Shaman Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Is it safe to update to latest version of TS3 client, 3.0.18.2? Is it still back-compatible with current Aries revision? 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
towsim Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Yes, it works with the latest TS version if Aries Radio version > 1.6. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dojo Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 FYI Towsim et al, I tested Aries in 2.0/Nevada; it's working. I was/am concerned that the terrain masking features may be an issue with the new map, but at least wanted to report initial success. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
towsim Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks for the info. I am just doing the download. Tomorrow morning I can ticker the terrain. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dojo Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Towsim, while we're taking a fresh look, as the "crash on exit" issue is still present from version 1.2 to 2.0, can you point us to why this happens? It is a relatively small thing, but an annoyance still. I suppose I shouldn't assume, so I'll ask: Do you and other members of the 10th experience this issue? It's been consistent for me since 1.2. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
towsim Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 The crash at mission end is a continuous problem and in our focus. Whereby, we did not observes it for a long time in our internal versions. We meanwhile working on version 1.980. Nevertheless, after the light speed fast download of the Nevada Map, I start the adjustment to DCS version 2.0 today and will have look to the mission end issue again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
towsim Posted December 6, 2015 Author Posted December 6, 2015 Preliminary DCS V2.0 support Dear Aries Radio users, we are working on the next release of Aries Radio. Because of DCS V2.0 another challenge came up which requires a new terrain file. The new build takes a little time. Therefore here a method to use the current Aries Radio with DCS Version 2.0. The following changes have to be made: copy the entire folder C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\AriesWings to C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha If you do have already an Export.lua file in C:\Users\mike\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\Scripts, take care, that the entry dofile("./AriesWings/AriesRadio.luac") is present in the last line of the file. If the folder C:\Users\mike\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\Scripts does not exist, please create the folder and copy Export.lua from C:\Users\mike\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts to the newly created folder. The terrain masking is disabled internally because the westerly coordinates are outside of the Black Sea terrain file. This is noticed by the terrain checker and it returns always best reception. Nevertheless, distance and horizon are checked as usual. For those, who use the Gossip Box, it is important to define a westerly coordinate for the radio location. Open the Gossip Box Configurator and enter the required coordinate in the ‘Unit Location’ Group. Example for CreechAFB: Latitude 36 34.8666 Longitude -115 40.6833 Altitude 3140 You should notice, that westerly longitudes are entered as negative values. Known Bug: If you start a second mission in a DCS session, it is most likely, that DCS crashes. This bug is under investigation. Thank you for your patience [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Raphy Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hello, Just registered to the forum to thank you for this great tool and give you quickly our experience with it! It took us a while with a friend to set it up: we didn't install TS and Aries using administrator rights. After a clean uninstall and reinstallation this time with admin rights, we then encountered the anti spam filter from Teamspeak driving us nuts with the error sound. Solution was quickly found in the quick installation guide (changing the server anti spam settings), however we had to create a new TS server as the admin wasn't available at the time. Now everything works great! Quick question though: is it possible to change the little beep sound emitted after the end of every transmission? I found some .snd files in the Aries folder, but I am unable to open them, and don't know if it's possible to edit them. Would be great to change this with a custom sound! Thanks!
Esac_mirmidon Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Try this sounds. For me are much better. No offense Towsim XDDD Aries New Radio Sounds " You must think in russian.." Tonmeister Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Hi, I'm not sure what to do during the install of aries. I only have DCS World 1.5 open beta installed, yet the installer also wants a location for DCS World. Do I just ignore that and continue with the installation for World 1.5 OpenBeta? or is World 1.2.x required as well? thanks * update * so i installed aries, leaving the pathway for the DCS world clear, and directing aries for the DCS World Open beta. Everything seemed to work OK, the lua file was updated and TS plugins were added to the TS folder, But, TS couldn't find the export file needed to connect. Un-installed aries. During install, should I point them to all the same place? I cannot deselect DCS world and just install for the beta. If anyone with just DCS world beta installed has any suggestion for how to install correctly, i would greatly appreciate your advice! Edited December 9, 2015 by Tonmeister
Raphy Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Put the files inside your Team Speak folder/Plugins/AriesRadio. Thanks, had a go with this last night, worked great ;) Hi, I'm not sure what to do during the install of aries. I only have DCS World 1.5 open beta installed, yet the installer also wants a location for DCS World. Do I just ignore that and continue with the installation for World 1.5 OpenBeta? or is World 1.2.x required as well? I'm no expert but I helped my friend that has only DCS OpenBeta installed to install Aries. Actually the absence of DCS 1.2 didn't make a difference in the installation, he just checked the installation of Aries in the folder of DCS 1.2 (which, since it doesn't exist anymore, will create a new folder) in the default folder, he didn't change the location at all. Everything worked smoothly, and he used Aries Configurator OB to configure his hotkeys (same as me). Did you run all the setups (including Teamspeak's) as administrator? That's what made the difference for us.
towsim Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 The Open Beta as only installation was not intended and tested. However, If you set the checkmark for Open Beta and the normal DCS World is not present, you will experience a couple of message boxes: A path for DCS World must be specified! DCS World path does not exist! This should not kick you out of the installation so far. If you acknowledge the message boxes, the installation will continue for the Open Beta Installation. As I mentioned, it was never tested. If this does not work, please contact me on support@ariescon.com . I will prepare a Setup.exe for this special case. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tonmeister Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Hi thanks for the replies. I think I sorted it out. I wasn't sure if there were any differences between the two install options, but I'll get to test it out over the weekend. In the end after starting again from a clean slate, I selected ; 1. DCS World and directed its install path to the open beta folder 2. directed DCS World save games path to the open beta save game folder 3. de-selected the open beta option this seems fine now and TS now finds the export file. Also it doesn't create two installs, as previously experienced, in which one game folder doesn't exist. thanks for the help Edited December 9, 2015 by Tonmeister

tifafan Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Hello, towsim. When I'm recording my TS dialogue using bringing feature in TS,my own voice seems to have the maximum degradation(I mean the maximum range degradation effect). My friends' voice is the same what I hear. I'd like to have the voice degradation on my own voice, but have the minimum range effect(the degradation effect when teammate is right next to you). How to do it? Thank you.
VTJS17_Fire Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 What did you try ? What did not work ? We want to use Aries in DCS open alpha, but it doesn't work. In the same time, we switched our servers (forum, website, ILIAS, TS3) to https, for security reasons. We (6 of us) did a complete de-installation of Aries and a fresh and clean install, both in the 1.5 open beta and the 2.0 open alpha. In the 1.5 open beta it works as always, but in 2.0 it doesn't. On our own TS3 server: If I'm alone on the game server and transmit a message over Aries all is fine. I hear the radio click and the LEDs on the Aries panel work normal. But if another player entered the game sever and I will transmit a message, TS3 crashs for me. This occurs for everyone, who will transmit while another is checked in (see TS3_Aries_OpenAlpha.jpg). We tried it on another TS3 server (without https): TS3 didn't crash, but we couldn't hear each other. We checked the Aries radio information in TS3 and wondered about the data for each other (see the other 4 images). For me, I'm online in Aries but my friend wasn't. For my friend, he was online but I wasn't. Never saw that issue with Aries. Oh, and: We tested it in the FC3 F-15C for all examples. Any ideas to solve the problem? towsim Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 I am sorry for answering late. I was out of office yesterday. @tifafan If you record your communication, you should use a second computer on which TS and the Gossip Box are running. Otherwise your own speech would be recorded without distance and terrain degradation if the recording is done on the same computer. If the recording is done on the second computer with the Gossip Box and TS active, make sure that the geographical location of the Gossip Box is in a suitable range to all participants. The degradation you hear depends on the distance between the Gossip Box and the talking participant. The frequency for recording must be set at least to listening watch in the Gossip Box. @VJS161_FIRE The main difference between DCS V 1.5 and V2.0 is, that every part of the software runs now in one single program. For Aries it does harm anything as long as you do not start a second mission out of a running DCS sim. It would be for interest what Aries version is running and whether all participants run the same version. You should even make sure, that all applications involved are started with administrator rights. A change of the Server has no impact on Aries. It does not deal with the internet addresses of the TS server. There could probably be an issue with the security configuration of the server. Aries uses a hidden channel for data exchange beside the voice channel. In some cases, it was subject of spam issues based on the amount of messages sent per second. But this never led into a TS crash. We even tested the functionality of the Aries 1.97n under DCS version 2.0 and found no issues beside the mission restart. The next version will be 1.982 with some improvements with the security rights. The registry entries are migrated to HKEY_CURRENT_USER so no issues with administrator rights should be observed anymore. Even the Nevada terrain profile is done meanwhile. If the above suggestions do not help, I can only beg your patience. I would give you an access to our latest beta version as soon as the in house tests are completed. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Hi TowSim, and thanks for the answer. + all of us are running Aries 1.976a + all of us run TS3 with administrator rights* *But that can't be the problem, because in DCS 1.5 all is fine. That's why we believe, that our server can't be the problem, as well. Do you need any log file or something to check that? EDIT: Maybe this screenshots helps.
