I loaded Vikhrs on the external pods and the inner pods had the external fuel tanks. I only switched on the inner external fuel tank switch. I refueled full. I flew to the AO. The fuel gage never left the full mark.

I switched from the inner tank, switch to off, then switched the internal tanks, fore and aft, dropped the inner fuel tanks and rtb. (I was just experimenting; the external tanks were not needed.)

Is there fuel gage representation of the external fuel tanks? Or do the external tanks feed the inner tanks? How to know where the external fuel tanks capacity is?

Thanks for any help.

Empty tank = 110 Kg each

Fuel Capacity = 440 Kg each

Total = 550 Kg each

You can know that the ext tank are empty when their internal Pump automatically turn off, the relative Fuel Pump light in the overhead panel turn off.

A couple of aux fuel tank add 1 hour of endurance at economic fuel cons. rate.

Hope you find this info useful, bye!

The left wing external fuel tanks feed the rear tank. The right wing external fuel tanks feed the forward tank.

There is a floating valve between the external fuel tanks and the internal fuel tanks they feed. So, if the fuel level in the main tank is only slightly lowered, fuel from the external fuel tanks will be able to seep into the main fuel tanks. This continues until the external fuel tanks are empty. At this point you will notice a decline in the fuel level as the main fuel tanks are no longer replenished.

For more info see page 466-468 in the flight manual.

Fun story: I once flew the courier mission but forgot to turn on the external fuel pumps. I lost my engines just as I was landing by the truck =)

Haha, that was *exactly* the same time I ran into that problem seikdel! The internal fuel remnant in that mission is apparently juuuuuust enough to get to the broken down truck. Personally, I did in fact remember to flip the external fuel pump switch... but I didn't check my status board, and that was the time I got to discover that the "weapons sys" switch has to be armed for the external pumps to work, apparently.
