As long as we are on the subject. What is the needed upload speed for a 20 player server? If a local isp has the speed, why bother sending it to a server farm when it can be in your home?

I have this saved from another post. I dont remeber where but I heard it fits very well. Also its not a touch screen. But they sell ones that are. Also they are on sale this weekend. http://www.mimomonitors.com/products/iMo I dont think you are going to find a screen out there that wont have any overlap. I know you can confiure them to display a smaller view than the full screen. Allowing you to tape off the rest of the screen or hide it behind your paneling. I have way too many questions on how to get it to display using an USB plug. The configuration ect ect. This is a subject I would love too see more information on. Im a long way from puting lcds in my MFDs. But its not out of the question down the road.

What are you planning Iraqi?
-
Which way?

I pulled out the manual for them. No is the short anserwer. Long anserwer. If the MFDs were Programable. Then it would be a matter of Binding the same key that inflight turns on/off lights the the MFD's. But as far as I can tell there is no way to change brightness than the 2 ways listed in the manual. "Adjusting the backlighting Intensity All buttons' and identification LEDs backlighing can be software-adjusted or hardware-adjusted. ADJUSTING THE BACKLIGHTING FEATURE USING THE SOFTWARE - In the Thrustmaster Control Panel, Select the Backlit / LED Intensity tab. ADJUSTING THE BACLIGHTING FEATURE USING HARDWARE (To adjust backlighting when playing) -Simultaneously press buttons 14 + 15 + 25 to increase backlighting intensity -Simultaneously press buttons 14 + 15 + 26 to increase reduce backlighting intensity" That is the whole subject word for word in the book that comes with them. Also it does say Increase reduce backlighting in the manual. I thought the grammer error was funny. Maybe if the MFDs came with more powerfull software then this would be possible. But they do not work with Foxy. I hope some modders can work around this.

I found myself with a few hours this morning. So I ripped open my old Gamepad and got the leeds made up. I can get 10 funtions out of it. More importantly, I can put On/off switches on it without much difficulty. Also shown are a bag of Momentary (on) off (on) switches. I know I will be getting use out of them.

On your last picture lower right. What is the name of that keypad? I could use one.

I started my insanity this weekend, YAY. I did not finish. But heres a story of the start of it. WIP I got a load of wood from my work for 20$ Nothing like an old farm truck hauling some wood. I started by ripping a bunch of the wood down to 1x1 boards. I just find that it was an easy size to work with. I picked up a bucket seat out of a Dodge caravan for 20$ from a coworker. Built a left and right console for it. Gave it a top. And build a front end. I did not like how the front turned out. I might build it again. No shortage of supplies. I put a base coat on the left/right consoles. Thats all the farther I got this weekend. Ill get back to it again during the 4th holiday. More skins to cut out and a complete paint job. I dont want to show the skeleton from any angel when its complete. Sorry for the fuzzy photos. I was using my cell phone. Ill get some better ones when its not all naked and half dressed. Cost Wood 2x3s 20$ Plywood Sheet 4x8 21$ Car seat 20$ Hardware cost 15$ Total 76$ not a bad start. Links didn't take. Will fix.

Lol. Word... other way around. I can see it now. ATC sees a single seat A10 hijacked. SHOOT IT DOWN! It stopped talking to us. I think it should be known that I post on the forums off my phone. I make a lot of errors this way.

I wonder if the game will treat you special with 7500 radio failure. 7600 hijacked. 7700 shit hit the fan. Emergency...

You can build in my shop. 3 phase, 1 440v source. 4 hookups for 220 welders. I dont think you can draw that dead. Ill forgive your powerbill as long as it stays here. -
Very very cool. +1 for that.

I can get you them for 30 dollars each. Not much cheaper then grainger. You have a few options. http://www.pexsupply.com/White-Rodgers-120-105711-Solenoid-w-Continuous-Duty-16-Ohms-Coil-Resistance-12-VDC-Isolated-Coil 17 dollars is better than anything I can come close to. Is the cheapest of that type I found on a brief search in Google. Type. Selenoid white-rodgers And you will find alot more from the same brand. My company uses them for hydraulics on heavy equipment. They are fairly tough and used in industrial equipment. -
Part of me is really confused by your statement that the DCS.exe is using 4Gb of ram. Is DSC running native in a 64bit environment? or does it have a *32 by it in the task screen? If it is just a 32 bit program running in a 64bit environment, it wouldn't be able to exceed 2GB. If anyone can clear this up for me I would be grateful. I know alot of games that ran into this issue a few years ago. You turned up the graphic so high and loaded so many textures that the game would crash from running head first into the 32bit wall.

I was ay the local airport with my cousin. Cloudy, sorta crappy November day. He was taking me up for my first long flight in his Cirrus SR20. There was no icing airmet out be decide to fill the de icing fluid for the the wings. A new lady working for the fbo asked me how much to charge for fuel. I responded with I didn't add fuel I put in.... my cousin interrupted me with, We put weather seeding in. I did everything to keep a straight face and a mechanic busted out laughing and went to the hanger. Weather seeding she asked? Cousin said. Yep. We plan to make it snow here today. Looks at me. Really? Oh yes. You should go home early tonight. We are going to make it storm. She gave us a crazy look. You guys have a good flight. We took our trip south and 6 inches of snow fell on the airport over the next 2 days. We returned on the 3rd day. She was working and came out to greet us. Don't you ever start a storm like that again. It's just wrong! I was stuck 3 hours because of you! She knows better now. But for the 1st month she worked there, she refused to dispatch my airplane. It's still a funny joke at the airport. She still calls me the weatherman.

This is a very rough concept for an ADI for the a10. I have not gone into deep thought on programing, or anything electrical. Purely a mechanical approach to the problems. https://doc-0c-84-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/secure/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/su6vnj2rhfb3vh3siirjp76g8tr79g0h/1277186400000/16790293838767086549/*/0B0Xmrov9PaCwN2QxNGNjMTUtZWMyZi00NjUyLTlhZWEtMmEwMTgxMTRkNWI4 A little turning action. https://doc-14-84-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/secure/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/765789kushhpk9me8d6t7j36tt4sdi1b/1277186400000/16790293838767086549/*/0B0Xmrov9PaCwMTdkNTYyN2QtNzAyNS00MDI0LWFhMDgtNGYxMDIwZjNhYWE0 As you can see in the next photo is it 2 axis around a tennis ball. https://doc-14-84-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/secure/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/j04qq91mrmll66tes8181p0b079cac72/1277186400000/16790293838767086549/*/0B0Xmrov9PaCwOTM5YTQ2ZWEtZWNlNi00Y2EzLTgwZTEtNTUwOTJmZDc0YjEx https://doc-0g-84-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/secure/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/vk9tbt7np44holuk59he80oqil0ofuab/1277186400000/16790293838767086549/*/0B0Xmrov9PaCwYzY2MTQ0NDUtYjFkNi00YjYzLThlMGEtNTIzNThjZTZiM2Ri I figure if I put a step motor on, or in the tennis ball so It would rotate up and down. Then rotate the whole setup clockwise, counter-clockwise on the other axis. Using a headphone type jack. i can get it to rotate in the back continuously without having to worry about the wires becoming tangled. https://doc-0g-84-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/secure/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/p81sff35lpmgd79rnlngh4u0vsq00ni9/1277186400000/16790293838767086549/*/0B0Xmrov9PaCwY2I5M2FmNjEtZDA2NS00MmY4LTliNGItNjk3MmRlNWM3OWUw My major concern at the moment is that I would have to find a headphone jack with 4 contacts. As I believe that the step motor will have to be able to be smart enough to return to center after I get shot down. I am eager to hear anyone's input on this subject. If I was to try this all the way I was thinking a Pool Que Ball would work very nicely painted up. A gimbal setup in place of the soda bottle top would be setup very similar to a pto yoke. I would most likely attempt to mod one to work. As for electrics. Ill Figure that out when I can make this top go. For now. Input or ideas on how to solve the home made ADI would be a fun read. Its not an easy problem and I would like to see others solutions.

I'm starting my pit this weekend. I don't have any drawings. But I do have a mock setup in all cardboard. All my friends think I have gone a little crazy. I'll post a thread when I start.

We no longer use them for production. I can still get some from the obsolete area. But is it something that would be useable? I don't work for grainger. But my company orders a lot of parts from them. Why do you need a selenoid? Won't a switch or relay work? -

I think im sitting on about 3k Selenoids at work right now. Ill take a look at the specs and post them for you later. Best part is that i can get them for next to nothing. Work figures they might as well charge its employees next to nothing, or they will just take it. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/6C017 I think this it it. -
The noise off the compressor can go away with a little piping in your house. It doesn't make noise if it is out of your room. Right? What are the specs on your pistons? What is there loading, required psi, and travel length? I'm starting a pit next weekend but I'm afraid I will be too heavy to consider anything like this in future plans.

Your saying you were flying a ka50 and then boom? Killed by building? If that is the case then you were more then likelyshot down. I don't have DCS blackshark. So I have to base everything off what I have seen flying A10s and F15s.
-
True. I I fly into a building it will kill myself or anyone else. I have watched an AIM 9 hit a blackshark and the server says "building kills blackshark". I think its a bug. I don't have any proof other then what I have seen. Has any other fighters seen this?
-
Building is another player. A2A kills on blacksharks don't seem to give any credit to the fighter that shot it down. So if you are on Tue 104th server and a building shoots you down. It was a fighter.

This is what the other side of this engagement looked like from my point of view (F-15). Please note that I am a very new pilot that is still learning how to play. 3 of us took off out of Mineral. An SU27 and 2 F15s. We made our way to the ground pounders with the intention to get some of them to switch into fighters. The turkey hunt was on. We started low until about the last 60 miles and made a slow climb to FL250. We picked up 4 contacts on radar. 3 of them showing alt of 0 on the TWS. Our 27 pilot got contact on what he thought was the blue AWACS. He decided to go for it. The other 15 and myself leveled at FL20 and each fired AIM120s on the Ka50s 20NM out. They show up on radar very well. I dropped down to FL050 the other 15 stayed high. I had my radar slewed to about a low as I could. Narrow Focus, 10nm, and only searching the 0-5k feet. I had lock on a Ka50 at "Tank Hill" 5 miles out I let a 120 go on it. It went ballistic on its last mile. I never lost radar lock but I was probably to close when I launched and too fast. I don't really know, I am still new at this. I then switch to guns manual and dove on the ka50. I didnt have enough room to make the get a good angle so I pulled out and headed to the "river by tank hill". Our Su27 Reported that he shot down the Tanker. He then decieced that he was going to head back to us to assist with hunting KA50s. I then saw what looked to be Flares. (I guess it was an AIM9) Then at my 11o clock, an A10 in a steep right hand turn and I am on its 5 o' clock. I am still not very good with switching weapons in flight so I went full AB and charged in gave a guess and fired some cannon rounds a mile in front of him. Not even close. I shot by his tail and made a hard left and tried to regain a visual. I had my cannon radar on this pass and found an A10 flying in a straight line level. In about the exact spot I made my 1st pass. I took my time and gunned him down. Thinking that the A10 was destroyed, I went back to "tank hill" to reengage the blackshark. I switched to AIM9 and had radar on to help guide me into it when I saw an a10 over tank hill in a steep left hand turn. From my point of view I thought the A10 was trying to get a lock with an AIM9. I turned my radar off and fired. The Aim 9 hit him moments before he was able to complete his turn on me. Richard III ? My kingdom for a horse? (kingdom for a gun radar to calculate lead) I don't understand this. I was then fired on from behind. Missle warning going off I dove low over tank hill and made for the coast. It missed, (I dont know how) I turned back into the bandit. With help from the other 15. I turned the radar on and pointed it to FL15 and had a lock at 15ish miles. I fired my last 120c from the deck and turned back inland to a neutral airport. ( 800 Pounds fuel) On my way in I got lock with my remaining Aim 9 and downed a KA50. A little further on I saw a second KA 50 with its lights on and made a fast attempt to gun it down. I didnt have enough time and my shots all went over it. I buzzed it with less then 20 feet between us at 500 knots. The Blackshark managed a few hits with its cannon after my flyby. I was impressed but he didn't damage anything. I made a landing at the local airport and that was it. I can agree with this 100%. I had a f15 doing support at 20k feet. I wasn't looking for fighters. He was. 50s are harder to hit then I was expecting. (They are still the easiest target I have shot on yet.) But in order to get a clear lock you have to join them are there level. You are extremely vulnerable to enemy fighters yourself then. One fighter is enough to hold up a group of attackers. Advice to Blacksharks from my run. Most of the KA50s I saw hit had one major thing in common. They all had there lights on. 150+ meters is easy to spot on radar. Stay under 400 agl Hide in a city. If you cannot be found, you cannot be killed. Brown hayfield do not hide your profile from above. If you want to hide, Look for something dark below you to hide above. I makes you much harder to spot. Any level of support will increase your chances of not being shot down. To the post about how buildings have no effect on Radar. This is true, However if the missile cannot pass threw the building to get to the ka50 on the other side. It works better then chaff. Okay, sorry for the wall of battle I posted here. Again, I am new at this. So all of my information can be taking with a grain of salt.
