Leap Motion looks promising
SinCityJet replied to Thrakazog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You just made my evening. Thank you! Apparently, I've been under a rock since switching to Nvidia Surround; SoftTH has been in my toolkit since the first LockOn, but I guess I just got lazy. Now, let's hope our favorite software author and sometimes visitor to this forum has several of these on order! -
Leap Motion looks promising

Touchbuddy/Helios/Surround support? My mind is boggling with the possibilities of combining TouchBuddy/A10-Server/Helios and TrackIR with a multi-screen experience even without the Rift, Nvidia Surround is giving me 5760*1200 views on my 3 main screens.. too bad there isn't a 64-bit version of SoftTH. As soon as I see you guys are using it, I'm gonna have to visit Amazon myself. -
 http://forums.eagle.ru/search.php?searchid=5772545 In the 8 days you've been a member here, Hans, five of your posts have been about the F-35. Glad you've found your time here fun.

Wow... this is an eye opener for those of us who have recently purchased a number of new (to us) modules.. there might be a treasure trove of skins I've not yet seen! Thanks for your effort here, and in posting all those skins over there.

Actually, it says it WILL be. Show me any kind of official authorization from Lockheed Martin. Hey, I want to believe, too. Here's what he says on his LinkedIn Gold posting.. where he says he's running a 150 million IPO for Kinney Interactive this spring:

In my opinion, the goals and timetable stated on the Kickstarter webpage are unrealistic. While I might happily be proven wrong, this project will only get funding from me when it goes on sale on DCS World. Something does not smell right... "right out of the shoot."

Download speeds are very fast right now. :) Didn't see a change log yet.

Total Combat Strike by Eagle Dynamics and Altwolf
SinCityJet replied to Namenlos Ein's topic in Chit-Chat
Will it be set in Nevada? -
DCS World uses both of the Nvidia 570 GPUs I have in SLI, using current beta drivers from Nvidia and using the DCS:BS SLI profile which can be found in the Nvidia settings. If you have two identical Nvidia cards and a motherboard which will support them, give SLI a try.

New Su-27 model coming for FC3 / DCSW.
SinCityJet replied to Eight Ball's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Is there a timetable for release? I'm sure skinners are eager to work on something other than the F-15 for a while, and I'll bet ED's eager to have people stop complaining about exterior models. Assuming the new exterior model will soon be part of the beta FC3, will this and other upgrades to flyable FC3 exterior models be part of the *final* FC3, or might they be add-ons for purchasers of the "non-beta" release? (I remember lovely screenshots of the A-10C beta over Nevada terrain helped sell the beta. So if I ask "when?" and don't get an answer from ED, I get deja vu.) -
Update after FC3 beta release: and continues with the 1.22 release. It may have even increased in severity.

APPCRASH from edCore.dll after FC3 install
SinCityJet replied to SinCityJet's topic in Bugs and Problems
Bump. No one else gets this error? Ok, I guess I fill out a "ticket". I'm still waiting for a ticket from 2010 about a FC issue, so I'm in for a long wait. So, having spent $40 against my better judgement, I'll spend time on LockOnFiles.com making uncensored, snarkish comments instead of flying a non-clickable cockpit in the F-15. -
After using the auto-updater for the latest 1.22 DCS world. Closed it. Then loaded nine year old LOMAC CD onto my PC. Flew it, (oy, the trees!) then shut it down. Installed the FC3 module, then ran DCS again. Selected FC3, entered my serial number, it authorized.. But when I try flying anything, I get this: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: dcs.exe Application Version: 1.2.2.7122 Application Timestamp: 509a4ed7 Fault Module Name: edCore.dll Fault Module Version: 1.2.2.7122 Fault Module Timestamp: 508f74fe Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00000000000435df OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 72dc Additional Information 2: 72dc9965f8ab89db36ade49177ef0986 Additional Information 3: 2b49 Additional Information 4: 2b49d1866756d4fab101a1c92cbd125f I've not seen anyone report similar problems. Running 980x/Win7Ult/8gigsRAM/512G SSDRAID0/2 570s in SLI

Yeah, but it's less than a half an hour's flight from Nellis, and is just one of the active air bases in the larger Nevada I mentioned earlier.. if you extend to the Mexican border, you also get the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. http://goo.gl/maps/RMdEG

Sweet Spot Server Machine
SinCityJet replied to Wrecking Crew's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just a suggestion, but with the price of solid state hard drives dropping like a rock, you'll be amazed what a RAID 0 array of SSDs can do to eliminate stutter and make LOD transitions instant. Dollar for dollar, it's the best hardware improvement I've made in a decade. -
Pardon me. I am just a paying customer with no inside pull with either the English-speaking controllers of this forum or the Russian coders allegedly working on this project. In contrast, some present themselves here as an official, paid/compensated-in-some-way spokesperson and tester for a commercial entity. Who exactly is "us?" I didn't doubt the existence of ongoing work on Nevada terrain, until now. How about some recent screenshots, versus the ones from months ago?
-
Yes, but perhaps had it been left in the original 3rd Party hands, some version would have been out already. There are plenty of people playing a modified version of the original Nevada map included with the A-10 beta just because they are tired of waiting for the EDGE project to be completed. Those folks just can't talk about it here. Until proven otherwise, I'll assume the Nevada map and EDGE are just as real as "economic trickle-down theory." A great idea, but I've yet to see it happen.
-
That's the 64 ruble question. There's no clue as to how big "Nevada" will be in EDGE. If all they do is give us some Red Flag airspace, Nellis AFB and a pale imitation of Las Vegas buildings and terrain, I won't be terribly surprised. As time has passed, I've adjusted my expectations of ED. What I hope for is a map large enough to go from the US/Mexican border to the south, the Rockies to the East, Reno to the North and West to the offshore islands of California. Lots of terrain and interesting scenarios; certainly more varied than a tank war for eastern Europe. If/when more fast moving jets are available in DCS, a much larger playground will be needed. If they select an expansion of currently covered terrain, pilots will be over Moscow, etc.
-
What-ever. Yanno, less than 30 minutes flight from Nellis is the Pacific Ocean. Last I recalled, the chances of a Russian or Chinese carrier in the Pacific is greater than the chances of a NATO carrier in the Black Sea. I'm just sayin.....
-
Remember that Nevada is smack-dab between the military bases and Pacific Fleet in California and incredible desert and mountain terrain in Arizona and Utah. With Red Flag facilities at the very center (and great eye candy on take-off) and huge areas of unpopulated areas between, it's really the perfect setting unless you wish only jungle, arctic or naval battles.

MSI Afterburner flashed, too.. Using yesterday's DCS update, I noticed MSI Afterburner's application (when open on the desktop showing GPU temp graphs) bled through in flashes every few seconds. By minimizing the app, I eliminated the flashing. But before I did so, I noted something. Maybe it's just me, but with a pair of 570's in SLI, both of my GPUs were getting a workout. I had heard DCS wasn't going to be able to use them both, so I'm a bit surprised.
