DieHard Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) I have played the red side plenty of times alreaddy and they have the same opportunities as the blue side. Or even better opportunities in some places in fact! I play the Red side usually, because there is less competition killing ground targets, and blue icons, maps, etc. are easier for me to see. The Blue TS3 has too much chatter which distracts me. Usually few are on the Red TS3. Red side rarely wins the map as most everbody plays the Blue side. If I get bounced by a jet and I am in the Shark I get out of the flats and go for towns to zig-zag in, forests to fly in the trees, or mountain valleys. I have been flying the Shark now almost one year; I usually fly using the Flight Director and to and from the target area I fly low and try not to be seen by roving fighters and not take the pre-planned routes. If I were a Blue fighter looking for Red to shoot, I would play the Red side to see where and how guys fly to and fro at least concerning the helicopter's pre-planned routes. I am not very good in the sim, but I am getting better at it. I am not much good at dogfighting. I am just stating that there is psychology involved in the effort if a person wants to pursue it. A few posts back somebody said nobody flies the Su-33. Since the Su-33 is the only carrier based plane, other than Moa's mod for FC2, I fly it quite a bit, but not as much as the Shark. Su-33 will land itself on the boat, but if I do that, I cannot rearm/refuel it. If I do not land freehand, I will let the autopilot get me to within feet of the deck and then I land it with autopilot off, then I can rearm it and take off again. I like the missions. I appreciate the effort. There are a few servers a dozen or less that I frequent and these squad servers have pretty good thought out mission scenarios. Something was said about maps. I was flying the Toad the other day. I was all shot up and not even my cockpit compass worked. At least I had a map to find home. I prefer a spartan map. No map at all would be difficult rtb with the cockpit all shot up and not working. This mission pertaining to this thread is quite fun. I have no complaints at all. Well, the only complaint is---I do need some sleep. Thanks! Edited March 5, 2013 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RIPTIDE Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) It was Kopitnari airport they bombed- three or four of them bombed it (forget which). We refer to Kopitnari airport in game as "Kutaisi" usually. Yeah I guess both were bombed then, as was a bunch of others. The damage/repairs is visible on both lol I can't imagine that Russia would send its valuable Tu-22 bombers into contested airspace without an escort... lol. Large bombers are built for going alone.... you win some , loose some. It's been that way since WW2. Considering they sent some of them into dangerous airspace anyway, I think you are too kind with your assumptions. Edited March 6, 2013 by RIPTIDE [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SNAFU Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Since 1.2.3 I am able to join the 104th server again (before I always had the "connection interrupted" issue). I just wondered how everyone is usually figuring out which spike on RWR is friendly, which is not, since both sides fly the same type of planes? Is there a trick, or just hoping on AWACS and good luck? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Unsere Facebook-Seite
RIPTIDE Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 V34 of the mission has all target areas live from the Start. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

SNAFU Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Ok thx, once upon a time I installed Ricardo´s blue Shark-pit, might this be the reason, well anyhow... Yesterday there were on both sides the same type of planes airborne, as far as I remember. How do the other Hog or Shark pilots IFF in this situations? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Unsere Facebook-Seite
RIPTIDE Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 How do the other Hog or Shark pilots IFF in this situations? IFF? IFF what? Other airbornes? They don't. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Sure they do .... fly up and check the markings. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
badger66 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 The "me" button does work in other servers , but not in the 104th .
winchesterdelta1 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 After reading this topic i think you guy`s made a fine mission. These day`s i occasionally play some FC3 at a friend’s place so i never played your mission. But i hope i can still suggest some things. I think there is something missing in the mission you made and generally in most MP missions for public players. And now with this powerful editor DCS world brings you might be able to pull it off while still having fun. Some more and different type of objectives would bring more dynamic, flexibility and challenge into the mission. *More strategic objectives like bridges, factory`s, EWR sites, munitions depots or anything else you can blow up that has importance for the bigger picture. *If there is a ground commander in the mission you can give them objectives to attack a certain area or town and hold them for x time before reinforcements are send. So after a while if area this or town that have been conquered, defended or hold for a certain amount of time the mission ends. But if all your ground forces and reinforcements are lost you lose as well. These objectives will create some interesting side missions. - Bridges that can be destroyed can cause massive delay in reaching the target area for the ground commanders and their human tank drivers. Recon vehicles will have the fun task to find a proper and fast route to the target area, cause you don’t want to find out with your tank platoon when arriving at the bridge that it is destroyed. - CAP`s and point defense will have a meaning now. - Recon airplane and vehicles will have a blast trying to extrapolate routes back to the depots and factory`s. And to find enroute resupply trucks and reinforcements. - You will have the possibility to plan a mission real time with your friends when on the server. ( What i do right now is just imaging that i am on some important mission with a big plan behind it when playing MP , my imagination makes me keep flying these Simms lol). - Kamovs can go on unpredictable hunting missions now. Instead of, fly to point B destroy x amount of targets and try to return in one piece. - AI UAV`s can be implemented in a clever way now with some actual use for them. With this new patch you can direct air assets as well. So let’s say if you send a UAV to direction X and it encounters enemy movement in its line of sight it will show that group on the map, as long as it is close enough. Or it can send the coordinates to a list So players in SU-25, A-10`s and kamovs can be send out to investigate and or destroy the targets. - Munitions depots are now really valuable with the resource system if used right. Imaging several munitions depots around the map for blue and red and from those depots trucks with ammunition or whatever resource is send out to the FARPS and airbases. When they arrive safely they replenish the bases and drive back for another load. If they are not able to return back to the depot they are considered lost and will not spawn. Let’s say there are 5 depots on each side, every depot has 150 trucks and there are 5 bases on both sides to resupply. Off course to avoid server and client performance those 150 trucks won’t be send out all at once. Let’s say if less than 40% of the base supplies are depleted 6 trucks with protection are send out to resupply. You can do this with factory`s as well. As long as the factory`s exists the mission will respawn tanks, SAM sites and other armored vehicles, in limited quantities so that the ground commanders can send them out to strategic locations around the map. There don’t need to be hundreds and hundreds of units on the map at the same time. But just enough to give the ground pounders a great time searching, defending and attacking valuable ground assets that are very mobile, and for great importance to reach your main objective. And in the meantime you give the fighters above a real meaning to defend key area`s and assets and create temporarily air dominance so your ground pounders and resupply trucks can do their job. - To make it more accessible for the non-super hardcore players to defend their own side when joining, all the friendly units and your own sides valuable targets should be displayed on the map. I think it does not have to be too complex. Just designed clever. Just enough to make you feel the mission or tasks you do create a feeling that you actually are helping to win the mission. Enough objectives, side missions and unpredictability’s will keep the mission fun for a long time. Ander after some time with more modules and features coming out you can make it more complex. I think this would be really good for team play but also for the lone wolfs or people that just want to destroy stuff to have some fun for 30 minutes. In one way or another they contribute to the mission. Unless they destroy friendly's. I hope this suggestion is not too farfetched. EDIT: Spelling corrections. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
RIPTIDE Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 Version N36 of this mission will be in rotation for a time soon. Fighters moved up to airbases for shorter flight time. Version R36 will be the original long distance in reserve. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
