KLR Rico Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I no understand this....:crash::crash::crash: The DCS P-51 was released as a "because we can" kind of project. It's not intended to be used as a "serious" part of DCS world, that's why it seems so out of place. Even though there is a Fw 190 in the pipeline, it won't turn DCS World into a WW2 simulator, it will just add another plane to play with. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
VH-Rock Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 It's not intended to be used as a "serious" part of DCS world On the contrary, it was done to prove that it could be done. With DCS being opened up to 3rd Party Develops, it opens the door for them to develop this type of aircraft by showing them the way. It may be a little out of place now, but wait a few months and there will be more content for us all to use. Virtual Horsemen - Right Wing (P-51) - 2008... Virtual Ultimate Fighters - Lead (P-47) - 2020...

KLR Rico Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Yeah guys, plopping in a Fw 190 will suddenly turn Georgia into a WW2 theater. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to fly 10 frame-per-second dogfights against a different aircraft. :D i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

KLR Rico Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 If I want my burning wreckage to be part of a "serious" WW2 simulation, then yes. That's the only point I'm trying to make here. I think the 'stang FM is spectacular, and sure, there's a lot of possibility for future development. But until the appropriate ground and air units are developed to go with it (and to a lesser extent, the theater), the mustang remains only as a neat toy in DCSW. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

I agree that ground units and such would be nice, and add to the immersion, but saying the P-51D is a toy, or its not serious... just cant get behind that, and once a Butcher Bird jumps on your tail... well it will be serious :) Edited March 25, 2013 by NineLine Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

BigfootMSR Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I believe the Mustang was created for the "Flying Legends" series of DCS aircraft which would focus on non modern types of aircraft, not as a toy or training aid. Im sure they have other "Flying Legends" type of aircraft under development we dont know about. The Mustang is just the first one and eventually, we will have others.
