Crazyowl Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 So I want to change my old video card Gforce gtx 460 and I dont whant to spend more that 350 on a card, maybe 400. My specs are: Amd Phenom II X4 965 processor 3.4ghz 12 gb Ram SSD 128gb and a 2 hard drive HDD 600gb 850 Ultra X3 power supply I only have 1 pci Ex 2.0 slot available and the size for the card in the PC case it says it have a 12.63 inches so I imagine I can't pass that size, maybe 11.5 or close. I want to put good graphics on high and good FPS. Also I only run one monitor at 1920 x 1080. Use Track-IR, hotas warthog and CH rudder. Also I like nvidia better. :) but oppen for suggestions if the case appear. Any help or suggestions are welcome. C.O.
joey45 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Is this in £ $ or Euros?? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Rhinox Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 R9-290 (some of them can be cross-flashed to 290X) or GTX780. No matter which one you pick, cpu will be your bottleneck...
Nopileus Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 To put it bluntly, if you are expecting a huge performance boost in DCS you will also need a new CPU. Other than that right now the AMD R9 280x and R9 290 are probably the best bang for your buck and should fit your budget regardless of which currency we're talking about. The Nvidia equivalent being the GTX770 and GTX780, both of which cost noticably more. If you decide for the R9 290 i suggest you wait for variants with a better cooler, the reference design is fairly loud.
Bee_Sting Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 XFX Radeon HD7870 2GB,MSI GeForce GTX 660 2GB or ti, or PNY GeForce GTX670 2GB. These are good for Dcs and shouldn't cause a bottleneck in your system. They are in your price range with good power to play your games.
Mustang Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Just got a MSI HD7850 2gb a few days ago for £120 off eBay, it's very nice (running at 1050core/1300 mem) :)

Yup...my 965be@4 was bottlenecking my 7850 2gb... No matter which modern GFX u gonna pick up ur CPU will bottleneck it. Edited November 23, 2013 by trooph
Bee_Sting Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 His cpu is a good cpu why would it bottleneck at 3.4 or at 4? if you can get a gtx 580 pick it up. Too bad Dcs don't support sli or xfire.
