Today I landed in the river and did not explode. The cool thing is that I was floating down river. :-) Anyways there is a point to this and that is will the 64-bit concept take away to stutters I am having because I am running a 660 OEM and a 3770K I7 16GB RAM. Though in missions there is slowness when I fly along I am getting 70+ FPS even at airport and near ground but when I drop INC. cluster bombs there is massive stutters. Seems like with the 32-bit limitation the 64-BIT version this should not happen any more?

The cluster bomb stutter is a known issue, they are working on it.

Now you may have 16 GB of memory in your box but with a 32-bit Windows you can only use 4 GB as 2^32 (2 to the power 32) is 4 GB.

You need a 64-bit operating system to reach beyond the 4 GB addressing limit.

So you need to upgrade to 64.

Don't think he meant he was running 32 bit os but wanted to know if things will get better when the game becomes 64 bit only.

To the OP, That remains to be seen. Best thing to do is experiment with your settings. While you can get good results with your set-up you won't be able to max-out on settings.

64 bit at this very moment will not fix the CBU stutters. Mine drops to about 0.5FPS!

Hopefully this will change in the next patch

There really is no need to change settings things don't get better because the slowness when it happens it's not a normal thing even with sims like this. I suppose I am not sure how objects in the world are using system resources. So I am hoping that 64-bit will change CPU and memory usage as it should. I can max out just fine. Your 680 is not giving you more then me and my I7 3770 is not doing better then your 2600k which is the problem I am talking about. (32-bit limitations)

Wrong. Just take a look at the taskmanager when Photoshop or Premiere run on a 32bit Windows system. They use all the cores they can get.

Furthermore I don't understand your 32bit/64bit questions. DCS is a 64bit application, where do the 32bit come into play?

Thats is my question is it a 32-bit app and they are going to only support 64-bit or what?

I had thought that at present DCS World is still 32bit application coded but it's compatible with 64bit OS; and ie; still can only address 4GB memory space.

Someone mentioned if you were running x64 then the download would install as 64bit version; but I'm unsure whether it's a true 64bit application as yet.

Ive noticed game crashes where DCS was at the 4GB memory limit; so maybe someone can check the truth in being true 64bit compatible version at present; or just being 32bit compatible 64bit application.

If that make sense?

Curious if anyone has actually monitored task manager processes to see what maximum memory DCS actually gets too.

Sorry, totally misunderstood your post. My bad.

And I can see your rig is slightly overclocked, so really I should have noticed...32-bit...overclocked...hmmm.

Sorry again, I know how that feels.

2GB HD - ?

Pardon me for being dumb, but 2 Gigabytes of Hight Definition - of what, if the GPU is already listed? I'm missing the point.

This is really what I am asking but I believe this is the case. The engine when upgraded to EDGE will be much better I am sure as well as better looking.

The dcs.exe that is running on my 64-bit Windows is a 64-bit app. You can check this in the taskmanager on a 64-bit Windows, while running the sim (running a mission).

dcs.exe -> 64-bit

dcs.exe*32 -> 32-bit

Very easy. :smartass:
