  2. My new TrackIR 5 just came in the mail. I upgraded from a 4, putting the 4 up on eBay immediately when I received the notice about the 5 and it ended up costing about $50 to upgrade. My impressions? Well I'm truly amazed at how much better this thing is. It literally tracks every movement I could make. I can't get it stuck anywhere where I would need to recenter. For example I can turn my head around twice and it tracks the whole turn movement. I know you can't do that with the 4 model. Overall, VERY impressed - the stats on paper really do make this a huge jump in models.

  5. Here the posts with screenshots, if you like it. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=686688&postcount=312 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=686691&postcount=314 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=686724&postcount=324 — video settings tab. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=686728&postcount=327 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=686765&postcount=338 — screenshot with burned barrage balloon. P.S. I.e. right after installation you'll need to download a [1st] patch about 200 MB, and it is possible through the installed game interface only (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=686836&postcount=351).

  6. Don't know whether it has been asked before in this thread, but haven't got the time to read all 86 pages... Please fix multi-player AAR. At this moment, only the host can refuel, because clients don't see the hoses on the IL-78.

  7. flying missions over and over can over simplify the sim. People just learn where and when they are safe. If attacked during cruise, I'll maneuver into a defensive 360 to regroup with my wingman and hopefully get back to the safe area for an attack. Using a hunter/killer technique works well too if practiced with your wingman. The WM hangs back and has the HMS ready to designate any Sam or AAA that targets his/her wing leader flying a KM or two ahead. Wing lead needs to be good at evading for this :) People that seem to enjoy just blasting things will tire and stop flying BS in a short while. It is a flight sim and that means from start to end of the mission. There is so much depth to use, but it is up to the pilot and group they fly with to make use of it.

  8. I heard various combat vehicules, IRL, and I can assure you that the wheeled fleet like the LAV25, Striker, LAV III don't squeak/. It's more like city bus sound, with a little more roar, all you hear is the engine being punished. Squeaking comes from heavy tracked vehicules, such a Leo tanks, M113, Bradleys, Abrahms etc... For what I can from my past experience, all you hear from the Leo at a distance, is the terrifying loud and heavy rumble from the massive diesel engine. The grounds actually tremble. The tracks squeaks are heard from a relatively short distance, less than 300m. Pit

  9. There are three VHF radios in the Ka-50 VHF-1 R-828 VHF-2 (Primary) R-800 VHF-2 (Emergency) R-800 The manual is poorly worded calling the "R-800L1 is a VHF-2 command radio system" because there's no such type of radio called VHF-2. VHF-2 is just a label so you can tell it apart from VHF-1. It's news to me that the secondary (emergency) R-800 radio handles datalink data. I thought the primary R-800 handled that. It's probably correct though. The R-800 should be VHF but technically the minimum frequency in the UHF range is down at 300MHz. There's also the possibility that the datalink is happening at UHF frequencies but they only advertise the VHF frequencies where voice traffic happens. A frequency range of 100-400Mhz clearly classifies the radio as VHF only. I'm guessing it's a goof on the website. As for the automatic data transmission system that updates ground controllers. That's got to be a sort of air-to-ground datalink just like our air-to-air datalink. It might technically be modeled simply because when you ask for a vector to home base over the radio the controllers magically know where you are to give you the proper vector. Other than that the sim has no reference to this A-G datalink. It looks like R-828 is correct and R-868 is a typo. There's a long "errors in the manual thread" that probably has already caught this.

  13. Thanks :) sounds tempting, but by now i have basically everything except weathering and text layers merged down. Redoing it from ground up would take quite some time. I´ve also got another project i´m working on currently ...

  14. Rabbit, use DCSMAX to use all cores. Lower some settings like mirrors, shadows, water and you should be o.k. I have played this game on my old P4@3GHZ and 2gb ram and it was playable but your pc is much faster and with some adjusting you should get 30fps+ most of the time.

  15. The x52 has a lot of axes. 3 on the stick and another 4 (throttle itself, slider and 2 rotaries) on the throttle. Just click on the field where you're supposed to select the axis and move the axis you want to assign on your x52 from one end to the other. BS should then automatically recognize the axis.
