ericoh Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 People REALLY forgot how much of a big thing a developers' update used to be. We'd get those once in a blue moon, more often than not without screenshots, containing only a short list of features which are being worked on/implemented/completed, with few or no pointers regarding future products. ...and when those updates would come it'd be Christmas for a day in the Forums :D Imagine if we called everything dead every time there wasn't mention of a feature on an update or not what we wanted to hear. Seriously, this fetish people are developing of calling everything (not only ED products, but a lot of 3rd party projects as well) stalled/crumbling/cancelled/dead unless there is a constant tracking of said project is nuts. Let people work on it, wouldn't you be pretty pissed off if every week at least 50 people kept speculating/telling you your project is dead/halted just because you didn't post photos of whatever you're building? Sure, some teams like VEAO are more active in the community and post a lot of videos showing minor features, and that's great! Others prefer to only come forth with something when they think they have something really big ready to show, which is cool too. And there are also others who just prefer to work away quietly and then show up out of nowhere and surprise us with a ready product. Awesome. The one thing all have in common? All are hard working teams and all should be respected equally. They just put out a Huey with some added instability - let's try and learn how to land it before they fix it, that'll keep all entertained until Friday :D I agree with almost all you say BUT we are not in 2000 anymore, times change. Today being close to your community is the No.1 for Devs that are not owned by EA or simillar gold donkeys. Theres some very nice examples for Devs close to their communitys/customers, belive me when i say they swim in money. That being said Wags allready changed this after initial complaints, hats off to him. I also want all the details, people want maps resemling real life conditions, then you should also implent all effects on the plane. :D
Python Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 And another vapor thread, it seems this is a very popular subject so I imagine they will make an appearance again. Personally, I think a sim like DCS really needs decent vapor and contrail effects. They will add a whole new level of realism. I agree also that plenty of other things should take priority of course, as long as we aren't left waiting forever... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Paradox Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 While we're at it, can we have Prandtl-Glauert singularities as well?
ericoh Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 While we're at it, can we have Prandtl-Glauert singularities as well? I think that falls under the same catergory.
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 As soon as DCS Vapour is released, we will start seeing threads on how Red vapours is thicker than Blue vapours and how it is against MP balance and vice-versa :D
ericoh Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 As soon as DCS Vapour is released, we will start seeing threads on how Red vapours is thicker than Blue vapours and how it is against MP balance and vice-versa :D Haha, isnt that the essence of good multiplayer?
Dejjvid Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 If ED decide to implement vapour I'd like to see proper vapour modelling and not just wingtip vortices, something like the VRS one would make me happy ;) i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
sobek Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 While we're at it, can we have Prandtl-Glauert singularities as well? IIRC the consensus of the devs on that topic was that the current atmospheric model is not sufficient to adequately parametrize this effect to appear only under believable circumstances, so right now it would be always on or always off (when going supersonic), so the devs chose always off. Who knows, if they start incorporating humidity into the atmospheric model, this might become possible though. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
SkateZilla Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 put it on the EDGE wishlist. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
