  1. Real weather wouldn’t be mandatory. Just an option available to those that want it. Honestly, not having real world weather implemented in 2024 is kinda embarrassing.
  2. Because ED were busy implementing LSO flares instead... Yes, I'm being facetious, but the prioritising of seemingly random, irrelevant features nobody asked for, when there are mind numbingly obvious things that need to be addressed, gets frustrating.
  3. I can't remember the exact version number, but only 1 or 2 versions prior to v2.9.10.39480 worked. I saved a copy of the SuperCarrier folder from the current release before rolling back to use the Carrier Plugin UI. I've only had a brief look, but it seems launch/recovery positions and taxi routes are still viewable as previously, but I'm unable to load/view any of the new data associated with the taxi directors. Without having access to the their positions and the individual taxi segments they control, any mod that aims to change the taxi directors would be challenging. The data is definitely available to edit in the lua's, we just need a method to view it. Obviously ED have these tools, they even show as much in the updated SuperCarrier manual, (although it's not from ModelViewer2 as we know it, as there is a sea surface and horizon present). I'll definitely be keeping an eye on any ModelViewer2 updates going forward, we may get lucky.
  4. Wow. Lighting was an issue years ago, but it seems to have gone backwards, not forwards. Even for ED, I’m kinda surprised.
  5. Bumping this too!! Whilst I fly the Hornet, and the probe light helps a lot, realistically lit tankers are a must.

We are currently working on the functionality of crew tablets where you will be able to see mission briefings as well as check and change loadouts. In addition, the briefing officer can control the projected picture that is visible on the main screen and choose what to show on the auxiliary TV screen located above his head.”
  7. I’ve been away from DCS for a while, came back looking forward to some new SuperCarrier features. Just completed a CASE III, and almost flew into the island whilst following the ILS down perfectly. The landing deck lights were almost invisible till 0.1nm! Has there been a fix to this issue I’m not yet aware of, or has it been left broken for the last 2 years, since I first reported it?
  8. I've been away from DCS recently, but I've noticed a small graphic error on the Hornet IFEI that I don't remember being present. Specifically, the right engine RMP and oil pressure indications are not located correctly. Android app version 1.0.2024.0311
  9. That's exactly what were were told, many times. Unfortunately, years later, we're still waiting on anything resembling ATC improvements.
  10. This response is becoming increasingly prevalent throughout EDs comms. It’s a cop-out specifically designed to avoid being held accountable for failing to meet timelines or feature promises. Basically, as long as ED don’t say anything, they don’t have to deliver anything… (P.S. before the mods jump in, this post, and many others like it, are born out of continuing frustration with the ongoing poor comms and project management. It’s not intended as an attack on any ED individual, or the hard work they do.)
  11. Does the EMCON button work yet? That’s a significant function that shouldn’t be left out.
  12. Spawn positions, taxi routes, CATs, and even plane directors are defined in a couple lua files. These are editable if you know what you’re doing. At the moment, these files are loaded on DCS startup only. What we really need, is the ability to load these files either from within the mission editor (then we could have a drop box with different deck/CAT configs), or even better mid-mission, as this would enable switching from a launch config to a recovery configuration dynamically.
  13. If I have the time, I’ll roll back the latest update, and see if I can grab the modelviewer2.exe from the previous DCS version. Hopefully the Carrier Plugin UI works, and I can return to the current build. Whilst obviously not officially supported, having the ability to import and view the new flight director data, opens up some very interesting modding options.
  14. Honestly, I think the overall abysmal state of the AI in DCS is the “elephant in the room”. The dynamic campaign in the ‘other’ sim works because the AI works. The player can just sit on the ramp, and all the other units, ground, sea and air, go about their tasks, making logical decisions along the way. Compare that to DCS, where at times it seems nothing works. We’ve all seen AI aircraft burning fuel like it’s unlimited only to eject over the target, or low on fuel yet passing a tanker whilst diverting to an airfield 200nm away. If a dynamic campaign has to rely on the current AI, then it’ll be broken before it’s even started. With that said, there are signs that substantial, continuing improvements to the AI are becoming more of a priority for ED.
  15. Aircraft rotation, specifically bank, but possibly also in pitch, has always had a significant impact on the AG radar, and its ability to scan correctly. My understanding is that this shouldn’t be the case. ”The radar display is INS stabilized in both pitch and roll. If the aircraft climbs or dives, the antenna azimuth scan is automatically lowered or raised to maintain the same elevation angle with respect to the local horizontal plane. Similarly, when the aircraft is rolled into a bank, the antenna rotates in the opposite direction to maintain a level azimuth scan.”
  16. Are you 100% sure? The manuals I have specifically state the following for EXP1, EXP2 & EXP3: “Display blanking because of antenna gimbal limits begins to appear when the angle-off-track indication approaches 60°.” Can you please have a second look at this, as an additional 15° is not insignificant.
  17. @NineLine Bumping this request now that ED are openly adding "gameplay options" that are not 100% realistic, but enhance useability.
  18. I just updated DCS to v2.9.10.39480, which seems to have included an updated ModelViewer2.exe. After loading one of the SuperCarrier models, I then attempt to open the Carrier Plugin UI, with the intention of investigating the paths and placements of the new deck crew. Unfortunately, the Carrier Plugin UI no longer loads. When selecting it, either from the tools menu or the toolbar icon, nothing happens.
  19. Yep, beyond frustrating. I don’t have a depressible TDC, (X56 throttle) so the AG radar becomes a right pain to use.
  20. Adding “game play options”, but making them a mandatory, simply forces lower realism levels onto everyone. I thought EDs stance was to pursue realistic ops as much as possible, hence decisions such as no auto AAR, no simplified TDC slew in the F18s ground radar, etc etc. Please make this an option or remove it.
  21. Hopefully this level of INS/GPS simulation can come to the Hornet soon too.
  22. Slightly incorrect. It is actually the Maximum Elevation Figure, and dose not ensure the legally required minimum clearance above terrain/obstacles. Some companies, such as Jeppesen, add the required additional terrain clearances (1000ft for terr/obs below 5000ft, & 2000ft for terr/obs above) to the MEF figure to obtain their published MORA (Minimum Off Route Altitude) figures.
  23. I'm bumping this too. I'd love to fly pre-GPS era missions, with realistic INS drift and subsequent updating procedures. (Without the current bugs).

  25. @Gunthrek Fantastic work. Just pointing out there’s a small typo in the Block 4 link, it directs you to the Block 3 file. I the the last number needs to be changed from 5 to 6.
