  2. Gothenburg (Sweden) AeroShow 2008, mostly old stuff, but the Gripen was also there :) Here's some of the pics I took. A Swedish "Tiger Moth", landing after a Overhead pattern JAS 39B "Gripen" and some of its weapons Single-seat "Gripen" J 29 "Flying Barrel" SAR Helicopter, simulating a rescue :) One of the few Russian planes at the Airshow, Yak-55 Hawker "Hunter" With 4 x 30mm cannons Saab J 32 "Lansen" And a nice "Mustang". Spitfire was also present, but I didn't get a good shot of it. "Gripen" taxing out for its display :) Tight turn with AB active :) Doing the standard high-alpha/low-speed pass. The speed is at 180kph ;) Pilot waving after the show :D Hope you enjoyed them! :) Cheers

  4. You are right. Actually, you can zoom the current map and change the map set (see combobox on the right of the map with Default and detailled). I have made some optimisation for the map for faster display and add a new set of map called "Large" that display all the theater on the screen! (not yet available in nightly, just on svn). :D It will available in few days (in the next nightly version)...

  5. Yes but the Abris is not 100% reliable. I remember in Beach's 2nd vid, his abris was out to lunch because he only had 4 Sats right above his head, and trshld (threshold) was displayed at the top of the screen. When he did see a 5th sat, he had PDOP 30 (Positional Dilution of Precision), which means his abris is still only accurate to 30-50 meters. Unless of course it read PDOP 3D, in which case i need my eyes checked. I would like to know if we have access to an Almanac, so we can plan our missions around a time when we will have a good sat constellation?!

  6. Far out. I did a search for "kamov" and got one article: Title: A Survey of Theoretical and Experimental Coaxial Rotor Aerodynamic Research Abstract: The recent appearance of the Kamov Ka-50 helicopter and the application of coaxial rotors to unmanned aerial vehicles have renewed international interest in the coaxial rotor configuration. This report addresses the aerodynamic issues peculiar to coaxial rotors by surveying American, Russian, Japanese, British, and German research. (Herein, 'coaxial rotors' refers to helicopter, not propeller, rotors. The intermeshing rotor system was not investigated.) Issues addressed are separation distance, load sharing between rotors, wake structure, solidity effects, swirl recovery, and the effects of having no tail rotor. A general summary of the coaxial rotor configuration explores the configuration's advantages and applications. I guess I have something to read tonight now!

  7. I would really like to see MiG-21 and F-14 as future DCS modules, but also MiG-29, F-16, F-18 and Mirage-2000... no wait... also Tornado, the Harrier... the Su-27... MiG-25... man... the list goes on!
