Invisibull Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Hi folks, in the interest of realism i'm considering attempting to force HDR on, on my P-51D server. Do i need to add a file to my integrity check list (if so, which file?), or is there some easier way of accomplishing this? Whether the client uses cold, warm or normal is of no importance to me, just as long as some form of HDR is being used. Invisibull Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks for your super quick response, Nate. Do you know which file within DCS World reflects my HDR settings? Graphics.cfg doesn't seem to. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
Mustang Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Do you know which file within DCS World reflects my HDR settings? Graphics.cfg doesn't seem to. Check your options.lua in C:\Users\<name>\Saved Games\DCS\Config folder, open with notepad++ and check line 42: ["HDR"] = 3, (this is warm HDR, 2 is normal and 1 is cold)
Nate--IRL-- Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 IIRC it is Options.lua in C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\DCS\Config Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Invisibull Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Yes, I know about that one, Mustang. That's why I asked specifically about within my DCS World folder. I can't do an integrity check outside that folder afaik. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.

Invisibull Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Yes, sun glare. During WW2, the plane with the sun to his back was far harder to spot, and so had a huge advantage. "Beware of the Hun in the Sun." In my opinion, HDR is a step in the right direction in emulating the kind of harsh glare pilots had to deal with back then. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
Inseckt Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Sun glare? ahh, haven't tried playing without HDR since I was back, so I didn't know, but that is indeed a game-changer. The mission "hideout" is actually very difficult because of this (if you follow the intended ingress route from IP), as the HUD becomes almost completely invisible because of the suns reflection of the mountains.. mjeh Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 that said, the current glare is a bit hyperactive imo

mjeh Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 oh, good to hear :) cold looks best by far imo
bn880 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Just note that HDR can cause more CTDing on some systems, it does for me. I crash about 20x more in MP with HDR on than HDR off, and this with the GPU running nice and cool. I do however like the HDR effect in DCS, and hope I can turn it back on in 1.2.3. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Invisibull Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Haven't had a single crash using HDR - lucky i guess. Mjeh, I agree that the cold setting looks the best by far. You should be blinded when looking toward the sun, and that's what the cold setting simulates imo. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
