moonbeast Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 hello suggestion for 1.2, seen as the su25 can take off from grass airstrips, is there any chance you could implement this in the mission editor, this would enable people to put forward operating bases (FOB's) in missions the same way helos have FARP's instead of hangers you could have camoflauge nets/hides etc etc this is just an idea suggestions welcome cheers moonbeast
Force_Feedback Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 It should be possible, we already have "mobile runways" (carrier decks). Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Prophet_169th Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 From http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?end_pos=950&scr=default&lang=en KEY FEATURES:: Unprecedented level of realism in modeling Russia’s Ka-50 attack helicopter. The Ka-50 can be armed with the "Shkval"/"Vikhr" anti-tank systems and other air-to-ground weapons. Advanced flight dynamics and physics for bombs, rockets and missiles. AI aircraft use the same flight dynamic system as player-controlled aircraft. 6DOF, mouse clickable cockpit with TrackIR 3 Pro Vector support. "KABRIS" multi-function display, integrated navigation system and OVN-1 "Skosok" night-vision goggle system. Mission pack and extensive campaigns for the Ka-50. Forward Arming and Refueling Points. Detailed Ka-50 training course with voice-over narration. Cinematic videos using the Black Sharks graphic engine. Several new ground units for attack helicopter missions. Now, I dont know if that means forward airbases. Could just be heli pads. But the Su25/T is good for rough runways?
Shepski Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Use the mission editor and build your own... no arming and refueling though.
Maximus Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 no arming and refueling though. It is possible to land on roads, but never thought it can be created as a forward ("temp") base, but I wouldn't consider this as a base, since SU-25T can't re-arm/refuel on that "temp" bases. Cheer Maximus, The only real Maximus in DCS World. :music_whistling: I am not associated to viper 33 | Maximus. he is the imposter.
Ian_cf-18 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Great creativity Shepski! However, I tried to do that in the mission editor, and it won't let me place an aircraft taking off from a place on the map that is not an airport (it forces a speed of at least 50). In a similar manner, besides when placing a static object, a player aircraft cannot be oriented or placed in any parking on the taxiways... Does anyone know how I could do that?

Ian_cf-18 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 D-Scythe, That is what I mean... is there any way to force the mission editor to start a player aircraft on the ground at any other place than on the parking? (by setting waypoint 0 to "Takeoff" and selecting "from parking area"?)

You can hack into LOMAC and get helicopters to take off from someplace other than an airfield, but I'm pretty sure you cannot do this with fighter aircraft. You can land, just not take off.

golfsierra2 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 You might want to try this: http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?page=detail&ID=2088 It's a grass runway patch, changing all asphalt and concrete areas into a grass strip and sand plates. kind regards, Raven.... rasputin Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 This idea was implemented in Strike Fighters using the MiG-23...It's a great idea and Russian aircraft were designed with this type of improvisational scenario in mind. I guess in case thier airbases were rendered useless from enemy bombing of the runways, etc... ----------------------------- AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Asrock 939 Dual SATA 2 mobo 1024 Corsair PC3200 XFX 7800GT Antec True Blue 480 Samsung 940B Track IR4 Saitek X-45 HOTAS Win XP Pro
