Lumax Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Hi all. i was woundering if its possible to create emd files without using 3dmax. im using c4d and would like to try create a private project. im currently working on a Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX model. that i had planed for arma2/oa. but that game has way to arcadish flight model, so i droped that idea. dcs seems like a better choise. but if i am unable to export to edm by some tools im kind of stuck.
Paganus Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 I'm not an expert in this area, but based on the threads I've read on this board, the only export tool works with 3dmax. If you're smart enough have all the right info you could write a tool, but I suspect that's not the answer you're looking for.

Build the base model, and team up with someone that has Max and the ability to export. once base model is done, export from C4D to a medium that's importable into MAX (ie. .OBJ). But once in Max, materials would need to be re-done and alot of work done to the shape from there too. You can get student versions of 3D Max free, and while licensing restricts what you can use models for when created in Max, you might be okay just using it to convert and export... joey45 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 And to get the student licence you need to be a student. Just download the trial and work as quickly as you can in the 30 days you have with it... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
