Why do mountain and hill tops seem so unrealistic? The graphics elsewhere in FC3 are done very realistic but all the hill and mountain tops have sharp straight edges to them.

Thank you.

I wonder if new graphic cards will be needed to take full advantage of EDGE technology?

Thank you for your response.

Edge will feature DX11, so if you current card can handle DX11 games well, that should do.

Because terrain mesh has low resolution and current engine doesn't allow for better one. New engine, called EDGE, is in development. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80468

Whatever the engine running. A low poly mesh still a low poly mesh. A triangle (mountain) is a triangle...

IRC, ED has previously stated that Crimea/Gerorgia theater as we have now will not be compliant with EDGE.

The first terrain released along with this terrain rendering engine will be the Nevada map.

Unless you use some sort of real-time tesselation ;)

Useless as long you have no higher mesh data.

as Cedaway wrote: A low poly mesh is still a low poly mesh.

To get a better looking map and benefit from tessellation you first have to recreate it with much more detail.

With the upcoming AFM, no doubt...

For the graphism, I still hope Wags can get the clearance to show us nice pics from EDGE/Nevada map soon, :dreaming: along with good news concerning stable framerate :dreaming:
