danilop Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 So, after 30 mins or so, we get note to "Check EO Timer". I acknowledge it, and ignore it happily. Are we supposed to cool down the system by switching off the Maverick, or this aspect is not modeled in DCS? Haven't noticed degradation in performance TBH, however, I'm not sure about lock on ranges when the seeker is cooked. What's the final word on this?
Tucano_uy Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 AFAIK, at this stage it is purely cosmetic. Pity that some kind of degradation is not modeled.

cichlidfan Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Since it's been brought up again... This is a place where the manual should have large bold letters saying that this is not modeled. Flagrum Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Yes I agree Sobek, I thought it was modelled as wel?? What is modelled is, that you can configure when EO is powered on automatically (depending on bearing or distance or waypoint). Maybe it is that what you had in mind?
ApoNOOB Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 This is the firstm time I hear that this might be actually modelled. If so, it is barely noticable. Same as inflight alignment I guess. (not modelled also)

So, to avoid ending up with dead MAVs once you get to your target, you want to activate them only just before you intend to use them.

Hmm, I thought it was the seeker getting out of alignment with whatever therefore making your shots miss much more often?
