fjacobsen Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 How can I drop bombs with the Mi-8 in 1.2.7. I got rockets on station 1+6, gunpods on station 2+5 and bombs on 3+4 (inner). Setting the mode knob to II does not help. Can someone give a detailed description on how to set up the weapons system ? Beforehand thanks. fjacobsen Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) I did find out, but still like some info.. Here we go... Turn on all these switches: Also set this to armed: This is my loadout: Which means that I must set the switches like this: And now the new one... On the copilot position You will find the ESBR panel: Turn the small switch to On. Turn the dial to either I (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 ) or II (2-4-6-8 ) To drop the bombs turn the dial for each bomb release. If the dial starts at I then for each step (1-2-3-4-5-6) one bomb will be released. If the dial starts at II (2-4-6-8 ) then two bombs will be released per step. You can also set the dial to I and then press "B" to release one bomb per "B" press. Question is why the dial goes to 8. Maybe cause in the real worls other loadauts are possible, or the ESBR is used in other aircraft with differnet loadout options. fjacobsen Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Yeah.. But I still don´t feel 100% confident in how the ESBR panel is meant to work, but at least I can drop bombs single and in pairs now, maybe there isn´t more to it. fjacobsen Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) I made some further testing... Her is how the ESBR dial relates to the pylon type selector: The numbers in the table for pylon type and weapon station are the ESBR number that drops the bomb(s) from the station when the ESBR dial is turned to that number (don´t press "B"). Using the "B" will do the same thing as turning the dial, but the dial will not be animated to the stepped position - maybe a bug. It´s much easier to get the hang of it by simply turning the dial instead. F.ex With Pylon type III You want to drop the bomb on station 5. Set ESBR On/Off switch to Off Turn the dial to 3 Set ESBR On/Off switch to On When ready to drop the station 4 bomb, turn the ESBR dial from 3 to 4 and the bomb will be dropped. I know that Mi-24 Hinds in Afghanistan carried as many as 10 FAB-100s on bombing attacks. I haven't seen photos, but I assume that an MDB-4 was used on the inner pylons and a single bomb on the outer pylons.

fjacobsen Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) You might be right that the "B" button does the same as turning the dial, which means that for each step of the ESBR position dial you will release another bomb for it's according pylon number, and that it sometimes, but not always, stops rotating and remains stuck in one position. But there is another problem that the ESBR's dial position doesn't correspond to the real pylon's number. For example, you set the ESBR to 5 and then turn on the ESBR, then a bomb from pylon 3 will be released instead of 5 and so on with the other bombs. Don't know if i may have misunderstood the ESBR's numbers meaning, but they don't seem to mach the pylon's numbers (from 1 through 6 if this is the logical counting, while 7 and 8 might be for other aircraft that are equipped with the same system, as we presume). Good day! Good day... Please read this post I wrote: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1953317&postcount=9 And You can see the relation between ESBR Dial and Pylon type setting. According to Your description: "For example, you set the ESBR to 5 and then turn on the ESBR, then a bomb from pylon 3 will be released instead of 5"... I can the see that You have selected Pylon type II with the ESBR dial set in the "I" range at 5. Skulleader Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Hello, I know how drop my bombs but one thing that I don't know it's the good moment when I must drop my bombs above the target. Please can you explain the best way for drop the bomb (FAB) above one target because it's my big problem with the Mi-8. If I well understand the only way is the third place (copilot) for drop the bomb ? On the first place (pilot) I can just launch my missiles, machines guns, but not the bombs, is it true ? Do you have videos, exemples, tutorials and other informations for understand the best moment for drop my bombs above the target ? A great thanks in advance for your help. Cibit Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) I think the bomb aiming sight is not modeled yet. It is similar to the bomb sights fitted to old bombers. I think Imp found some info on it:) Here it is http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115960&highlight=bomb Edited June 25, 2014 by Cibit i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

spaceraver Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) If you really want to drop bombs on anything, read page 201 and 202 of the manual for instructions on the PKV sight bombing. There is a large table for height, speed and delay. Quite the art form to get done. Oh, and there are no delay fuse implemented yet.
