I have in the past made post on how to make any aircraft flyable. Simple text edits, how to's. ED didnt mind. You cannot package a cockpit from FC3 and distribute it. Or any other dcs Module.

I have a lot of fun with a F-5 with a Mig-29 pit for example. Sure its not correct. But its still fun for a while.

Note: I quit because I broke too many installs.

i just want to find a mod that make some of these things flyable WITHOUT needing FC3 (because everyone that I know that plays DCS, including me, doesn't have FC3)

DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!!

Aircraft: A-10C, Ka-50, UH-1H, MiG-21, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T, TF-51

hmmm. that wasnt the su25T cockpit... the comments reference a flyable mod at ED forums but any search i have tried comes up blank - is this perhaps the old VNAO mod?

I have Moa's Stallturn mod in FC2 for VNAO. There is no flyable F-4 in mine. There is a Mig-29K with a hook, a F-18F, and F-14. You have to use the Mission Editor to play with them.

http://stallturn.com/wiki/en/VNAO_mods/

Maybe the EFA mod for FC2? (Extra Flyable Aircraft)

Yea, my EFA mod for FC2 has a F-4E Phantom II. This has to be configured in the Mission Editor. I do not remember what cockpit it uses. There was a Chinese (inSky) and a separate French server running this mod. I just looked around for servers. The Chinese ping rate from NY was like 500.

FC2 still has servers up running, even BS1 version 1.02 is running currently.

I found the EFA mod somewhere...

Found this, dates back to 2010. Had it in my bookmarks. Still good?

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52783

If you do not find the EFA mod that works, PM me, and I will look around. Knowing me, I probably saved it somewhere.

I have the latest and greatest, but I still sometimes run the older stuff.

I can do one F-4 with the Su-25T cockpit, that seems like it won't get me in any trouble. It'll allow the use of aim-9 for defense and the camera can be used with laser guided bombs aslong as you can keep the camera on target. It's quite easy, I do it with the Tornado often. I'll PM you about the delivery of the aircraft :)

What is the input folder for this plane?

I can't seem to get my controls working.

Same thing here. Have to use Alt+Tab to exit the simulator. Same problem with all f-4 mods I tried so far (gerritboom, rsvnpilot), same thing with the f-18 mods. Tried downgrading to version 1.2.7 - same problem.

Edit: I did get the F-4E to run with DCS v1.2.7: I only had to re-bind an input key in-game for it to recognize the controls - but after that it worked just fine (goes also for the F-18, only tried DCS v1.2.7). It does however seem to be impossible (for now) to get the F-4E running with DCS 1.2.9 (in-game controls input page keeps showing up completely blank, no matter what I try).

But, in general, yes, it's possible to fly the F-4 : D

Try naming it F-4e phantom ii

Did that... Checked all .lua files (entry, etc. also in the saved games folder) to make sure it was all using exactly the same names. Did appear there was some inconsistent naming, but for 1.2.7 it didn't appear to make much difference (it does make it more stable though when uninstalling and reinstalling mods with JSGME).

For 1.2.9 it díd make the controls page under options in-game show up properly, but it still didn't enable controls, nor after pasting the Su-33 controls over the input lua's to make sure all keys were defined.

Last time I checked DCS even crashed while loading the simulator (same for the F-18).

I'll keep trying to get the flyable mods working again in 1.2.9 but I'm a total noob at this so it may take some time... So thanks for the suggestion : )
