A better way to get gamers to support devs...

Hello there,

Auran (Trainz) is a prime example of a dev group who grab the gamers support by clever carots rather than ugly sticks. Thumbs up for Auran.

I have bought Flaming Cliffs, installed it, got my system buggerised by StarForce, reformatted HDD, did a fresh install of OS, an will not touch ED product again, unless I am paying for fetures, not viruses on the CD. Thumbs down for Flaming Cliffs.

Pitty, Flanker series was my all times favourite piece of software. Not any more.

FC is too good to give up so I'm just hoping that starforce isn't bypassing my firewall somehow and sending out who knows what info from my system :(

It's bad enough that it changes my system without even asking me.

Wether you think it's good or bad, starforce is doing it's job. There are NO pirate copies of Flaming Cliffs. It is sad that copy protection has to now go to the lengths that it has to but don't blame the producers of the software, blame the pirates who copy the software. The Devs/producers are only protecting their property.

 

It's also sad that a vocal minority have had some problems but sometimes these problems are user caused and can be rectified with the proper help plus there is a large silent majority out there that have NO problems whatsoever.

 

Rugbutt did a comprehensive search on virus software sites like symatec and norton and guess what. Starforce is NOT a virus.

I have installed and re-installed my Downloaded version of FC with patches and addons about 5 times now ( still got 10 activations left ) and never had the slightest problem with starforce.

So i dont understand all that fuzz some people make about it.

Of course, Starforce should test better their product.

I'll admit to being sceptical to the StarForce when I installed Flaming Cliffs, but everything went smooth as silk for me as well. Calling it malware isn't the correct term, even though there has been cases where it SNAFU's the comp it's installed on. True, it would be nicer if it wasn't there, but I don't have any problems with it.

ED, Starforce is broken. It didn't disable any of my disc drives, any of my emulation programs and I can still use Nero, Alcohol 120 and DVD shrink.

 

Please fix this ASAP.

Can you be more specific? - I havn't had any problem with Starforce, and i also think the online distribution is great. It keeps the price down, you get it right away, and you never have to look for that CD, just download it if you need it. The starforce CD protection isn't safe but it makes things more troublesome for the pirate.

Never had any problem with Starforce! Lock On/FC works smooth no problems whatsoever!

op may be a troll but he's got a point. Developers need to find better ways to protect their software instead of this starforce crap.

no way man , i surf the microwave and have a lightwieght friend who flys a pirates flag off his front porch. He is nothing compared to some other friends i have who have over 100000 dollars of software at thier fingertips. Im not saying thats ok but we work at at office systems dealers , we see all the malware and virus of this earth. Starforce is niether!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Putting Starforce in the same sentence with sony is against the law btw. Sony rules all copyrights and has insurance on your cd's.:)

I have around 10+ games with starforce. My 3 computers which I tried them on including my laptop runs normal.. I have FC, PoP 3, king kong, sh3, blc 2005, panzers 2, and so on. my system runs perfect.

 

This is the main thing:::

 

Hackers have made mockups of starforce to damage systems to get publishers to boycott it since starforce is hard to crack.

 

and ppl take this too seriously. Its like u get a virus from surfing websites and u guess its because the Sf game u were installing while browsing added SF to ur computer.
