  2. Hi, "Designed to help create new patterns and skins." I recently used RCN_Moose's guide to skinning the ka-50. It's excellent, thanks. However i found the official ED psd templates a bit of a handful and not the easiest to follow. Placing patterns across panels was a nightmare. So i adapted the original files to make them easier to use and place patterns upon. I expect photoshop users out there will appreciate these files...they would have helped me. :) I have adapted the two main skin files: All the original parts are still included: KA-50-PAINT1.psd KA-50-PAINT2.psd Here are some examples of helpers and markings to help re-skin the ka-50. I hope this helps.   4. No, it's not a game. It's a simulation in every aspect, and that is very different from a game, particularly in depth and enjoyability. Going by your post, what you want is something entirely different than DCS. Why do people insist on watering down the DCS standards just so they can fly their favorite aircraft? Actually, this would be "retreading old ground," as you say; much more so than making an A-10C module. They did what you're asking very well with LOMAC, now it's time for something different. If you want it to be a glazed over mock up based on shoddy information, do it yourself instead of asking a very serious and respectable developer to throw their principles of design and quality out for your benefit. I'm sorry if that's a bit harsh, it just seems like there's a new thread exactly like this every few days, except with helo "x" or jet "y" instead of the comanche. I resent seeing so many people ask ED to lower the bar on their principles of design and quality with this product line, especially considering all the hard work, time and dedication that it took to bring a sim to the civilian market with such amazingly rich depth. I can't help but think ED must feel similar when they read these posts. edit: Looks like I responded too slowly, there's already another selfish, whiney post telling ED how to do their job. Not everyone is solely interested in helicopters. I like both, but I prefer jets and am a HUGE A-10 fan. There's also alot of like minded people out there waiting for a fixed wing sim of DCS caliber very anxiously, so I think they are trying to please as many people as possible as quickly as possible. You heli dudes got the first go around (bastards!:pilotfly:), now it's the jet jockies turn: deal with it. AS for multiplayer, it's always been ED's intention to make it a coop oriented experience, at least early on. None the less, there are plenty of ways to balance having A-10's and KA-50's in the same map, on opposing factions or an alliance. Really though, my main problem with all this boils down to the fact that I would be extremely happy with with any aircraft modelled with the DCS quality of simulation, and I don't understand why more people don't feel the same.

  5. The German print magazine GameStar reviewed DCS Black Shark and rated it with 72% Their biggest beef with Black Shark is the low detail of the landscape, and I have to agree. The mesh isn't very detailed, and I see lots of pyramid mountains when flying around that I thought to be extinct since the 90s. But I don't think that justifies the relatively low rating they gave this otherwise excellent sim. Here's the translation of their pros and cons: Graphics (6/10): + very detailed helicopter + nice cockpit view - neglected landscape - mediocre explosions - few lighting effects Sound (8/10): + very atmospheric real sound effects of the K-50 + good English localization - no German speakers Balance (7/10): + arcade and simulation mode + manual with all details - rather useless tutorials - very steep learning curve Atmosphere (8/10): + real feel of flight when using a joystick + eventful battles + debriefings - lifeless landscapes - no real career Controls (7/10): + joystick freely configurable + instruments usable in the cockpit via mouse - lots of keyboard shortcuts - manual only a PDF file Content (8/10): + Black Shark with all details + many missions, downloads also + mission editor - only one helicopter Realism (8/10): + vehicles and weapons ultra realistic + very believable flight model - flat landscapes make tactics useless Artificial Intelligence (6/10): + AI mates sometimes really helpful - AI mates acted erratic and randomly too often - enemies provide little variety Tuning (8/10): + many optional helps + weather conditions customizable + every system of the K-50 can fail Flight Territories (6/10): + eurasian border territory of 330.000 km² - blurry and often undetailed landscapes - often desolate country sides, little variety And here's the conclusion of the author: "Black Shark not only demands a lot of time but also a huge amount of concentration. Someone who only wants to explore the thin air for a while will be content with the arcade mode but will miss out on the uncanny depth of the simulation mode. It's a pity that the game on one hand allows to study the technology of the helicopter to its finest details but that on the other hand the professional knowledge is useless over the superflat landscapes. The tactical elements that are a result of the lowflying capabilities of the aircraft are not really covered by this simulation." I can't really understand that criticism. So far I encountered many hills and mountains during the deployment stage of the first campaign. Although they lack quite a few polygons they still provide enough cover to use the tactical advantages of a combat helicopter.

  8. Yes, Im sure they are largely untouched by a peace keeping mission from NATO considering no large scale invasion ever occurred. Ill remember Serbs using human shields to deter NATO air strikes. Thats a great accomplishment there, isnt it. Maybe these rubber airplanes can prevent that in the future. ;)

  10. And another thing... lol I've watched a ton of Ka-50 videos on the web. And almost every one of them I think "damn that really looks like the territory covered in BS". So as far as their saying the landscape is bleak, etc.. I've never been there but the videos of Ka-50 demo's show tall skinny trees, flat lands, desolate/farm lands, rivers, mountains, hills, valleys, snow, rain, mist, roads, buildings, and lots of powerlines. I think ED got it right on the money. We're not at war in the French Riviera after all.

Этот эфект (а также блики солнца на приборах), например в FSX, существенно улучшает визуальное восприятие происходящего на экране монитора в сторону реализма. Это не поучение, а пожелание. Искренне уважаю Вас и желаю не утонуть в океане попсни и треша.

  12. Working on a function that will produce a lua log file ;). This file could possibly contain mUCH MUCH more information than mp_log for you stats guys out there...and also for mission rotation and status update softare ;)

  13. I can't agree with few really weird opinions: I agree with these opinions. But graphic is not so bad, even for 2009 year is quite pretty. I would give here +7 I would give here 5. Bad sound engine is painful. A "no German speakers" shouldn't be a minus IMHO. It is not must be. Can't agree with "very steep learning curve". It shouldn't have been a HAWX. About tutorials I agree, not very useful but not bad at all. Interactive would be cool. "lifeless landscapes"... I feel same, can't explain this. "lots of keyboard shortcuts" - don't know how can be it a minus :ermm: "manual only a PDF file" - again... so maybe PowerPoint?... PDF is flexible. "only one helicopter" - game's title says something about this... "weapons and vehicles ultra realistic" - I am worried if this reviewer knows something about. Don't know how tanks, another vehicles which can't self defence like popping smoke, running away ect are "ultra realistic". Due of this behaviour (and similar issues) battlefield realism drops down very much. 8/10 is way too much. Conclusion of the author about superflat terrain IMO is unfair. There are many hills and similar climbs.

  20. I've bounced into this wheel problems a few times, but then in max. What I did to fix it was to make a helper object and linked the wheel to this object. THen I animated the helper object to do the animation, and that fixed it. Also remember to have one animation key for each 90*, so one for 0, one for 90*, one for 180, and 270 and finally 360. Otherwise the rotation wont show properly in lockon. Hope this helps:thumbup:

  26. I have thought of a nice way to work with disparate airframes / technologies, if, some time in the future we have all of the DCS modules up and running. Each airframe is worth a value. In the setup of a large mutliplayer scenario, each side (red / blue) has a "budget" and can "purchase" the airframes they want up to the level of their budget. The lower tech airframes (Ka50, mi24, AH64a, su25) are inexpensive compared to the high tech airframes (A10c, F16c, F15c etc..) and so it is a compramise between the number of airframes you can "afford" and the relative technology levels. So you might choose to purchase 4x KA50's , or 1 x A10 with the same "money" to achieve the same goal... In this way, all of the airframes might get used , not necessarily because they are the best for the job , but because the "budget" is worked out in such a way that it is the most efficient use of it. If this kind of system can be utilised (say in big red flag type events) , then I can see ALL ariframe types beeing used and beeing useful, rather than everyone flying the high tech range killers. ..just an idle thought.

  30. Нашёл у себя причину отказа запуска игры по причине VisualC++ . Это была программка использующая при инсталяции свою библиотеку C++ . Отсюда какой делать выбор : или эта программа или игра ? :huh: Всё-таки , считаю нужно Вам доработать Ваше приложение :joystick: ! Но несмотря на все эти заморочки игра продолжает вылетать в мультиплэере по той же ошибке C++ Runtime .... Но вроде пишут , что в патче пофиксят . Поживём - увидим :pilotfly:

  33. Toasters, the reason why DCS is so great is the very fact that they don't "use their imaginations" and "ad-lib" some alternatives. Playing an "interpretation" of a Comanche might be fun and all, but it has been done allready. (And quite well, tbh.) So while it may be an entertainment product, it is one that caters to simulation fans and makes every attempt to be as true to the real thing as it is possible to be on a PC. If they were to suddenly start guesstimating they would be destroying all the marketing and branding they've done for DCS. When you purchase a DCS game you'll know it is a very detailed simulation based on the real thing, and for as long as they have real-life data from their military projects I expect they'll want to keep it that way - and that's the way I like it. If they end up running dry on airframes that they can model to DCS-level fidelity, then I would be open to them launching a more gamey simulation, but I expect that to be under a different brand name so as not to dilute something that I hope will become a by-word for maximum realism and massive attention to detail.

  36. Ускоренно- это как? Shift+Home?:megalol: Теперь по теме: в реальном режиме (в симе) он запускается как настоящий. Исключением является режимы работы некоторых систем, но это уже тонкости. А настоящий верт запустить можно. Админы, закройте тему во избежание стеба, Аминь.

  37. I've messed with replacing the default kabina files with the F-15 one a while back. A lot of stuff didn't transfer over like the HUD is gone and whatnot...it's all wacky.

  39. Thanks guys. :thumbup: In my point of view the Mig-21 should be replaced the exist M-2000 modell in Lockon. Because it has an almost same structure, gear "touchdown" point and afterburner position too. The plane has a detailed engine, radar, gear and avionics bays, seat etc.. but the unique damage modell doesn't work without the new Mig-21 FM. :huh: In this case the plane seems to break/lost only on the wings and tails. Because only the the Su-25T or the Ka-50 have an unique damage model in LoFc/DCS. P.S.: All parts marked yellow will be animate.
