Mongolf Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Im getting seriously tired of patches every once in awhile erasing all my control-settings? whats up with that? i spend more time with my settings then flying soon, there are other game makers that manage to update games without erasing the controls... I'm not sure i bother this time, its the final golden moment where i start to realize that i will fight more with dcs then it gives back...
cichlidfan Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Patches should not be altering your control profile. They are stored in ..\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input. The update process does not touch this folder. Or more exactly if i bother anymore, its illy that i have to do this everytime some update comes along.

There are times you will need to reload the controls lua when new options are added or when options are changed... but I dont think the installer or updater will do that at all. Still it's not supposed to happen, but that way you don't need to redo the controls every time. I suspect it has to do with how the updater is run, maybe from a diferent user account (admin?). Yes, but what if there are changes in regards to filestructure/variables in the new files. Then you paste back an "almost ok" filestructure which would seem to work mostly. This could lead to strange behavior which ppl can think are bugs. Problem with DCS is that there is nothing telling the user whats being done except for some cryptical logs. I have had strange happenings to the controls before. Like when i select a setup then fly then go back to controls and its blank? Have to select it again. Mongolf Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 I cant reinstall the game every times there comes a patch, given the many modules i have purchased. Bloody h*ll, i even have to install games i dont even want to use(in order to install the ones i do use). I cant even remember how many times i have reinstalled DCS lately, im getting seriously tired if all this, as i have stated i dont even have the time to fix the seetings and save them before something alters them. I'm glad that u don't have the same probls, but it doesnt really help me. There must be a reason, why it happens, how do i get rid of that?
