Shadoware Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Im playing dcs A-10c witch is great game. I was thinking that this game already has some options to reduce realism, like game avionic mode and game flight mode etc. I really think all jetfighter's game like DCS, and others lacks some speed sensation, so the game could have some other option to increase visual speed. This can compromise realism but the DCS games already has the option to be less realistic. Watching this youtube video, I really dont think theres a simulation pc game that transmit this speed sensation. I think many players would love this feature because it increases fun, and is seems not complicated to implement. You could just change some speed factor or scale. ShuRugal Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 how do you propose this be accomplished? Even IRL, the only way you get any real speed sensation is by flying really close to something not moving (like the ground)...
Flagrum Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 If you want speed, then do it like they did in that video: fly fast and low. The A-10C is not really fast. And then you should consider that we sim pilots usually lack a natural FOV and peripheral vision - we look at the world through a straw. At least it is not something the developers can change in their code. There is no such thing as "set natural_speed_sensation = true" ...
Shadoware Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) I undestang you guys! What Iam saying is that when you fly low you should see the ground(and other objects) moving faster! Just that! When you fly a little higher you should see ground moving a little faster too! Look at the ground in that youtube video I posted above! When you fly through mountains you could see them passing by more fast too! We also could realize our plane crossing distances a bit faster. Im not talking just about DCS A-10c or other DCS games. I lack this feature in all plane simulator! I lack this feature in all plane simulator! I just took a ride with the F-15 - on full AB and at about 100 ft AGL. Banking left, banking right, taking turns, looking around and looking back - oh boy, that WAS FAST. (although really scary to look behind you while your wing tips almost touch the ground, lol) So, tbh, I can't really understand your complains. If you want to have a good sensation of speed, just fly fast. And the closer you fly to some objects (i.e. ground), the higher the percieved (angular) speed is. TIR helps alot, too ofc. And if you are still not satisfied ... you can't make the ground move faster at a given speed of the aircraft (wtf tbh). But you can probably mod the .LUA files to make your plane go faster (not for FC3 planes, though). xxJohnxx Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Thats getting difficult. And even if you manage to speed up your plane and reduce the instruments that will probably give you problems, especially in multiplayer. And it's unrealistic... Rongor Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 You want to play some arcade game. I am afraid DCS is not your type of game then. The speed of an A-10 is somewhat limited. So stick to it or play games that offer planes going as fast as in your linked video. By the way I think we now understood that you know a lot of languages and you detect portuguese. I always thought this is english.

You should be able to tweak the engine's characteristics - or "change" the engine for one that allows higher speeds. But what consequences this might have on the other avionics components ... I don't know. But I still don't get how you think your approach could possibly work. If an object moves with 300 mph, the ground moves with 300 mph in relation to that object. How can you change just one side of this EQUAtion? For example, what would the navigation system do? The aircraft flies 300 miles with 300 mph in one hour from point A to point B. But from the other side, you want it to look like it flies with 600 mph. Now, where are you one hour later? You passed point B half an hour ago ...!? But make sure you really understand what you get if you buy FC3 (3D and 6dof cockpit, but not clickable!) and what prerequisites it has (i.e. old version of Lomac is necessary!). winchesterdelta1 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 You will only get realistic speed sensation if you increase the detail of objects, ground textures and other visual effects. You can see that really good in Arma 2 and 3. How more detail and objects are on the map how faster the helicopter flying seems to go. Its because of the fast changing scenery thats never the same. So you perceive it differently. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Flagrum Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Im using Firefox 25. Hrm, are you using any "weired" plug-ins? So, It just need the aircraft fly faster and the instruments and relevant systems show speed = ( speed * 3/4) for example. So, basically, you want your 1/3 cake look like it was just an 1/4 piece ... It is not only the gauges that show your speed. If you DO fly faster, than the whole characteristics of the aircraft changes. And it does not end just with the flight model. Think again about my earlier navigation example. Or about the G forces the pilot experiences. etc. etc. It really does not add up....
