There are three trim wheels on the left side of the cockpit. Each can be assigned to an axis if you have available controls.

On each of the weels is written what it is trimming. You say you drift to the right? So you may try some left rudder trim. Or some left aileron trim. Just try and use the setting that works for you.

At the Frontpanel on the left side there is an Intrument looking like this one (ok this is a german one but the P51's looks similiar).

There you have a ball inside a tube wandering to the left or the right and you have this stick thing, also able to move left and right. A perfect trimmed aircraft would result in both of these things centered in the middle or 12o clock position.

Of course it not happen just by magic though, so you should know how to achieve this.

The whole trimming should be divided in 3 steps which should be also should be performed sequentially and not simultaneously. First thing ist your Rudder. The instrument for rudderdrift is the ball. Just trimm the plane in the direction the ball is wandering out of the center. During the trimprozess you should keep your ailerons manually with the stick centered, because it would affect the ball.

Once you centered the ball you can take care of the other one, the stick (or brush, at least in german its called brush).

But unlike the ball you have to work now in the opposite direction with your aileron trimm. So if the brsuh falls to the left, trimm your right wing down.

After you accomplished this, you can take care of your noseup/down trimm, just take the intrument right of the above shown as reference.

Also keep in mind, if you are trimmed good, you will start to get faster and therefore have to retrimm the plane, same goes for changing climbangle or powersettings.

BS (sounds like a funny name :) )

First of all, what type of controller/flight stick do you have

DCS displays only what you've 'plugged in' so to speak.

Anway, plug in your prefereable stick/controller and assign the the keys/switches in the OFFLINE/OPTIONS menu. DCS keeps track of these settings AFAIK.

Keep the ball centered on TSI and use the gyro to control roll.

As you adjust your plane so you will have to adjust your trim.

Though you can get it into a state that is near perfect.

The rudder is the one on the panel closest to the seat, while the other two, elevator and Aileron are on the panel. Think it goes Aileron, elevator then rudder.

I find giving it a touch right rudder and aileron are the best, set the elevator and once I am level, then control climb, descend, with the the throttle.

The P51D requires almost constant trimming. As fuel burns it'll need to be trimmed. If you add or reduce power it'll need to be trimmed. It isn't difficult, but something you'll be doing a LOT.

I use the Warthog Hotas trim hat for this. For the rudder trim, I use LCtrl+LWD and LCtrl+RWD. Seems easy enough.

Lord_Pyro. Thank you very much for summing that up in such a simple manner. I have had trouble trimming the Mustang and could never find a "Sure-Fire Method" of working it out. I read your post yesterday and found that it works like a charm.

Thankyou for taking the time to post that. I am sure it can help many others in a similar position. :D

Seeing as I run a HOTAS as well.. I delete the keyboard assignments for Control Surfaces entirely, including trim, and set Alieron and Elevator Trim to my HOTAS Hat and Rudder Trim to just z/x on the keyboard.... just one button/ key press for each.
