  1. Keep in mind, nearly every aircraft in DCS has ground traction issues with the ground being too sticky essentially.
  2. I know that, the IRST is classified so at best we could only get an F-14B/U rather then a D...thats the point. Whatever the case, ITAR and the DoD don't want that manual out into the public despite the information in it (aside from the IRST) being already declassifed...Iran makes the most sense given the age of the plane in question.
  3. Maybe you should just switch to the IR R-27 given they've since had a range rework making them more effective now. No jamming, no problem.
  4. it....might be SAS gyro decay or something similar? I know when I used to fly ages ago using the Autopilot on constantly even in dogfights it would slowly 'degrade' over time to the point of being useless and not actually holding the aircraft going straight and according to the Devs that was caused due to INS decay or something similar due to Gs put on the airframe slowly bringing the gyros out of sync.
  5. First, click the "Master Reset" button to reset the computer...for ages this used to work no problem, if the problem still persists go to the controls and bind something to "Wing Sweep Mode: Auto", hit that and that WILL fix your issue plus while there bind the wing sweep to bomb if you want, can make AAR easier sometimes.
  6. speaking of flaps jamming...anyone had people RIO for them recently?....I've noticed a weird issue where if my RIO's PC were to crash...and they needed to join back in mid flight, the flaps deploy for some reason....first time caught me by surprise and we jammed them...the next time I was at 30k feet only doing like 400knts so when it happened I managed to prevent the damage...but yeah soon as the "X has occupied the RIO seat" messaged popped the flaps dropped. really easy work around and I've only had a RIO twice recently to confirm...but yeah interesting bug
  7. The R-33 is similar to other missiles that have fallen by the wayside in ED's pursuit of accurate R-27, 77 and AMRAAM flight dynamics. For a long time the AIM-7s that weren't the MH suffered from this due to using ancient code because ED found most people played the F-18 and F-15 with AMRAAMs anyway in Multiplayer and the Viper can't load them. They have since fixed this issue and made the Sparrows a lot better but you still see such issues with other proprietary missiles such as the R-40 and R-33. I've actually tested the R-33 using a mod that allowed me to fly the Mig-31 without relying on the AI...its battery life is ridiculous at something like 250 seconds and as a result at high alts (30,000ft+) I was getting kills with the R-33 at like 130-140nmi. What makes the R-33 "balanced" is that ED's AI isn't that great either...you can see this with AI F-14 flights where most of the time they will fire their missiles at AMRAAM range even if their weapon greatly outranges it (F-14s firing off AIM-54Mk.60s at like 30-40nmi for example) and the same thing happens to the R-33...due to its battery life and drag issues it does mean its quite a deadly missile (since they've basically shotgunning you at NOE range). Tell you what though, if you manage to get a nice script, all bets are off and those guys become really deadly...very fun to face in the Tomcat tbh...I remembered a while ago there was a server that would run a cheeky script for their flights of Mig-31s to the point where they would fly ontop of each other with about 3,000ft spacing so on radar their true numbers were secret until they were almost on top of you...made a very interesting fight for a friend one day in his Viper. Ah nvm good to see they finally fixed it then.
  8. is this intended behaviour that causes issues due to how ED has the AMRAAM currently or is the Jammer also part of the problem?
  9. Uhhh....if you could send me a copy of that I'd love that... But I'll also warn you if your in possession of that document personally...me and an American friend already tried to get a copy of NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A which would be the primary document Heatblur would require for things like SparrowHawk, AIM-54 ECCM ect for a F-14B/U with explicit instructions to the Navy to remove or redact the section on the AN/AAS−42 because we believed it was still classified we and just wanted the rest of the info. Sure enough the Navy agreed and told us that was exactly the case and they only needed to remove/black out a chapter or 2....but then fun police, ITAR, stepped in last second to prevent the Navy from giving us the document on the grounds of "its declassified...but we're allowed to not give it too you because...reasons". The actual 2nd reason I didn't mention in my previous post being it seems the DoD does actually still give a crap about these documents making their way to Iran it seems. so uhhh....tread lightly with that one....then again for what how the DCS community is it boggles my mind that it was god damn War Thunder of all places to leak classified documents on their forum before DCS did....AND IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES....
  10. Oh yeah in that sense very much so. I mean thats why Hornets load the ATLFIR and Vipers load the LITENING even on CAP because they can be used for VID So in this episode, “Jungle”, mentions how the F-14 is still capable even during an INS failure, which made me wonder what the Tomcat actually needs its INS for? My only knowledge is waypoint setting and possibly LANTIRN pod/GBU use and I guess ACLS? But in terms of Air to Air my understanding is the AIM-54 doesn't require INS to employ the weapon? and neither the Sparrow or AIM-9 needs it?
  11. Considering the 1 of the 2 main reasons we can't get the F-14D in DCS is due to the AN/AAS-42 is still highly classified and is forming the basis for the F-35's IRST system and Lockheed's new Legion Targeting Pod...its significantly better then an A2A LANTIRN pod...hell its better then an ATFLIR/LITENING Pod.
  12. Yeah even tho its not historically accurate, I would recommend not using the flaps for carrier take offs as the cat will launch you almost at your flap jam speed as the thing has enough lift to take off fully loaded anyway.
  13. If you can find a copy of NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A NATOPS manual and give it to heatblur without getting arrested you can have your F-14B(U)...also technically F-14D but what is very classified is that thing's IRST system which later went on to form the basis for Lockheed martin's new Legion TGP. However to reiterate, you find a copy of NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A, you can have your F-14B(U).
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtmGCYeipas Well they teased an F-4E gunsight....which only makes sense since BilSimTek's previous work from 2013-2015 was for an F-4E Block 53 with agile eagle slats and AGM-65s, makes no sense not to use their previous work. I just hope ED goes along with what they said in an interview about 6 months back and makes multiple variants. The F-4 pics are from when BilSimTek left off but unfortunately their website has been removed from the web so finding them can be a little bit trickier.
  15. They didn't say they were going to add different nation versions but they did say that much later on they plan to try and add the ASRAAM and some UK camouflages so you can masquerade as a UK Typhoon.
  16. My understanding is the PIRATE is in its prelim tests with the Lufftwaffe to be accepted into service in the next year to few years, as in, its been given the go ahead the question is time, or more simply, a question of "when not if"....this is in part what Gero is referring to when he said he wants a "most up to date Eurofighter possible" i.e. what ever they add to the Lufftwaffe version ASSUMING he and his team get the infomation they need, he intends/wants to add it....if the Lufftwaffe gets the PIRATE then he intends to add it...if Airbus brings the EJ200 Thust vectoring engines out of their basement and decides to put it on the plane then he also intends to follow suit. My understanding is he plans to do the same for the new Captor-E AESA array they plan to be getting in about 2023-2024 or so as well but of course at the momment will start with the Captor-M Most probably this is because they intend to use the module as a training module for the 'military' version of DCS? But regardless this is what has been translated from interviews from him in both German and English... I mean hell the Lufftwaffe are only just now getting their first Meteors and we're getting those too so.
  17. Hell if we want to be that literal with it...the F-16 was designed as a light fighter for scramble attacks with IR missiles with no bombs what so ever, the F-18 was designed (when in the hands of the Navy) as a CAS and ground support aircraft and the F-15 was designed purely as the USAF's main Air superiority aircraft never to carry air to ground ordinance (tho tbf that last one was true for a while) Point is, as it should be pretty obvious, what an aircraft is designed for and how its actually employed are 2 very different things and from a design on paper to an aircraft in the sky can cause a lot of variables to change a great many things.
  18. This is what I gather was the reason and what I meant.
  19. Essentially...remember the only reason A1 exists is because they wanted to release the normal F-14A/B manual and took everything that was classifed into this new manual...it could be they couldn't be bothered or there isn't enough info to just take the IRST info out into another book and call it A2 or something but otherwise everything else in A1 baring the IRST is unclassified but due to ITAR, not available.
  20. Gero has stated this multiple times, his main goal is to bring the most up to date version of the EF2000 he possibly can while the parts themselves may change, the merger with Heatblur is purely a technical partnership. Make no mistake that TrueGrit is still steering the ship with this one.
  21. Gero has stated a few times that whatever becomes standard on the Typhoon in German service will be added in some way as long as they can get the licencing ect...things like PIRATE are already confirmed and he stated for an example that if Airbus lets them put the EJ200 TVR engines in them or the radar they will get for example they will update the module to reflect this. Unfortunately you have to dig through the GR interview with him if you want to hear him speak but some interviews in German have also suggested the same "If it gets put into Service EF2000s we will attempt to update/add it to the DCS version"
  22. Heres the full list: We start with the F-14B(U), Bs that were upgraded to D standard but don't have every bell and whistle. Changes to the B(U) include: - New Sparrowhawk HUD -Addition of GPS guidance, and such the ability to use JDAMs -PTID and DDD upgrade, The F-14 from the B to D is very much a patchwork style plane...some planes got the upgraded DDD, others got only got the TID fishbowl replaced with the PTID, some planes got the whole thing. F-14D changes include whats above as well as: - New F110 engines - The APG-70 radar, later modified and used in the F-15E as the APG-71. - Link-16 capability, some B(U) may have gotten this as well but don't quote me on it. - AN/AAS-42 IRST system which replaced the TV based TCS. - New Kasier HUD, similar to Sparrowhawk but still an improvement.
  23. From what I remember Gero saying, we'll start with Captor-M and then once the Germans get their first Captor-E systems in 2023-24 they'll try to add that into the plane.
  24. Everything in that manual aside from the IRST system which much of its tech went into Lockheed's new Legion TGP is unclassifed. They (the Navy) said they were happy to give us the manual with the IRST info (which made a decent part of the manual) was remove/redacted. This work had already been done after the month or so we waited and it was only as they were about to send it did ITAR step in. Everything else pertaining to the APG-70, MFD and SMS pages for the PTID, info on updated AIM-54s such as the ECCM, Sparrowhawk and Kaiser ect, essentially what ED/Heatblur would still require to attempt an F-14D is unclassified. It could, after all these years still be Iran as the reason they are holding them back but regardless 80% of it is unclassifed its purely just the IRST that is still currently the issue from what we've been able to find 3rd party and also from the Navy themselves.
