  8. You can CLEARLY see that once the aircraft is over-g'ed, the HUD tape is useless because the recording head comes off the tape ;) 11g's when it's what? Empty? I can maybe buy that. I also know a business jet such as this will see its fuselage fall apart at 5g's under certain circumstances (already happened!), and you can rip the tail off pretty easy without needing too many g's. Why it's happened in reality, recently, too. Your assumption that it's 'limited to 1/4 of g's before it breaks' is BS. Look at the F-15-1 and you'll see an OWS-deprived F-15 is limited to a max of 4g at MTOW, and that's symmetrical gs. The ratio is 1.3, not 4-5. You over engineer the airframe to reasonably withstand 33% more g than its 'structural design limit' so that you can actually reach that limit in most flight conditions without breaking up. 9.0g. Warning at 8.2. Do you even have the -1? And to further demonstrate what a load of hot air you're blowing, the F-15 in the longeron accident broke apart at 3g. Not 30, not 40, 3. This is already 1/3 or 1/4th of the structural design limit, so you're telling me it lost 10x more strength than it should have? Further, if it DID pull 40g's 'for a tiny fraction of a second' you would never know it, and the tape would never show it, so what are you talking about still? No eurofighter will withstand 17g for anything resembling 'long term'. In order to do this you have to pay a hell of a lot more for the materials, they MUST be heavier, and so on and so forth. It makes zero sense to give it a capability that cannot be used. 12g is an over-g limit ... the FCS limits it to 9 ;) The reasons for these things should be obvious, and for someone who claims to know about the F-15 than me, I find your knowlege in this whole aviation matter severely lacking, even compared to the little that I know.

  18. Hello Digital'man'walking'on'the'water :) Looks like you've set yourself up with some nice gear - can it get any better than that (that was a rethorical question though - no need to reply) ;) As for the other things you asked about ... 1.) Multimonitor support, I just answered thos for another bloke, here's a shortlist: Treats like: Multi-Monitors in DCS? Easy Or gems like: Dualview monitors? Oh, this one is the general forum: For those with a single widescreen who want larger ABRIS/Shkval overlays 2.) As for getting into a soft start for DCS:BS Advanced Checklist + Download And a printout of the C:\Progam Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Doc\DCS-BS_Key_Commands_Ka-50_real_eng.pdf My own strategy was quite clear when I started. Learn how it's expected to operate. Started off with "Real" right away (remember to change that nasty option in the settings where you sometimes get the "arcade" mode for some missions) Did all the Training flights. Observed and learned. Next I would "take control" of the same missions - doing it while the instructor lead the way verbally. Next I moved onto auto-startup vs manual startup (checklist and key printouts necesary). Did the WIN-HOME startup in my first few missions, to figure out what to expect - operational from startup vs the stuff that is turned off. Moved onto practicing manual startsup there after. Quick Tips for starters: 1.) CONTROL-ENTER, your friend to figuring out if your controls are way off due to trimming. The first thing you should enable. 2.) Learn what to expect from the Shkval. The correct procedure to make it stable for ground. And to prevent laser burnout with over targetting. 3.) Autopilot, or rather "damper mechanisms" - what to expect. When to trim - and how to trim. After that you should be able to enjoy countless hours and hours of flying. Good luck buddy  EDIT: (note to self - study spellchecker, dude) (Another note to self - notice where the thread is started, this is multiplayer - not general) Hm, not sure if I was abit off the scope you were looking for, mate.

  19. Hiya DJ, welcome back to the fold! :) You could add some rudder pedals (saitek , or CH) if you wanted to complete that setup, but you definately have the most important parts (trackir and a hotas). The best solution for the over-run of commands, in my opinion, is to write them down on a bit of paper... I actually ended drawing a stick figure representation of my X52, and writing on the functions with a line going to each button, lol... The easiest way to know what to map is to actually filter your commands in the options down to the contrls "INS Cyclic" and "INS Collective" , and map from there....maybe add a couple of extras like "uv26 start program" for flare dispencing. At the end of the day though, apart from the Cyclic and Collective buttons, every other control is gonna be mouse-click in cockpit. ...you sure learn how to get a stable hover quickly enough when you have to heads down and cockpit click :) There are quite a number of posts on the forum with very in depth info as to how to get the 2nd monitor working... a quick search should get you up and going

  21. If you wish to move the default head position closer to the HUD, (not zoomed in, your head position is moved forward, away from the seatback) it's possible to edit one or more of the lua files, see this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=41125 I picked up several fps as well. I wouldn't be shy about zooming, I use it all the time to zoom in on the Shkval screen, magnify those little dots into targets.

  23. HUD isn't simple transparent display, it is collimated (focused at infinity) display, which uses reflection or refraction to present data to the pilot. You won't notice the change in size of symbols in the HUD by changing position of your head (or seat), because they are focused at infinity (you can test this in real life by looking at car 500m away and moving your head back and forth 30cm - it won't look smaller or bigger to you because of this). If you want bigger HUD symbology, then zoom in (narrow field of view) and if you want crisp symbology at wide field of view, then increase the resolution your game runs at.
