Running on the Default doesn't affect the inner workings of the TIR any more than setting up a custom profile does. Setting up a Custom Profile just customises the parameters to suit the user, and well worth the going through

Wolf Rider, I never saw the first part of this post. All I saw was the discussion about TrackIr not running smoothly. I wasn't signed on at the time and the post showed up as todays post. I'm not having the issues with TIR that it seems other people are having with DCS. There are differances within each of the TIR profiles, default, one to one, slow and smooth, how'll there fine tuned and they react with DCS or any other sim they are used in. It's just like adjusting the axis settings in DCS options.

Aware, but the profile and tuning has nothing to do with what is occuring.

You mention you dont see it;

If we voluntary bug troublshoot this ourselves maybe we can solve it; before we wait for another month or so for a fix, if it is fixed(as not one tester , etc has acknowledged this as yet) rant over.

No it didn't...

Means that i'm on 1.2.6 again without a solution and have to revert back to 1.2.5 to solve it and which again means no MP since most of the servers run 1.2.6. Crap!!!

Think i'll ditch DCS for a while. Wanted to get me the Mi-8 but i have put that on hold until this is solved...

Noticable stepping & skips of TrackIR with v1.2.6

I have experienced the same skipping/stepping behaviour in Track IR since the 1.2.6 patches. It is certainly an irritating effect.

No fix

So I did some numerous tests the other night, still no fix to this irritating frame skipping with moving view left and right slowly but not too slow from center.

Running the latest 1.2.6 U2.

Now my theories..

Either

1) this has something to do with the world ands game is now caching data and a read/write problem somewhere is happening when the view is moved in 5degree increments through to 180. It just isn't smooth anymore, and it's not the trackir causing it, unless it's the way the game is using it.

2) it has something to do with the ground boundary box being open, that is you can move mouse view under the earth and lookup to the bottom of the plane and water.

Something to do with fullscreen and multimonitor arrangements ?

Now the interesting thing is that this is less noticeable when over the water, and as soon as you are low over land the skipping becomes worse when moving the cockpit view. My frames over land with my setup are approx. 35-38 fps. Over water my fps is around 58-60.

I tried all manners of vertical sync, and they all make it worse, so I always leave vsync off.

This isn't happening in 1.2.5. Trackir cockpit view moved freely without skipping, yet the world movement hap a slight skip, of which it now feels more fluid, but the opposite is occurring with trackir movement.

It's pretty annoying, and I'm guessing here with what is clearly observable since 1.2.5.

No, it's not TrackIR that's the cause because if you use the view keys to look left and right you get the same effect without TrackIR even running.

Phu!

Happy to see this thread, sort of.

Been out of the sim for a while and did the update dance etc.

First thing I noticed was stuttering when using track IR to look around. If I keep my view steady looking to the side, smooth as silk. As soon as I start moving my head to look around, very noticeable stutter/jitter.

Flying around, external view etc, everything smooth. Move head, feels my eyes are going to start bleeding any moment.

Not touching this with a ten foot pole until it's fixed.

You're on it...

For the sake of fixing this, I hope so. :music_whistling:

At present I think I may upgrade to 32GB ram to see what further improvements occur with ram caching. I'm also curious what happens if trackir runs on second core with different affinity. At present my gut tells me this is all related with the 64bit LUA changes and memory caching, or... I'm wrong and a dev can report on it...

I build a new rig yesterday. After installing Windows 8 Pro i installed DCS World on it, TrackIR and my controllers and went for a try. Still same problem.

@_Dredd: I went from 12GB RAM in my old system to 16 GB in my new, didn't help so i doubt that going to 32 GB will cure this.

Old system:

i7 950 @ 3.07

GTX480 1.5 GB

12 GB RAM PC 1600

New system:

i7 4770K @ 3.5 (still at stock, overclocking is for later when everything is installed and running as it should)

GTX780 OC 3GB

16 GB RAM PC 2100

On a sidenote: Still have to do a few tests performance wise but i did put the GTX780 in my old system first to see what a new gfx would bring. Well, as good as nothing. FPS where +/- the same, maybe 3-5% at max.

Then today did the same test but running for the first time on my new system, FPS went 110-120% higher at the same spot, same mission. So i'm quite a happy man performance wise, now if this could be solved, where back in business...

Been running some performance tests with my new system and i can say the TrackIR problem is more pronounced at lower framerates.

At framerates around 120 the stutter is only very very minimal, but when FPS comes down the stutter goes up. If i cut off the FPS at 30 (by selecting Adaptive VSync), it becomes very anoying.

I reverted to 1.2.5. again and there it does not exist at all, smooth movement all the way, even at 30 FPS.

Plea to ED Testers

We really need ED testers to help out here and request from ED if they can address what ever has changed with this, and if it can be raised as an official bug to be corrected. What they have done with 1.2.6 here needs to be addressed.

Please guys, puhlease!! 6000 views, and I don't think one tester has commented here as yet?

No idea but it's porked, and slightly peeved no one has noted that it's been seen and will be raised with ED to be addressed in the next patch.
