  2. Yes you can, I did it myself. I am from the UK so I wanted my picture as a UK pilot, so I put it in ....\lockon\PilotLogBook\Pilots\UK Make your picture the same size as the default ones in the game - 128 x 128 pixels. Make the name of the picture the same as your pilot name, for me my pilot name is Brit_Radar_Dude so the picture was Brit_Radar_Dude.jpg Here are my standard logbook hints and tips you may find useful. Log Book Problems. To get your logbook working you should create a pilot and make sure the "default" box is ticked. Also notice that even if you checked the "default" box on your pilot his stats are only updated when you fly for that pilot´s country or when your pilots country is in the same coalition, meaning that if "your" pilot is American the stats of missions you fly for Russia for example will not be stored in "your" pilot´s log unless you make sure USA is on the same side as Russia. Some missions and campaigns you download from Lockon Community websites may have the pilot name already in, so you would need to edit it to your pilot name to make sure you get the mission stats logged to you. A couple of things...... 1) He must be alive. Once he is dead, then you might still be using his name as the pilot name, but he won't log any time. Each time he dies, you have to use notepad or a similar text editor to edit the file C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\PilotLogBook\Pilots.xml Search for your pilot name, then move a bit more along the line until you see Status= If it says 0 (zero) then your pilot is dead, change it to say 1 (one). This is a real pain in the *&% to have to do . Try to bale out when you get shot down, so you are still alive. If you can't, hit ESC and quit before you die. Having to constantly edit the Pilots.xml gets old real fast. Remember status = 0(dead), status = 1(alive and kicking). 2)You may have a problem regarding which country your pilot is from and which planes you try to fly. Overcome this by making sure that your pilots country is in a coalition of the side he is flying for. For example I have made a British pilot, but there are no flyable British aircraft in Lockon. I like to fly Su-27, so in any missions/campaigns I make myself (or D/Load from the Internet) I always edit them so that UK is in the same coalition as the Russian or Ukrainian Su-27 I want to fly. That ensures my flight gets logged. Some missions/campaigns are classified so you cannot change the details including pilot name. To declassify them so they can be edited, use password EAGLE for the stock ones that come with the Sim. Any missions or campaigns you download from Lockon Community websites may have the password in the Readme file or the mission briefing. If not, then overwrite the password by pressing CNTRL SHIFT C and putting in your own new password eg 1234, then declassify with CNTRL SHIFT D 1234, Now you can change weapon loadout, fuel load, aircraft skin, pilot name, etc, etc. Note that Lockon doesn't seem to remember that you've replaced the password, so each time you restart Lockon you'll likely have to do it again. Yes, the recording is saved as a track file. You can mess with it afterwards. Here is my standard Track editing info. Track Editing Record your track as normal and save it with some suitable name. To be super safe and to ensure you preserve the original track, copy it to another name before you start the editing process. The default location where tracks are saved is (I think) .....\lockon\missions\tracks Go into the Mission Editor, choose OPEN, then bottom right of screen you will see TYPE OF FILE, choose TRACK FILES. Navigate your folder structure to wherever you saved your track and choose your track by clicking on it, click on MAP, then (instead of pressing FLY) you choose (top left of screen) FLIGHT, VIDEO EDIT. Now you can go through the track, pressing S to pause / unpause the track whenever you want to make a change. While it is paused you can change camera views with the usual F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 etc view keys, zoom in / out, etc, F6 weapon view, F7 vehicles, F8 target view, F9 ships, F11 for airfield view - whatever you want. Shift F10 to switch labels on / off etc. If you use F2 external view, press Y twice to get rid of the status bar at the bottom of the screen before unpausing. You can use CNTRL/A to speed up the running through the replay if you have a long bit you don't wish to edit, ALT/A to slow down and SHIFT/A to return to normal speed. Be warned, occasionally changing views can change how the track replays and alter the outcome of the track ie a missile might miss when it hit previously! I think things like the use of helmet mounted sight is one of the problem areas, ditto the padlock command. Once you finish, save it with a different name to preserve your original track. Always best to delete / overwrite nothing till you are 110% sure you dont need it again ;) Sometimes a tracks views are locked, use a utility to unlock them. The original utility was called LOTU, then came LOTU v2.0, then LOME, then LOME v1.1 which is the latest version, link below... http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=82&lid=789&ttitle=Lock_On_Mission_Editor_LOME_v1.1#dldetails Hope this helps.....

  5. Hi everyone, Since I had some spare time I decided to update the A-10 weapon mod to include improvements to the Su-27 and Su-33 ground attack capability. This mod now consists of the realistic A-10A weapons mod with CBU-97s and Mk-20 Rockeyes on MERs, new 6 bomb MERs for the Su-27 and Su-33, and many new and improved weapon loads for all three aircraft built into the MEInit.xml file. The readme is below. The weapon mod file is here: http://www3.telus.net/public/shepskii/A10-Su27-33-Weapon-Mod-v11.zip Please feel free to mirror it! Cheers, Mark Readme: Lock On 1.1: Flaming Cliffs A-10A and Su-27/33 Weapon Payload Modification v1.1 This modification for Flaming Cliffs will allow the user to use the weapons and correct station loading that is closest to what the real A-10A can carry within the confines of the simulation. It will also allow the user to equip the Su-27 and Su-33 with MERs in order to increase it's capacity to carry dumb bombs. The Su-27 will have now have the air to ground payload capability of the Su-27SK. The main changes are as follows: A-10A 1. Stations 3 and 9 are the only stations that can carry the AGM-65 Maverick either as singles or in pairs on the outboard and bottom racks of TER(Triple Ejector Racks). 2. Stations 1 and 11 can carry the AIM-9 Sidewinder, ALQ-131 ECM pods, Mk-20, CBU-97, and Mk-82 iron bombs. 3. Stations 4 and 8 can carry Mk-82s and Mk-20s on TER's. 4. Stations 4 and 8 can carry LAU-61 Hydra launchers on TER's. 5. Stations 3 and 9 can carry SUU-25 illumination flares. 6. All stations can now carry single CBU-97 Cluster bombs. Mr. Wolf has released a great new skin for the CBU-97 found here: http://www.lockonskins.co.uk/index.php?page=downloads. For those with Flaming Cliffs v1.11 a new model and skin was included for the CBU-97 so this one is not required. 7. The ability to carry Mk-20 Rockeye's on TER's has been re-introduced but note that due to scaling or the TER model, the landing gear will pass through the outboard weapon. 8. Included in the MEInit.xml file are several custom payloads using the new station modifications. Su-27 and Su-33 1. Added MERs which will carry 6 250 kilo FAB and PB bombs each to the 4 fuselage and 2 inner wing stations of the Su-27 and Su-33. 2. Increased the payload options for the "Ground Attack" and "CAS" tasks for the Su-33 and the "Ground Attack" task for the Su-27. The Su-27 and Su-33 now have the capabilty to mount MERs that will hold 6 250 kilo bombs each giving the Su-27 and Su-33 the ability to employ 36 dumb bombs on the MERs alone. When the pickle button is pressed, each pair of similarly loaded MERs will release all it's 6 bombs with a few milliseconds of delay. The player will have no control over the release method with these MERs. **Note: This modification will not alter any existing custom payloads or any payloads in any existing missions or campaigns. If a custom payload, such as those provided by Eagle Dynamics, has 3 AGM-65s on TER's then they will be useable. This modification only affects using the custom payload editor. There will be duplicate playloads listed because of the ones from the MECustom file of the first version of this mod as this one only replaces the MEInit file. You can delete any duplicate custom payloads via the in game payload editor. These duplicate payloads will be listed after the ones from the MEInit file in the editor drop down window. A BIG thanks to Jens "Alpha" for importing all the new A-10A payloads into the MEInit.xml file... it was a very big job! Thanks to everyone at Check 6 for the wonderful LOMAN tool and to the fine man who provided me with the official weapon and station information. I hope the realism this modification brings will be useful and enjoyable to everyone. July 11, 2005

  6. As EB said, the team is not aware of any bugs in the autopilot's heading channel and the trim system in the release version. The patch will add more features to those elements, no need to fix anything. Well this so called "GAME" is a result of a years of hard joint international effort. I'm proud to be part of this effort and when someone steps into the scene and shouts aloud "What you've done is all wrong!" I expect to see some good argumented statements about what he (you) thinks is wrong. I'm sorry but I have to say that you failed to make any valid point of anything "wrong".

  8. Oh man! I can't believe that You wrote this! You're playing too much Falcon! But if we're at owning planes there is no other option like Russian plane eg. this An-2T in such version: In attachment You can see interior of this plane where I'd like to put as many chicks as I can and fly, fly away! PS. I leave dreams about fighter jets because I don't need this in private life! ;-)

  10. MMORPG works because of the social demographic of the players. That of flight simmers is totally different and I would be suprised if any flight sim developer who confused the two would stay in business for long. As it stands now we purchase a licence to use the software, not the software itself. That's fair enough.... But I'll be damned if I'll rent a licence and that is precisely what pay to play entails.

  11. The whole pay to play defeats the purpose of such a high fidelity simulator. If I can only fly it online, how on earth am I going to learn the intrinsic basics, let alone master the avionics of whatever I am flying. Would that then mean that I have to pay the said nominal amount for every separate part of the DCS module? Well I for one would take my money elsewhere. If I'm paying $180/yr in subscriptions (as per OP's suggested $15/m) I need to be putting in serious stick time to even make that worthwhile. And I don't. I would drop DCS in a heartbeat if I was forced to pay a monthly subscription. I'd go one step further than GG and say pay to play for a flight sim is ludicrous. While it is a business model that works in some elements, don't you think that your pockets are hit for enough when you add in the accessories you need to play high fidelity simulations? I also like motor racing sims, but I flatly refuse to pay iracing.com's $13/m (if I pay it all upfront). Purely on the fact that I don't always have the time to make it worthwhile. ruprecht: Is this about the Ashes ;)

  13. Panzertard The mesh resolution currently being tested is higher than standard Lock on, FC, BS,and Hawg11's Mesh. This is not an indication of ED changing anything in their graphic engine.comparing this Mesh and satellite textures with the old system of the lower resolution Mesh and piece textures is like comparing apples to oranges. This is a third party work Being built to push the limits and create the most realistic Nellis Range complex area possible. How and when it will be implemented will be up to ED if it is accepted

  17. Sorry for the big sized pics! so be aware on slow systems My Biggest picture to date. I made a very large panoramic picture using 9 1600 sized individual screenshots from Lock On. Then I got a huge image that only increased in detail the more you zoom in. I just wanted to test how hard it was to make a panoramic view from Lock On and it worked pretty well. The final edit doesn't look panoramic, but more like a picture taken with a wide angle lens to get the details in. But as I said the more you zoom in the more detail you get. So enough talk now.... This is an Polish Air Force Mig-29 after its overhaul some years ago. Lovely scheme and lovely aircraft.
