Back on topic then, is anybody else enjoying how much fun the MiG is to simply just fly? No mission, no targets, just just taking the jet into the sky and cutting loose. I think I spent almost a week just simply flying around in VR before I even looked at any of the combat systems in it. Flying this in VR during a sunrise rain storm in the Caucasus Mountains has probably been my single best VR experience to date on any platform.

Appreciate the info. I mislead you, sorry...Let me clarify, the game/sim crashed to the steam menu 5 times, normally after a good cold start and just upon power up on the runway. I completely re-booted my system each 5 times to try and insure a clean system. In reference to the crash logs, I know they are in the saved games..., however the only ones I saw after the last crash was from a previous month. I'll try again tomorrow. BTW, thanks for your help!!

Absolutely NOT! Not suitable for helicopters in any way! The best joystick based for helicopters are FFB bases or non-spring bases that DO NOT return to centre. Btw. Have you set your collective axis as a slider in the axis tuning? If you want a force sensing base for other modules, ask @Raven (Elysian Angel) for advice. She has the Realsimulator one. Cheers!

The F4 shakes violently still. I did a very very short mission, like 3 minutes. Just to practice GBU bombing. The track not only shakes terribly, but the bomb itself missed by half a mile. While in actual play it hit. This was in singleplayer. In multiplayer, the F4 shakes to the extreme. To the point there's no use in F1 or F2 views. I tried to zoom in on the tv screen. But it shakes to violently you can't see anything. If I use the automatically generated track in my dedicated server folder. The aircraft doesn't shakes. But then you can't use F1 view.

Delete your Saved Games\DCS\launcher.sqlite3 file and start DCS again.

I think Afghanistan has become my new go to map! I find myself creating missions and flying missions in this map more than any of the others lately. With the correct lighting and weather setting it looks so realistic now. With a nice haze and some low lying clouds it’s just awesome to fly around. Even flying in the helicopters I like this map. Flying in some of the valley’s with mountains on each side is just incredible. I’ve made a few Mi-24P Hind missions trying to recreate the 80’s feel of the USSR up against the mujahideen And it’s quite fun and challenging. I can’t wait for some of the other outlying areas to be completed. I used to fly the Sinai map a lot but now I find the Afghanistan map the more realistic looking map. It’s come a long ways from when it was first released and it’s looking really good.

hello. thanks for making another topic. i suggest going into DCS folder in Saved Games. Find the options.lua file. open it in Notepad within that file find the line ["launcher"] = true, and change to ["launcher"] = false, see if DCS opens.

I was suspecting this, but is it really feeding fuel to the engine continuously if one doesn't push the throttle to the max 1.8ATA/max RPM? I thought it'd do it only in the max position?

You have heaps of mods. Can you try removing those and delete your Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 caches. You can put them back afterwards, but lets at least rule out any issues there. You have core parking enabled. You can use the ParkControl software to disable core parking for your power management profiles. Drop your preload radius down to 60000. It's currently 100000, this will save some of the load time along with reducing VRAM and RAM usage. If you haven't already then you can also add a folder exclusion to your anti-virus software, e.g. Windows Defender, for the entire DCS installation folder, and then restart your PC. This may help if it's scanning the DLLs while loading.

True! I bought the campaign some time ago but only recently started to play as I was worried thet planning the flight(s) will be difficult BUT is very simple and almost intuitive and now I'm so thrilled and excited! Currently at mission 06 with 50-60% of Sam activity ( principally Rapier, two SA-6 and one SA-10 at Bandar A Jask left) and 90-100% of air superiority- Now is time for the counterattack and can't wait. Thanks to @Sandman Simulations for another ton of fun. If Iron Tide as simple to manage as FS I'll buy very soon ( Iìve also the Tomcat but still don't touch it...)

Nah, OpenComposite takes OpenVR games (not OpenXR like DCS) and "converts" (like a bridge) them to OpenXR. So basically is intended to "allow" SteamVR games to run using OpenXR. Because DCS is already OpenXR none of that is needed. You just need to set your runtime of choice (PimaxPlay or Mbucchia's PimaxXR) as the default OpenXR runtime and it'll use that. If you have set SteamVR to be the runtime for OpenXR it will open SteamVR. Drop another crash log zip file from one of those occurrences. If the system is rebooting then this means a Windows issue and not the game itself. Typically an issue with drivers or memory. Unless I misunderstood your comment and these are reboots you are doing manually. If Windows is rebooting and not a game crash then there likely won't be a crash zip. Run the Windows DxDiag tool, save the output, and drop that here as well as a DCS log file from a crash.

This log is just from the launcher and not a complete boot into DCS. This log is also from the DCS in bin-mt and not bin. This post has also been solved and you're responding to something from 4 months ago. You should raise your own new post if you're having issues.

If I press escape. They wheel isn't visible and nothing i bind for jester wheel has any effect in replays
