Cibit Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Hi I have been practicing my cold start procedures and after engine start up and after the radios are on it says in the quick start guide to engage yaw stability via button press on centre console. Only thing is the button does not turn green, I suspect I am doing something wrong but I have no idea what:cry: Help most appreciated:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
seikdel Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Are you sure all your circuit breakers are on? And the GMC and Doppler systems? Beyond that, I have also lost autopilot functionality before and been unable to restore it. If it only happened once, it's possibly a bug. If it happens every time you cold start, it's probably a missed step.
ED Team PilotMi8 Posted September 27, 2013 ED Team Posted September 27, 2013 Hi I have been practicing my cold start procedures and after engine start up and after the radios are on it says in the quick start guide to engage yaw stability via button press on centre console. Only thing is the button does not turn green, I suspect I am doing something wrong but I have no idea what:cry: Help most appreciated:) For the autopilot proper operation you need switch in: - CB - electr.power 27V (DC) - 115V AC (single-phase) - 36 V AC (three-phase) - For the channel roll-pitch - attitude indicator (AGB-3K left, but really - right , fix later) - For the channel direction (yaw stability) - heading system (GMK-1A). However, for taxi not recommended switch in channel direction (yaw stability) autopilot. Channel direction (yaw stability) is recommended to switch in after take-off on a straight path.
Cibit Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 Thanks for this, I am finding the autopilot very easy to use and seem to be doing quite well with it. The problem was the startup and with your info I hope to sort it out. ED Team PilotMi8 Posted September 29, 2013 ED Team Posted September 29, 2013 ...and with your info I hope to sort it out. AC power sources, see screenshot. 1
gunterlund21 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 yes I think its a bug because I cant get the stability augmentation system to come on from a cold start. Green lights wont come on and my switches are set the same as the instant action mission. Im also noting that nav lights , formation lights dont come on from a cold start... I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!

Do you have your throttle open? If it is not open (enough), the generator(s) might not produce enough power for some systems.
26-J39 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Haven't had any problems myself, and Yup rotors need to be at 95% or something. I have noticed tho if you spool up the rotors then flick your inverters and rectifiers on, then try to turn on Stab Aug it wont come on. Inverters and rectifiers need to be on before you spool rotor rpm up to 95%. 1
xxJohnxx Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Hi, Inverters and rectifiers need to be on before you spool rotor rpm up to 95%. That is not the case for me. I normally switch the generators and rectifiers on after the RPM has stabalized at 95%. Works just fine for me. But I suggest to stick to the cold start procedure demonstrated in the 'TRAINING' section. That one should start up your Mi-8 just perfect. 26-J39 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Yes sorry my mistake I meant rectifiers and generators 1&2.
TimeKilla Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This might help OP. 1 :joystick: YouTube :pilotfly: TimeKilla on Flight Sims over at YouTube.
gunterlund21 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Do you have your throttle open? If it is not open (enough), the generator(s) might not produce enough power for some systems. Throttle is cranked. Its interesting how the startup process is very similar to the Ka-50. Buttons are in different spots and a few added but very close indeed. I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!
gunterlund21 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This might help OP. Timekilla Ill review this again. Maybe Im not letting the engines get up to full power. I did this same sequence yesterday but didnt wait for the power to get to 95% before I stared flipping more switches. Also in the manual it says to turn off the de-icing breakers. great video.
