Im going back to IL2 if there will be no Su-27 released in ED series, I had enough of this Crap. Scenes I discovered my passion for sims in younger days there was only Western birds and choppers to fly, and I flu them all JANSE F-18/F-15 EF-2000 and so on.. Killing AI Mig-23 su-27 and Migs. I had to wait on till the HIND release witch was build on longbow Apache graphics. That was bright moments in my life, For the first time I could imagine to fly something Russian. Then I had to wait couple of years more to se the Flanker 1.5, 2.0. Even if the game was not flowerless I loved to fly the airplane I was waiting all my life flying F-18s F-15s. Now when I hear rumors that there is a chance that Su-27 will not even be developed at all by ED, I get the urgense to let my frustration out. This is turning in to a DCS-JANSE-GAMES, Good luck ED-JANSE, dont forget the Su-27.2 points

I have questions, that I'd like answers to. :) 1. When one has a radar lock, sometimes when bandit changes aspect I not only loose lock but the radar turns off and leaves me in EOS mode. Other times the radar looses lock but stays on. BTW, this situation will arise if the EOS doesn't pick up the lock. 2. In Situations where I loose radar lock on a notching/turning bandit, the EOS picks up the lock. And when the bandit turns head on again, sometimes I have to manually turn on the radar again, to get the radar lock. But... sometimes I don't have to to... it automatically picks up the lock again on radar. Why is this the case and why is there inconsistency?1 point

Put it this way, if it were to be exclusively DX11 hardware with no backwards compatibility most of the testers, myself included, would be screwed. Now if you mean will it work with Win XP or earlier which do not have DX10/11 software, I honestly don't know at this time and I suspect neither do the devs. But if you're still running XP, you frankly shouldn't be expecting to be able to run everything forever.1 point

A few days later, there will be a year that the Belarusian Air Force Su-27UBM lost aircraft and training pilots in the near Radom Małęczyn next to the village. The location near the highway 11/04/2010. memorial was dedicated in their memory. I made some photos of the area, where the machine exploded. The silence was very high ....1 point

To summarize, the workarounds suggested are: For the missile seeker slew issue, manifested as the missile seeker slewing in a direction other than that commanded: * use a mouse for AGM-65D seeker slew. Of course, this is completely unrealistic and will break using the mouse to change your view. * don't use zoom. Of course, this is also completely unrealistic. Real Mavericks have no such limitation. For the missile lock bug, manifested as the missile seeker refusing to lock on to air defenses and locking to terrain randomly around the selected target: * There is no work-around. This appears to be done to deliberately to increase the 'challenge' for the A-10A in patch 1.2.1 and disregards the capability of the real Maverick to discriminate and destroy *all* targets at medium range (that is, what they were designed to do). This seeker 'feature' discriminates between air defenses and all other vehicles (which can be locked at longer range). Of course, this is completely unrealistic, and was probably done for the same reason as the AIM-120 is continually hobbled in the game (yes, despite the promises, it is still not as the performance numbers state even after patch 1.2.1) rather than perform as published. I did not mean to bait, it was a result of being incensed by your responses negating the problems users were reporting - which is not what I expect from an ED tester, or any 'professional' tester for that matter. I'm just disappointed that ED just don't come out and say, "yeah we adjusted the AMRAAM and Mavericks to maintain play balance" since that is clearly what was done. Then this argument would be moot and we wouldn't be stuck about arguing whether the observed behaviour was a 'bug' or not. If it is undocumented then it is a bug in my book - document it and it is not a bug. Whether or not it is a 'bug' it is certainly not what is possible with the missile in real life (except perhaps in the most disadvantageous situations imaginable). Thanks at least for pointing out some of the information about the seeker degradation for SHORAD. Without it the situation would be even more confusing. ps. The Mk-20 is also borked in game. I have supplied ED with a Naval Institute Press (Annapolis) publication (linked below) that says the minimum safe release altitude is 250 feet AGL in level flight or 100 feet in a toss delivery (of course release for optimum dispersion pattern is much higher). Unfortunately ED ignored this information (despite asking on the fora) so we get another weapon not simulated correctly. If anyone has a publication refuting these figures I'd really like to hear about it. nb. dropping unguided weapons from 10000 feet or 8000 feet (as suggested in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=53418) is neither what the Hog is designed to do or what the pilots of the 1980s were trained for (at that time the NATO European Central Front meant you operated low or you were dead, whole systems were designed or redesigned to operate low [as I've stated before the B52 was redesigned to be low and it is the principal factor in the B1 design]). I've written a little bit about my progress with this in the other thread a while back. Currently I feel that my slow CPU is totally hampering me from using this at all. The only way to get it smooth enough in Arma II is to increase the smoothing but that introduces massive "head-lag" ;) to the movements. Also, the games framerates are reduced to such a high degree that it just isn't fun playing. We'll see how it works out with a new processor in the future. Edit: Now I've done some thorough testing in Black Shark and come up with the following settings that worked best for me: Using the 20100716-version I used "Fake TrackIR" as protocol with 2 samples smoothing (EWMA) and a neutral zone of 4. [Direction] [sensitivity] [reduction factor] (inverted) Yaw 300 65 Pitch 300 65 (Inverted) Roll 200 80 X 21 92 (Inverted) Y 21 70 Z 8 100 Still it is sluggish and induces motion sickness in me with the drowsy response, most probably because of my processor not keeping up (see signature, also my web camera is listed there). Hope this helps somebody looking for information.1 point

Well... its been said before that the Modules released will mirror the military contracts that ED/TFC have. So ... I find it unlikely that any operator of the Su-27 will have need/want a battle simulator developed for it.... my 2 cents.1 point

An example of two missile launch on a target by a Russian pilot: Пуск Первой - Pusk Pervoi - Launched First Пуск Второй - Pusk Vtoroi - Launched Second Only the order of the missile is specified. Type of the missile is solely left for the pilot to decide. After the target has been destroyed the pilot reports the amount of missiles used: Отработал двумя - Otrabotal Dvumya - Finished work with two Bomb away call: Сброс - Sbros - Drop General weapons deployment (this can be anything from A2A engagement call to Guns on a ground target): Работаю по цели - Rabotayu po tseli - Working on target There are a few variations of the above examples, I provided the most common ones. The Russian brevity is very interesting in contrast to English. One of my favorite subjects.1 point

Су-25 Если кому интересно, чем закончилась проверка возможностей Су-25(Т) против Миг-29, то выкладываю результаты здесь. Были проведены ближние воздушные бои с ракетами ближнего боя. Уровень учавствующих вирпилов: Ацкий КОТ - высокий. ААК(224) - средний. У обоих опыт полёта на истребителях с СФМ высокий, на Су-25 опыта очень мало. Первым тестировался Су-25Т против Миг-29А. Вооружение Су-25Т - 2 Р-60, 2 Р-73, минимум топлива; Миг-29А - Р-60, 2 Р-73, 90% топлива. Надо отметить, на первой лобовой Су-25Т имеет шансы сбить истребитель, но здесь исход больше зависит не от самолёта, а от мастерства пилота. В целом, при умелых действиях оба могут уйти от ракет (но у Мига всё-таки шансов побольше). Дальше противники пытаются зайти друг другу в хвост. Тут у Су-25Т шансов практически нет, он слишком перетяжелен. Следующий тест - Су-25 против Миг-29А. Вооружение Су-25 - 2 Р-60, меньше половины топлива, Ми-29А - 6 Р-60, 90% топлива. Пуски ракет на первой лобовой практичеси не практиковались, т.к. это не имело особого смысла, Р-60 имеет очень малые шансы попасть в цель. С Мига также ракет не пускали, легче работать пушкой, чем такими ракетами:). Итак, после первой лобовой начался ближний маневренный бой, и... Тут Су-25 показал всё, на что он способен!:thumbup: Грач весьма уверенно держался на вертикалях, а уж когда дело доходило до горизонтали, у МиГа шансы победить стремились к нулю. К сожалению, в виду слабости ракетного вооружения и отсутствия нормального пушечного прицела (а также навыков стрельбы с помощью прицела Грача у вирпилов) сбить Миг было весьма сложно, даже когда Грач вплотную висел у него на хвосте и был на отличных позициях для пуска ракет. Но, один раз в маневренном бою Миг разбился, пытаясь перекрутить Сухого, два раза у Мига кончалось топливо и он становился лёгкой мишенью для Грача.;) По моим впечатлениям Грач по совокупности характеристик находится "на уровне" СФМного Мига, проигрывая (но не критически) ему на вертикали, и выигрывая на горизонтали. Реализовать преимущество ему не позволяют слабые ракеты и отсутствие нормально пушечного прицела. Ещё один минус - плохой обзор из кабины, иногда потеря противника из виду была причиной проигрыша. Но в целом штурмовик произвёл положительное впечатление на обоих участников вылета.:) Думаю, если бы в локоне была реализована модификация Су-25СМ, а МиГ-29 был бы с АФМ, то шансы Грача выйграть повысились бы намного. Вывод: без учёта вооружения Су-25 действительно является хорошим самолётом в ближнем бою.:smilewink: P.S. It's already been said, but basically everyone sucks at flying helicopters at first. They're just hard to pilot in general. What they lose in complex avionics (and let's be clear, the Black Shark is pretty simple compared to most aeroplanes), they make up in sheer piloting difficulty. But that's simply the nature of the beast. You will need practice, practice, and practice. But that's the nice part about this sim: nobody is stopping you from practicing while flying actual missions and having fun. :) That's something I learned a long time ago: don't try to become a great pilot at the expense of having fun. You do NOT need to be a pilot who can do coordinated turns and fly perfect landing patterns and the likes before doing actual combat missions. There comes a point when you should just start flying campaign mission and enjoy yourself. Sure, at first you won't be perfect and struggle on landings and the likes, but you will still be having fun AND you will improve your piloting as you do so. Itkovian1 point

Try going to the file ...\LockOnFC2\Config\producer.cfg and ensure you have ForceFeedbackEnabled = false; Not sure if this effects FC2, but in FC1 I think you needed to do this for trim to work.1 point
