  1. The USN was happy to supply us the documents and the redaction was already complete but it was someone from the DoD went to the department of International Traffic in Arms Regulations and they invoked 22 USC 2751. as for the F-14B(U) the Upgrade program was a way to bring existing F-14Bs to F-14D functionality aside from the HUDs (Sparrowhawk/Kaiser) being slightly different, a lot of the same info for a B(U) was in and needed from the manual we were trying to access. In effect, the F-14B(U) doesn't have it's own manual if that makes sense.
  2. Quite frankly, I don't give a shit how the thing sounds...hell it could sound like Seth Rogan laughing for all I care, the only thing that matters to me is HB's much more accurate modelling of the true dispersion of the M61 compared to the fucking shotguns we seem to have on the F-15, 16 and 18.
  3. Gero has stated before they they plan to do a German Typhoon with PIRATE, IRIS-T, Meteor and eventually some A2G and then after this they will think about adding weapons such as the AIM-132 and RAF skins to the existing typhoon....it won't be 100% but it should be close enough (he says) that people can still enjoy the idea of a UK EF2000 to some level of fun and accuracy.
  4. Update: Ok...so we finally get an answer, the Department of the Navy was more then happy to give us the document and redact info on the IRST system...the work of which had already been done and finished however at the last minute a federal statue that prohibits them from release otherwise unclassified aerospace meterials came into effect and the request got denied, blame the ITAR. We could appeal this but 22 USC 2751 is pretty rock solid. TLDR, the documents are unclassifed...but due to this statue, the US DoD isn't letting the Navy release them anyway I would go to argue this is akin to the Russian Government not allowing any documents to be released on their aircraft if they're still in service...EVEN if the documents are well know...such as the first Mig 29s and Su-27s ect.
  5. DCS is for vehicles that were built and saw service only. Considering there isn't even enough declassified info currently for an F-14D, a ASF14 is not going to happen.
  6. If you guys looked at TrueGrit's posts over the last 12 months on this project, Gero plans to do the German typhoon first, HOWEVER. He has stated that after it nears completion they will try to add skins and weapons such as the AIM-132 ASRAAM if possible so players can enjoy the typhoon as a qausi British Typhoon as well.
  7. Its been said by HB staff that they do *want* to do an F-14D but simply lack the information to do so to their required standard.
  8. Iran in the year of 2021 is irrelevant. Iran has the best electrical engineering schools in the world as well as access to the Russian equivalent of GPS which would allow them to give their Tomcats all the same capabilities as the F-14Ds had. What the actual issue is, is some equipment that is used on the F-14D is now used as the basis for very new and classified technologies. Back in the 1990s/2000s the DoD took all the (then) classified info into a separate manual, NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A, this includes info on the newer AIM-54s, PTID display and SMS pages and general MFD pages and Hud layouts. In 2021 these are or more or less not relevant anymore however there is still 1 item that IS still officially classified which is the AN/AAS−42 Infrared Search and Track System. Why? because it has become the basis for Lockheed Martin's Legion targeting Pod. I have an American friend currently running an FOI on this particular manual with instructions to redacted whatever they like from the section on the AN/AAS−42 and make this document publicly avalible, the Department of the Navy has found the document and was meant to be finished on the 24th of June but apparently they require a bit more time (presumably due to delays in the world of COVID) and then hopfully we'll get our hands on it. Its our hope this is the last piece of the puzzle that HB requires in order to think about pursuing an F-14D however I wouldn't get your hopes too high because even if this was the case, the F-14A took about 2 years to complete and really the F-14A-GE-135 Late is just a F-14B with TF-30s (partially since the current B is using the analogue EIG panel from the F-14A anyway). For a full cockpit redesign we might not see something like a D for several years even after giving them this info IF its enough to finish the puzzle.
  9. Unless either servers or the module has the option to turn off the hook being able to catch the wires without proper communications, because I typically never bother with that as I just use SRS if I really need to tell people on the deck that I'm landing. Because it wasn't catching it even with me going out of my way to get a 'perfect' landing by my standards
  10. Has anyone else found this to be the case? Not that I'm complaining that much if this is how the jet actually was but I had a multiplayer game where I tried to land at least 10 times on supercarrier with only perhaps 2000Ib of fuel, 2 sparrows and 2 sidewinders on the plane and my guess is that the thing was simply too light to catch the hook. I was wondering if there is a "sweet" spot for fuel on board to make landing easier?
  11. Also keep in mind ACLS has been unrealistically "buffed" as in real life it was so unreliable that pilots almost never used it and by extension would mean there would be very little reason to model such a system.
  12. TL:DR Heatblur has higher standards then ED or RAZBAM, what might be ok for those companies isn't ok for Heatblur, plus some critical info such as MFD pages and such are not available at the moment to make it possible to make an F-14D
  13. You could try Voice Attack, its not quite hotkeys but with a simple phrase you can make get options chosen in less then a second
  14. Well the document has been found in the archive and is currently being evaluated with exact instructions to remove or redact information AN/AAS−42 Infrared Search and Track System. That being the last remaining bit of tech that isn't actually declassified because it became the legion pod. Its just when NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1 was released that stuff was secret so they created the A document.
  15. So like, hypothetically, if someone would be able to get some of the documents using an FOI, would you see Heatblur act on them in the coming years? speficially something like NAVAIR 01−F14AAD−1A which has most of the extra stuff you'd need aside from the IRST since parts of it is used in the Leigon Pod and F-35 IRST and such expect it to be redacted.
  16. ED has compiled the Weapon Lua. files which has made them harder to access, this has broken a lot of new/modified weapons added to the game by modders, I would suggest try flying it with pre existing weapons (R550s and AIM-120s if possible) if that doesn't work then this mod may be broken from 2.7 until the creator can fix it.
  17. I would assume the TF-30s may have a greater boost from the ramjet effect then the F110s did which would result in the better thrust above mach.
  18. It depends if the Mig-31 has a Russian queivilent to TWS and if that works for the AI in DCS. Like the F-14 if the Mig 31 can use TWS the target should not get a RWR missile launch warning until the missile goes active. In this situation the only thing on the RWR should be "hey there is a Mig 31 over there" HOWEVER, if the Mig 31 must lock the target with STT equivalent to guide its missile to the target till it goes active then yes, it will give you a RWR missile warning at launch. Considering its been said the radar can track up to it can track up to 10 targets and simultaneously attack four of them with its Vympel R-33 missiles its my assumption that it uses a TWS like system. The issue is there is no guarantee its how it works within DCS and it's AI.
  19. This isn't quite about the Typhoon but I thought given Gero Finke was a Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom pilot before being a Typhoon pilot he, anyone he knows, or anyone else in this forum might be able to help me with this. I thought if anyone can put the pieces together people on this forum could. I don't know if I've just been looking in the wrong places but its almost impossible to find reliable information on the European produced AIM-9B FGW.2 (AIM-9F) despite nearly 15,000 being produced. I understand F-4Fs using these missiles might possibly be a bit before Gero's time since they changed to AIM-9Ls in the early 1980s but anything will help. What I require is a list of the changes if possible made to the missile aside from just the already known things such as a new seeker dome, CO2 cooling ect. I also would like a detailed comparison of how this missile compares to others. Mainly the AIM-9B, AIM-9E and AIM-9J in US Service as I've found conflicting info varying between saying it was like an AIM-9B with better IRCM against natural false IR such as the Sun or ground heat to the missile being somewhere between an AIM-9E and AIM-9J in performance and PK and any available data on its max G rating, seeker IRCM, tracking rate ect. Sources are preferred if at all possible but not required.
  20. >Can we know how put in or change voice files for Jester Mama? >So to add a profanity filter? >Yes Mama >Actually download Angry RIO.MP3 like a boss Oh yeah its big brain time.
  21. So, as I've been saying. A-6 is next on the list for Heatblur, its now official. So you'll have to wait for an ED F-4 Phantom.
  22. From what I know of DCS history, the AIM-7 is one of those weapons ED kind of left to the way side during the early days when the AIM-120 could barely get kills at 20nmi. They focused on the 120s as that was what most people used. Even in the F-14 the main missile in PVP (where this would've been the biggest issue) was the AIM-54. So the AIM-7 has kinda been forgotten about. The newer missiles that were added later have the better aerodynamic data, code and battery life though, (such as the AIM-7MH) and soon to be added AIM-7P but in terms of legacy sparrows of the AIM-7F/M they're more unreliable then they otherwise should be. Last I checked the AIM-7M in an aircraft that doesn't have MFD that you can switch them into loft mode manually (Like the Hornet) the AIM-7M will only loft if you pitch your aircraft above 30 degrees where as the MH being the specialised Marine variant will loft according to distance from target. Rule of thumb in the Tomcat is don't fire them until about 15nmi, also make sure your in P-STT because while it does have less range and slightly easier to loose lock I've found 8-9/10 when Jester switches from PD-STT to P-STT he looses lock and trashes your missile. Hopefully this helps and hopefully when ED gets to making the F-4 or any other aircraft that realise on the AIM-7 Sparrow as its main BVR missile they'll go back to the earlier missiles and fix them.
  23. Technically they said the F-16 *might* roll over to Q1 2021...but they did say they wanted the others out of EA by end of 2020...and I don't see the Viper being out of EA by Q1 2021
  24. According to Iranian sources they did fire the HAWK missile twice in combat situations. But there isn't much details on how successful it went assuming of course you take the Iranians at their word. As for the Russian weapons they have not seen service.
  25. I mean what you could do if your ok with the images being in FLIR is use the LANTIRN pod as a TARPS stand in?
