I don't doubt its possible, its never been proven not to be, but apparently the actual chance of the ET finding and tracking an a/c is next to zero. Does this make it wrong to do it, not really, its modeled in the game and no one complains so vehemently when the AMRAAM flys of the rails and behaves unrealistically. If you get a tone in Fio mode you can launch an ET without override (this behaves similair to override ET) but who can say thats an unrealistic action from the pilot? The only thing that seems to be unrealistic is the missile behaviour, and this is common right throughout Lockon, not just ET's. The problem is everyone hates it because its the easiest unrealistic fault to highlight. But im in the opinion of you can't cry about this and carry on regardles with 77's and 120's, all a pilot has to do is lock, launch and runaway from 20km+ and their missile is already a maddog behaving unrealistically, aquiring and reaquiring at ridiculous angles, its a total contradiction.2 points

Rikus decided that the extra time and effort to add the four letters in "mark" after the word "bench" would not be compensated by the added ease of understanding that would result from doing so.2 points

-------------------------------------- Hi all, Some of you may have missed the announcement of a new application for Black Shark called TouchPal (the main thread about it is hidden away in the English Game Controllers forum here). It's a fantastic new program by Gadroc based on my old TouchBuddy profiles, and it enables you to display this on a second screen: If you've got a touch screen monitor then you can activate all the buttons by touching them, if not then you can just click them with a mouse. All the buttons and lights are linked to the sim via lua and everything else is fully functional with the exception of the digital CMS display (which can display your current program but not the number of flares remaining) and the digital PVI-800 display (which Gadroc hasn't been able to export the data for yet). If you have a spare monitor, I encourage you to give it a go -it's a huge leap forward from my TouchBuddy profiles and it makes controlling the Black Shark a lot easier (and more fun :)). Cheers, DD P.S. If any ED guys read this, I'd be very grateful for some tips on the correct syntax for exporting the digital CMS and PVI-800 displays. If it isn't possible to extract this data atm, is there any chance you guys could add this functionality in a patch? P.P.S. If anyone would like to make a Russian version then I'd be happy to share the source graphics files.1 point

I've seen complaints from saitek and logitech owners about the FF and I've seen that even the M$ FF2 isn't responding perfectly in BS, so my first conclusion is that FF is malfunctioning in BS. From what I've read the M$ FF2 works perfectly in IL2. It could work perfectly in Falcon and LOFC aswell I just haven't read any comments about this though. I also thinks its important to know that logitechs FF is unbelievably good in driving games, I've got a Logi Formula force EX and it works brilliantly in GT Legends so I think this proves that Logitechs FF effects when programmed properly in a sim work fine. One guy here in the forum tried the G940 to steer in a driving game and he said there was no slop and that feedback worked well. EDIT just tried my G940 in GT Legends and FF works perfectly across the entire range of x motion (didn't try Y but i'm sure it'b be the same) proving that the G940 will work when supplied with the data So all this leads me to the idea that the G940 is "new school FF" and M$ FF2 is "old school FF" and that sims like Lockon and IL2 (now both ~10 years old) were written with old school FF effects in mind and so can't be expected to work well with the new gear. Also I think BS has a problem with the FF be it "old school" or "new school" and should be looked at asap, I'm maybe wrong though.1 point

Sobek, i wouldn't recommend you to buy one. Wait until ED has released a patch, if they do... Atm i actually use it with the FF power off most of the time. I can never remove the hand from the stick but the precision is amazing.1 point

Its easy. Open about:config page in your browser by typing this in your address field. Search the values with network.http.max keyword. The most affecting on this behaviour key named network.http.max-connections-per-server, reduce its value, but i don't recommend to set this lower than 4 - you will encounter noticeable slowdowns while loading usual pages with dozens of small objects.1 point

Can I have an F-22 then? ;) What about AIM-9X with helmet sight on F-15? AIM-54C? (NASA is doing it, so obviously it can be done! :D ) ... how about ASAT? ... and I'm glad that ED doesn't think like this. ;) That's one nasty slippery slope - for those of you who want 'possibilities' there is HAWX ;)1 point

Sorry for the late reply. I've been checking with other drivers with the same result. In the process i swapped my freetrack setup for a Trackir and suddenly i started experiencing strange problems in windows 7. After uninstalling drivers and reinstalling, updating sound and networkcard drivers it finally turned out to be a defective mouse causing problems to the usb root hub in the PC . After all the fiddling around with freetrack i can't seem to be able to reproduce the startup slowdowns anymore. Because of my hectic way of working i cant pinpoint what could have fixed the issue. Maybe the defective mouse flooding my USB hub with unused commands had a hand in it. I'm going to keep looking and try a driver rollback to see if i can reproduce it again.1 point

Not when your close to the ground, usually below 10ft. Now granted, he said 7-8 meters, not feet. My comment was most in jest (hence the smiley). However, There's nothing wrong with hovering auto-rotations. Part of any training and check ride.1 point

For the ones interested, the adjusted version and yes, without the red stars :D1 point

To Aeroscout : .skins files exist (and work) only with "new" .lom 3D models. Il-76 has and "old" .cmd 3D model, so no such file. The only way is to replace the texture file, as said by Mad ;) Cheers Az'1 point

Well, toward your immediate goal... perhaps just try programming the ministick in SST, and everything else in the BlackShark Options. As for the SST software causing the lag... that is some weird stuff you are experiencing. I have to think there is something else causing that problem. However, some possible suggestions: 1. Try a different version (older or newer) of the SST software. Same thing for the drivers, possibly as well. 2. Perhaps a disk cleanup and defrag is in order. 3. The registry can also be cleaned and defragged. Crudded up registries can cause weird delays in software execution. If you installed and uninstalled a lot of programs, that can really load the registry up with extra crap to wade through that isn't serving any good purpose any more. 4. Maybe go all out... Uninstall the SST and drivers, do a disk cleanup, do a registry cleanup, do a disk defrag, then do a registry defrag. Possibly repeat the defrags several times. Then reinstall SST and driver versions that you have the most confidence in. -------------------------------- If all of the above has already been performed, maybe look for a mouse-to-joystick application?1 point
