MadTommy Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Just flew the Huey for the 1st time.. I found it a lot of fun, and not frustrating like i expected. Must be the years in the ka-50 that helped a lot. One thing i noticed it seemed very fast.. felt a lot faster than the ka-50. Is it? It was a blast , in several ways! i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. xxJohnxx Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 No, the Ka-50 is a lot faster, at least if you don't overpower your engine. Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
MadTommy Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 That is what i had assumed.. it must be just the feel. It feels a lot faster to me. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. TM Warthog, Saitek combat pro pedals, TrackIR 4
PeterP Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 A greater peripheral vision (being able to see the ground below you) is what makes you think that you are faster.
IonicRipper Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) According to wikipedia: Ka-50 max speed: 170 knots Uh-1H max speed: 117 knots Might not be 100% reliable but gives you a good idea. That sounds about right, makes sense. I was very surprised at the feel of speed off it. I've not got my head around the instrument panel yet, having not even opened the manual. At one point i was close to a hover and i NOTICED THE KNOTS DIAL SEEMED TO BE SHOWING ME DOING 100+ knots.. weird. thrawn Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 According to wikipedia: Ka-50 max speed: 170 knots Uh-1H max speed: 117 knots Might not be 100% reliable but gives you a good idea. Vne for the Huey is generally listed at 125 knots. Cruise speeds tend to range between 80 and 105 knots. I've found much above 105 and I experience quite a bit of turbulence.
ishtmail Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Maybe it's all the shaking, bumping, jumping and hiccuping that makes it feel like it's flying at warp speed and about to fall apart. Compared to the Huey, the KA50 feels like it's on rails greased with a ton of vaseline. Yurgon Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 130 kts (= 240 kph) is pretty much the most I could ever get out of the Huey, but it starts to shake violently a good bit sooner. Under ideal conditions, I could get the Shark up to ca. 310 kph (= 167 kts). So the Shark really is quite a lot faster than the Huey. The real fun, of course, is climbing up to 4000m, drop collective and dive. 400 kph is absolutely no problem in the Shark, but I haven't done extensive testing in the Huey yet. :)
skouras Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 reaching 140 knots it doesn't going to break but be very cautious with the controls [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog
