I would guess to avoid the hassle. Also a decent Sata pci card will cost you $35+. A new MoBo 50-90$. Its half the price but more then double the trouble shooting.

I used a logitech 3d pro for a long time until I went to a hotas cougar. I have nothing to complain about it and it cheap. I recommend you upgrade to a full hotas when you budget allows it. Do you want this for blackshark or FC2?

Why does my FC2 jet roll into the ground on take off???
Krebs20 replied to Steel Jaw's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I 1st learned to flying in a beat to hell Cessna 152. My instructor was 6'2". Before Takeoff Check 1. Parking Brake--SET 2. Cabin Doors-- CLOSED and LATCHED. 3. Flight Controls-- FREE and ( Jessie move your damn knees! ) CORRECT. HAHA the memories. I fly Sims not to sim but to do things I would never try in a Cessna. Back to topic. The old Joystick had to go threw a cycle of all its free movements before it would work correctly. This was always the 1st flight when I loaded the sim. Its just a habit now to run the controls threw once during the start up. I hope this helps. -
90$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131232 This should be pretty much plug and play if your using Windows Vista/7. 60$ If you only use one PCIe 2.0 slot and 2 DIMM slots, then you may want to consider and Micro ATX board. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131399 Again plug and play. Remeber this only has 2 ram slots. 8gb max(2x4) If your willing to look elsewhere than ASUS. I have 2 friends whose 775 EVGA board board died. One about 3 months ago. The other a year ago. They both had hard drive issues. My neighbor has a 775 board for about 3 years running as a media server with two 1TB drives. It sits in a hot closet behind his TV with a pile of clothes on it. I'm positive he bought the cheapest POS motherboard he could find. I don't know what brand it is. So the 775 chipset is not in question in my mind. Good luck finding a Mobo. PS. If you consider one of the Mobo is listed. Search the web for a better deal. I used Newegg as a reference. Maybe you can find a better deal.

My old joy stick had the same problem. During the run up I had to push the throttle Back forth, rudder side to side, and a few full circles with the flightstick. It was as if I had to do a full calibration to my stick. Before takeoff I used to idle up to the runway and go full throttle. Halfway down I would notice power at 90%. I would chop the throttle to 0 then 100 and it went to 100% power. I was using a logictec 3d pro. I think. -
Just to confirm. Your old motherboard uses DDR2? I almost posted some boards using DDR3. Also. Is this just for a quick fix? Or do you plan to keep the computer around for other use? Asus rocks. I've used them for years. But I feel like I pay an extra 10% for the reliability. If you want something to just get by for cheap it would open up options.

What about not tabbing out? I have it on FC2 and i was tabbing in and out. On second thought. Maybe I installed it wrong....

Mobile or Desktop Core I7 for DTR Laptop?
Krebs20 replied to Tangolima600's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Desktop. Im at work now. I'll post a reason when I get home. If I remember. -
Last I heard the cessna caravan launched a maverick. Then you can give tours of the afgain base you destroyed.

Thanks for the update. Is it possible then in theory to build a mission with too much information, too many triggers, tanks, AI planes and battles, for a 32bit install to run. Bust someone without the memory restraints, can run.
-
I know the information may not be available. Will a server running native in 64bit, running a mission map in multiplayer be able to have 32bit players connect to it? Will the server have too much information running for players with 32bit installs to run correctly? Personally I think its great that DCS OS moving into the 64 bit world. Just hope it doesn't get too many left behind.

Do you have Trackir or another program using the key? When I got trackir I lost my F5, F7, and F12 keys. I changed them and it works now. Just a thought.

Can we be told what revision we should be expecting?

So my gaming pc quit working for good the other night. It starting crashing over and over again till it stopped posting BIOS. I was using 2 AMD FX-74 @ 3Ghz on a Asus L1N64 mobo. 4gigs of ocz DDR2. 800 watt ultra PSU. BFG GTX285 graphics and 2 rapter drives in raid 0. I plan to reuse the graphic card, HHD, and PSU. Now for the hard choices. What mobo/CPU combo do you see hitting 4Ghz with the most stablity. Preferred air cooling over water. Prefer 4 cores over 2 as I will ne using this for other games. Budget is 600 US. Coming in under budget is a huge plus. Both the unlocked Intel chips i5 and i7 875k are favored. I do have major concerns with the 1156 socket. I'll fill that in later. Please show me your overclocks!

Will we be able to fly the A10 on both sides of a multiplayer campaign? Something in me wants to see an 8 flight dogfight with no IFF.
-
I want to start a thread about the exploits of real hog pilots. This article made me wish DCS A-10 was out. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2008/07/httpwwwmoodyafm/ Anyone with good online articles about A10 pilots, please post them.

Non push button interfacing

Pause method? I assume you mean you can set all the switches from pause so they line up? Clever. -
I would worry about mods with steam. My past experience with steam is that mods have to be installed manually. The steam directory causes some small issues. Anyone know if modman works with the steam install? I still have nightmares moding my silent hunter 4 install from steam.

It never hurts just to ask. Demanding is wrong, but we can always ask. It never hurts to be told no. Anyways, I have been there and lived on the base with freinds for a week or so. And some NAFB pics. Thunderbirds hanger. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Xmrov9PaCwNmZmYWZkMGQtZDdmZS00ZjIxLTlhZjktYmYxMmI3YmUwMGE5&sort=name&layout=list&num=50 One of the outside parking ramps. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Xmrov9PaCwZDlhZDY0YzMtZTAzMi00ODYzLWJiNmYtNmEyYzY0Mzc5YjQ2&sort=name&layout=list&num=50 That tank got owned! https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Xmrov9PaCwNmEzOTZlYTItZTAzZS00N2FlLTliMTMtODc5NTc2MGMyZDhj&sort=name&layout=list&num=50 Trophy from Iraq? https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Xmrov9PaCwZjA2NjliZmQtNzhkNC00NmUxLWFjNDEtZDQwZGI4MDgyNGE2&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

NAFB is the home of the USAF Thunderbirds. The navy has the slightly better known blue angels. The air force has the T-birds. I have a picture of the hanger I will upload when I get home. It wild be a cool edition to the base.

My friend didnt laugh at the paint. So now I will give it some teeth. :shifty: Ill update soon. Its almost ready to be brought in the house for some flight test. I came the conclusion that I would prolly build the whole thing over again and make a drawing 1st. Or at least some sort of formal plans. But its version 1. Ill worry about my next one when I have a bigger room to put it in. This one can fit threw a 30 inch door and make it up 3 flights of stairs. If I build another one its going in the basement. When I finish the basement.

It took me about 20mins to figure out where a switch went in your pics. Im not the greatest is tech skills. After messing with my damn pro pedals, I'm convinced that I should stick with what I know. That is ripping things apart I know work in the 1st place. Then making them do what i want them to do. My pedals are still a disaster. I looked for about 6 hours in town for a place that had a DB15 cable for sale. No luck. On my way home I stopped at a friends house. He had an old Logitec Wingman joystick. He gave it to me and I went to work with it. I have the pedals recognize by the Cougar control panel. But they do not move any of the axes. I was too confident in my work and I put all my screws back in the pedals. I'm going to bed now. Ill tear it open again tomorrow. BTW I decided to pain the outside of the cockpit Camouflage. Here's a pic. I think it looks pretty good. But the real judge will be tomorrow. If my friend laughs at it, It will be flat army green in about 20 mins. Its almost ready to bring indoors. Then I can really start the wiring part. I cannot get this photo to load. heres the link to it. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B0Xmrov9PaCwY2RjYzcwNzUtOGNhMS00NGY4LTg1MWQtODUxNTYxYzYxNDNm&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

I was bringing my controls to the shed to work on them when disaster stuck. My CH pro peddles were sitting on the bench and I bumped them off. In order to "save" them, I grabbed the cable just before it hit the ground. I ripped the cable clean out along with the little switch. I thought hey this isn't so bad. I can mod them to get the toe brakes to work. " it was the older db15 style" Turns out the CH makers decided to only run the wires needed in the cable and you cannot complete the mod, See picture. Anyone have a DB15 Cable for sale? There some on the web for 4 dollars. I might use this as a reason to buy new peddles, but i want to spend money on things that are of need. Not to replace something that can be fixed. Delays. Delays.

Looking better all the time man. Have you found out why your FPS drops when moving your inputs to the 2nd card? Also are you running both cards SLI? or separate.

More button! I am honestly afraid of the complex rigs people making. I have a decent knowledge of how they work. However that just puts them out of my reach in terms of technical skill. I'm just taking baby steps. But if know some easy stuff to hack apart. I'm game. Note I have a very special use for a keyboard later on.
