Garth1 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Hi Folks, Newbie question , so apologies in advance.. I'm currently getting into doing the cold start up myself but seem to be missing something when it comes to the UV-26 countermeasure panel If I let the computer do the auto start up by the time the helo is ready for take off the UV-26 is lit and I can test it However when I follow the manual start up and get to the point of switching on the UV-26 & the L-140 LWR I can not get the countermeasure panel to light up ( I un-cap the UV-26 OPER switch and click it up) but I get no reaction from the panel Am I missing an obvious switch somewhere prior to this point?? Many Thanks
XCrosser Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Have you put the engine throttles to "Auto" using the 'Page-up' (default) key?
BaD CrC Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Yep. Even with the UV26 switch to ON, you'll need to have engines power set to auto and generators to ON before having the UV26 panel to lit up. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
zaelu Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 of course don't forget to start the generators... like I do ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
-MadCat- Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 On a side note, in case of proper cold start you should have ground power connected long ago anyway. Startup on batteries only is possible but not advised. Other than that as mentioned above, the generators and engine levers not in AUTO will most likely be the thing to look for. JG14_Smil Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 If it was the generators switch, you would not see a Shkval either. Unfortunately, there is no penalty for not using ground electric power. Helo will always start just fine with one battery. I wish it was modeled.
TimeKilla Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Could someone give more info on why start-up on batteries isn't good i thought they just powered systems until the apu has started the turbines and gens also you would think the engines would recharge the batteries. :joystick: YouTube :pilotfly: TimeKilla on Flight Sims over at YouTube.
seikdel Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 (edited) My understanding is this: The batteries provide DC power to all DC systems. AC power is supplied through the inverter, which does not power all instruments. I don't know why, but I assume it's related to the capacity of either the inverter or the batteries. The generators power all the AC and DC instruments. They rely on normal rotor RPM. If RPM drops too low, the generators cut out and all those systems go offline. Once RPM comes back up, the power comes back, but you'll have to wait for however long it takes those systems to come back online. Doppler time is ~3min, which sucks. Edit: batteries, not APU. Must be losing my mind. Edited June 19, 2013 by seikdel 1
Ich666 Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The APU is there to start the helicopter, not to provide power. So the batteries power all your electronic stuff, but they cant deliver the power required to use, for example, your shkval. Once the generator produces enough electricity, everything is powered by the generator.
