  1. What Do I Think? Not too much. If I wanted to fly the P-51 I would use IL-2. If I wanted a better P-51 I would buy it through A2A. I was hoping for the AH 64D. I thought it was in the works. After the total failure of Black Shark I would have thought for sure you guy would come up with something no one else has had a good sim of since Jane's Longbow. What's aft the P-51? Another WWII plane? What happened to the F-22? Come On Man!

  2. Miniature trackball for all your clickable 3D cockpit needs while right hand stays on the stick. Supplied myself from: http://www.trackballworld.com/40-320.html with two same devices. Works fantastic! Very accurate, buttons give very good feedback, it has a button for scrolling, and has high dpi.

  4. Microsoft Security Essentials. Realtime protection, not "heavy" for RAM. Cost nothing, does the job........... Good luck with your search.

  7. As has been said many times, fly it however you want to. On day 1 of flight school the "cadet" does not learn how to use the autopilot. The "cadet" learns how to fly the aircraft. I have seen many posts by rookies saying why cant we use this.... this is good. "Because we say so" does not cut it. Also I tried to provide a helpful post. Unlike you.

  8. Just for the record: you have now around 36FPS - this is a plus of 150% Who Is the Jedi ?! ;) ...would be nice if you would make a donation to Kegetys at his website: http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ SoftTH is donation-ware! :) .. and give me some +rep...

  9. Now this ain't a complaint. Just my subjective observations. I have both BS1 and BS2 installed. Just tried them with exactly same joystick config (no curvatures, no deadzone, central trimming mode on, BS2 with FFB off as BS1 doesn't have that option, same Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick). The trimming and auto-hover in BS1 vs BS2 are completely different. BS1 is almost arcadish easy compared to BS2. Trimming in BS1 feels like natural and you don't even have to think about it. On the other hand, trimming in BS2... I don't know, I can't say it's easy. Same goes for auto-hover. BS1 works like a charm and BS2 doesn't. Like I said, I'm not complaining. Maybe BS2 is more accurate simulation of trimming. But they aren't the same in BS1 and BS2. It's obvious. Something has changed dramatically (not a minor, subtle change). Be that direct change or indirect side-effect of some other change(s). At least for me that is true.

  10. to get crossfire to use a second card you have to disable a power save feature that makes the CCC think that the two cards are one (I have no idea why). its called ULPS and this page explains how to get rid of the feature, it also stops the second card disabling during the middle of play and screwing the picture http://www.overclock.net/t/667144/crossfire-disabling-ulps EDIT: it does require reg editing because ATI claim its not a broken feature, even though with it off the 2nd card now shows up working in things like CCC and system moniter

  14. And the request for an F-22 ? - right after you provide all the classified data on it's avionics, flight characteristics, etc, etc - or more likely about the time you get out of jail for providing the calssified data ...

  17. In the world of business, it doesn't matter what you did in the past, how big you became, etc. What matters is that you remain profitable today. Look at Kodak, Atari, Acclaim Entertainment, Sega, 3dfx etc. Anyway, that is a bit off topic. In the end I hope for ED to do well at what ever it decides to do, even if releases are not to my personal taste.

  19. Hey all I've been flying the A-10 for a while and enjoying that a whole lot; Picked up the TM Warthog set and a trackir5, and have been playing some multiplayer flights. I really dug in deep in DCS A-10. But I bought Black Shark when that was released, but that game was a brick wall to me. Now, being used to DCS A-10 and having more hardware to assist me, I decided to buy the BS2 upgrade and see if I didn't have better luck. Upsides: I have a much better understanding of what "standard" gauges in a cockpit mean now, and also have a better understanding of startup procedures and dependencies, so getting around the startup, which was a long arduous learning process in the A-10, has been very smooth now with that prior knowledge. But holy crap if flying this thing isn't unpleasant. So, naturally, I know that a) I'm bad at it, and b) I'm bad at it. I really want to improve, and especially after learning how to use the Shkval and HMS together (Man, if the A-10 had an HMS...). The issues I have are simple, I think; I feel like I always fight the autopilot, and I never have a good sense of the trimmer. Having to re-center the stick every time I trim exacerbates this issue; I keep wishing i had a way to trim the cyclic with a hat... So, some questions regarding the trimmer/AP :-) 1. What is the best procedure for applying the rudder from an auto-hover if I wish to laterally align with a target? Right now i'm finding it is actually easier to use the Shkval and turn-to-target than to perform this manually.. The AP always wants to return to the same angle "stored" when AH was engaged, so the procedure as I understand it is to hold the trim, rudder to the desired angle, and release the trim. This gives moderately good results, but tends to throw the trim off in some way. It feels "dirty". 3. On the topic of the rudder; Is it normal for the helicopter to want to turn laterally even with no rudder applied? I feel like the #1 reason to trim for me right now is to keep the chopper from turning to the right during level flight. Actually: I'm not CRAZY to want to use the rudder a lot, am I? 2. Is it normal to constantly feel like the nose wants to go up or down way more than I intend it to? I'm using really small cyclic movements but still I get into situations where I'm trimmed into a corner and I have to reset it or slam into a mountain, and ALWAYS when I reset the trim in such a situation, I better have the cyclic hard forward, or the chopper is going to invert backwards. If I were to sum up all my issues, it's that it feels like everything I want to do is attenuated, and everything I don't want to do is accentuated: Nose goes too far, bank doesn't go far enough. I feel like I'm in a constant argument with the helo. As a result I can't really manage anything resembling truly controlled flight. It's maddening. Any pointers on good ways to practice arguing with the AP, since that's apparently a big part of flying this thing?

  20. Wow, I mean wow, that city you have is amazing, it's better than Arma2's Chernogorsk, it reminds me of the New York City skyline.

  22. I got some better ideas for polls- let's do a "Who is your favorite ED Dev?" poll. Maybe, one of them would leak what the next aircraft is to try to make themselves more popular! Then maybe we could start a "Who is your favorite ED forum moderator?" to keep GGTharos, Viper and Ethereal from locking the the "Who is your favorite ED dev?" poll. That would actually give us an open door to start all sorts of new useless polls like: "What is your favorite color?" or "What is your favorite TV show?" or "What is your favorite torture method?"

  23. For what its worth. I've been using 2x 5770's and haven't had any issues at all for a good 6 months. I get much worse FPS when I use a single card. I always try all the new drivers (seems like there have been almost 25 of them in the past 6 months) currently I am using 12.2's which made no difference with any of the DCS titles but made a gigantic difference on Batman Arkham City (AWESOME game very highly recommended!!) I always shut off Cat A.I, which has become harder to shut off but can be done fairly easily. Here is a copy/paste from my sticky thread (in my signature) on how to disable Cat A.I: • Disable CATALYST A.I - You must follow instructions below to disable Cat A.I. The slider settings are for enabled only, they've made it harder to disable it but here is how with latest drivers: * Close down CCC.exe and MOM.exe via Taskmanager * Navigate to <username> \AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles * Open Profiles.xml with Notepad * Alt + F and search for "Catalyst" * Change Value Enable to Disable for Catalyst A.I * Save * Restart I'm not sure if it will help anyone but like I said, long ago I had nothing but problems but after applying the various tweaks I have managed to get steady stable results!
