Dudester22 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Can someone tell me why I am getting two different views in the cockpit when using trackir? I have uploaded two pics to show one view with trackir off and the other with it on and after I have centered Trackir. I just want trackir to stay like the first pic after I have centered it, instead of been thrown forward towards the front panel like in the second pic. What can I do to stop this happening? Thanks!!
311Gryphon Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I don't know the "proper" way to fix the issue but you could lean forward a bit from your natural sitting position and recenter, then lean back to your natural position. If you lean forward the correct amount before re-centering your TIR will then think you're leaning back from center thus "zooming out" so to speak. I usually just use the zoom function to fix mine. It does a very similar thing and I have zoom mapped to the friction wheel on the HOTAS throttle quadrant so it's easy to access. There is probably a better way to actually fix it though. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Evil.Bonsai Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Is one pic w/o trackir running at all and the 2nd with it running, or is the first merely 'paused' via trackir software command?

Rogue Trooper Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Does this occur after looking down in the pit for a period of time or just all of a sudden? If it occurs after looking down in the pit for long periods... just look directly up through the top of the canopy and then back to level HUD view (just takes a split second). Does this fix it? Rogue Trooper Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Ah centre it with your view down a little. Dudester22 Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 Ah centre it with your view down a little. I usually set a minus 5 degrees in TIR calibration window I am not entirely sure what you mean by this? What difference will looking down and centering trackir make to stopping the front panel becoming to close up? I did try this but all that did was make my view look up out of the roof when my head was level. I don't think you understand what I meant. Take a look at the first post again and the two pics I uploaded. The first one shows some of the cockpit frame without trackir on and the other with trackir on and centered, but it is to close up for me. I want it to be like the first pic but with trackir on. I hope this explains it better.
Evil.Bonsai Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 when you turn on TRACKIR or use 'center', sit, or move your head, a little closer. This will allow you to zoom back a bit when sitting normally. If you want the same, or as close to as possible, view you get w/o trackir, you will have to move a bit when centering so that when you sit in your normal location, the view will reflect that. Try this: move your head about 6 inches (15cm) forward, hit center, then move back to your normal position. your view should now be fairly far back. Now, sitting normally, move your head back the same distance, hit center, then move to your normal position. Your view should now be zoomed in a bit. WHERE you are when you center affects where you are AFTER centering.

In FC3 I used to use the throttle slider to control my zoom, but that is now spoken for because I use it for speed brakes. I'm wondering if I could use one of the rotarys on the saitek to zoom now, is that possible?
Hamblue Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 With trackir off the game gives you a view that works in most cases. With trackir on you get to set the view any way you want. I'm always looking around and re-center often enough that I use the paddle switch on my warthog. Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. If you are talking about moving my head slightly forwards and then back, I have already explained why I find that doesn't work. I always end up going out of the dead zones and it makes my trackir float about. I tried increasing the dead zone in this instance, but then it is not responsive enough.
Picksplitter Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Dudester, check this out... it helped me immensely with trackir...
