KaspeR32 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Hello, Well for some reason, my girlfriend was feeling very generous and ordered the Warthog HOTAS I've been drooling over for quite some time. :joystick: Anyway, she sent me a link of where she ordered it, and it was through a company in Germany, who's shipping it here to Las Vegas. It says it will arrive between June 16th and July 16. Has anyone else ordered internationally? And is that time frame accurate for delivery? Thanks! Can'ttttt waaaiiitttt. Witchking Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Be careful though....u may be hit with duty and stupid UPS brokerage charges. I have been burnt time and time again by ordering stuff from other countries. But no worries with warranty. My warthog throttle is with thrustmaster right now... they only ask for a copy of the invoice/proof of purchase and the serial number. Dudester22 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Wish someone would buy me one of these, but I cannot help asking if they are really worth that much? What does the warthog have over say a Saitek x52? I cannot work out how the makers can justify that price. Does it come with a life time guarantee or something lol.

Even if I were to agree that the price is unjustifiably high, which I don't. :) In the grand scheme of things... I paid more for my graphics card and I will replace that long before I am likely to need/want to replace the Warthog. That's some kinda normal although i find 16th of June a bit to far in the future as a starting time. But by giving dates like this, the company prevents incoming calls asking if it is shipped already... If i order some stuff through Amazon today, i get a delivery date like "product x should arrive before 14th of June, giving them (or the seller) a month to deliver the product. In most cases it arrives within a week after purchase. Didn' you get some sort of tracker to see if your product is shipped and if it has, where it is (not all company's do that btw)? basset Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 B&H Photo/Video, the price they offer seems to change daily, It started at 450.00 including shipping a few weeks ago and has been climbing since - now its at 479.99 Its strange. I guess since Amazon is at 499.00 they raising price, maybe I'm wrong, no idea the reason, really. Supply and demand. [sIGPIC]http://www.jg53.com/images/sigs/general/sig1.png[/sIGPIC]
KaspeR32 Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Yeah, Fry's even says they are on back order. http://www.frys.com/product/6529383 June 17th or something. Damien Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I originally had an order with Frys.. It's been on back order for a few weeks.. I ended up cancelling my order and went with B&H as they seemed to be the only ones in stock. The B&H price seems a little high.. I'm sure I got mine a little cheaper a few weeks ago. -Damien

I cannot work out how the makers can justify that price. Does it come with a life time guarantee or something lol. Having owned the X52 and a CH fighter stick and throttle and now a warthog its definitely about worth the price. Given its closest competitor is the X-65F at $329 USD, its got things I immediately that I feel like its roughly worth more than the Saitek. The nearly all metal construction giving it a sturdy feel and weight. The spring tension was immense out of the box but has slacked over time, but added to the overall feel. The CH stick is super loose and 'notchy' when alternating in the axes. Then there is the warthog's split throttle, allowing for independent engine operation. The only thing I wish the warthog had was a rotary, at least one better positioned than the faux tension lever. http://104thphoenix.com/
canadianbaken Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Well I ordered mine last month on Amazon and took prime for a test ride. Got 2 day delivery for free and canceled prime after a also order pedals. So that seems a long time to me. Sorry but they will be worth the wait.

KaspeR32 Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Well, so far I love this thing. I haven't even used the target software yet. I do have a question for those willing to listen though. Do most people with this joystick use target profiles or just configure their joystick inside DCS? I'd like to add some functionality for TrackIR, vent/teamspeak, and zoom. I came from an x52 joystick, so I got used to the SST software and actually came to really like it. I used the Mode switch on top to switch between the A-10, BlackShark, and P-51. Should I basically think of the target software being the same as SST software? Can I just delete all the mappings ( besides axis) inside DCS and just use T.A.R.G.E.T.? And if so, does anyone have any good "starting" profiles that I can use to avoid setting up alllllll those key commands? Thank you! metalnwood Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I dont use target for anything, it would be a pita to set it all up from scratch when DCS recognises it and already has everything mapped. I map my teamspeak to the spare input on the throttles radio hat and you could map track IR centre to the same radio hat push if you want. For zoom I use the big paddle at the front as a modifier as its not mapeed to anything by default. I then use it as a modifier with the trim pitch hat for zoom in and out. all done in dcd, no target.
cichlidfan Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I use Target but I also have some stuff programmed in game. It basically replicates the default setup with a few small changes. I can post the files but my lua file is modified so that you can't assign any other commands in the sim (I deleted everything that I was not using) which you may find inconvenient. If you have not looked at the Target manuals yet, now would be a good time. It has a GUI which is not too difficult to use but I prefer just editing the basic script in notepad++. The target files need to stay in the same folder for them to work correctly. You will have questions so feel free to PM me.Cichlidfan A10 Profile data.zip ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! KaspeR32 Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Hey, thanks for your responses. I am somewhat familiar with the target software. It's similar to the SST software in function, with a different GUI. The part ill have to get used to is the switches that remain "on," and how to program them. I think I'd prefer having everything in target rather than in game.. I'd like to take advantage of some of those LED lights too ;) As far as the settings in DCS. I can probably leave them as is, since target would replace those joystick commands with key strokes.
