  1. Happy Christmas Heatblur, I hope your whole team and their families have a lovely Christmas and New Year and thanks for everything you all do!
  2. Hi Reflected, if it doesn't ruin the missions any is there anyway to get the knee boards seperate like in the Pdf docs? Or at least the radio freqs? Would make it a little easier to reference. 4 missions in so far and loving it! The ai have done a few bizarre things bit not enough to detract from the feeling of it. You have knocked it out of the park already!
  3. Is it just me or has the ai been dramatically improved? The last couple of nights I've found that all of a sudden the quick mission dogfights have become much harder. The AI seem to anticipate more and change their gameplan based on what I do. They still seem to fly perfect to the point where an F5 seems to repeatedly outclimb the F14 as their energy management appears much better. At first I thought something had happened to the F14 model but looking back through Tacview it definitely seems to be a revised ai. Thanks!!!! I mean its going to make it much harder to get a kill but it should improve my flying longterm just wished now they occasionally made a mistake.
  4. Right so...... I love this campaign! I've gone through it entirely 4 times now and have played individual missions countless times. Recently (since the most recent update) I gave the teaser quick mission yet another blat as I wanted a quick couple of minutes scrap but here's the thing.... The AI F5 seemed to fly very differently differently and whenever I was getting close to a solution he just seemed to go vertical and too the moon. If I try to follow I run out of umph long before I get close. I don't remember this? I admit it's been a month or so since last I did this but the tiger seems to have got much harder to beat. Is this just me? Am I imagining it or had the F5 got alot more thrust recently? Someone please let me know. Am I going crazy or am I just out of practice? Ta
  5. New one tonight! Too slow man! No wonder I keep ejecting!
  6. Thanks both but my issue with the A is the delay in the energy delivery so I end up chasing it. The B I am confident in but I think I need to be more proactive in the A rather than reactive which is where calls would assist. Like you say, easier said than done.
  7. Hi all, I have a confession. I'm one of the strange ones.... I love the A model over the B. For BFM, air to ground or orbiting I find the A easier and more precise. I don't bleed my energy as easily and I can generally get it to do what I want except one small minor area..... Getting back onto the boat is a b!tch in comparison to the B! The B I can do case 1s fairly consistently and get either 3 or 4 wires but case 1 in the A and I'm all over the place, invariably end up too quick out of the final turn, float high. Counter too much, get slow, fall through glide slope and then wave off trying to miss hitting the back of the boat! It's not pretty! So here is the thing. Jester providing speed call outs in BFM has drastically improved my energy management and flying. Could he do the same again in the final stage of a case 1? The others recovery situations are fine as I have longer to get speed and glideslope sorted but some speed calls for that final leg might just save my bacon! The occasional 130, 140 would really help and stop Jester complaining when he really has to go! Ta.
  8. thanks all. Really helpful.
  9. I know the details are in the manual but I'm just wondering before I create one myself if anyone has made an F14 trap weight chart with all the relevant info to hand? I have similar for the A10C for things like nine lines etc and so just wondered. My idea is a simple side of A4 with the relevant weights. Maybe a second side showing the most frequent set ups (2-2-2 etc). So it can either be laminated so I can calculate and rub out on the fly, or as an excel where you enter the set up and it spits out the weight. I know the supercarrier doesn't care about max trap weight and it would be low on my priorities for inclusion as the majority of players would hate it. That said it's a small piece of immersion for me that adds alot. Plus who knows, it might even improve my recoveries
  10. Thanks that's useful to know. It's only the tomcat, nothing else but guessing it must be something my end then.
  11. Since the new update earlier today I'm finding when I load up I'm loaded fully zoomed in. It's not a huge issue as I can zoom back to normal but just wanted to flag.
  12. Genius. I can't be upset with a reply like that.
  13. How about now?
  14. Brilliant thanks both. It's nice to know from a general interest perspective even if it isn't modelled in the game.
  15. Osprey books do a facsimile of the original manual and later variants to 1945 but I'm afraid I've only seen it in paper format
  16. Hi all, I wonder if someone could assist. Out of the five navigation modes in the front seat for the TID I have noticed that I never use the Vector mode and that I don't understand what it's for. Given how deliberate Grumman are in their design is I'm sure I'm missing a 'major' mode. The DCS manual gives a single sentence that says it allows for a bearing to be taken of a data link source. So my question is what is the mode for and when would you use it? The only thing I could think off was if you could use it to help work out an intercept from a BRA call relative to Bulls (assuming this is somehow tagged as a beacon in the Data link), as you can tell this is only a guess. Thanks in advance.
  17. Yes fleet defender. Sorry it's Ghost that hits me. Ok I will try and taxi right again this evening and do as you suggest if it happens multiple times again.
  18. I'm assuming this is a result of the latest update but at the start of the mission I'm unable to taxi without Caveman hitting me. As soon as I start to move so does he but I am unable to avoid him. I have tried stopping to let him go first, turning right even turning left but I simply can't move quick enough to stop him ploughing into me. The fact that this hasn't been flagged before and that there has just been an update has me question if a starting position has changed? Thanks.
  19. Hi Lurker. I'm using VR and have noticed no drop in frame rate. Still as smooth as previous. You should really join the fun!
  20. Now that I have gotten used to the burble and am remembering to add wind in my missions I'm loving it! You have done a great job as always. I don't know if this is an ED issue or yours but the ACLS symbology is out for the glide slope on case 3s. The pilot calls up and on when everything is centred. Likewise I have noticed that IF you set it to full autopilot ACLS recovery it will now bolter everytime (mainly I have been trying to see the new hook physics from the outside).
  21. I need help from someone please. I'm really struggling with this mission. Am I missing something? Once I've taken off I have turned into the pattern keeping 10miles off the boat and it says to turn 265 (or whatever the bearing is) radial. Now my understanding of this is I set the bearing on my HSI in TACAN mode then when everything lines up I'm on the radial. I'm doing this and flying along it but not getting any more narrative. I've gone and found the tanker and filled up. I've landed back on the boat but nothing is giving me a mission complete. I feel I should be getting some sort of 'do this next' after I fly the radial. Have I done something wrong? I've tried this three times now and as it's less than relaxing a flight I'm getting frustrated. Help please.
  22. Weather and wind definitely make a huge difference. Now that I added a moderate amount of wind it's helped alot. This SIM just gets better and better. Thanks for all the help on here.
  23. Hi Reflected. Great immersive campaign thanks! Certainly a great follow up to Zone 5. I've noted that the PDF for mission 2 seems to be missing. Is there any chance of downloading it another way? Ta
  24. Well I could get a 3 wire maybe 7 times out of 10 but I'm finding when I hit that pocket I'm either not compensating quick enough or too much. I'm sure with Practice it will come but just feel out of control at the moment. It took me an age to learn originally and beating it is part of the enjoyment so I'm sure I will get there but eventually. Thanks though. It's nice to know it's just going to be a case of practice. That's what I originally thought but I always put lights on before start up once the external power is connected as I understood procedures say. If you then line up on the cat with lights already on then nothing happens until you cycle off then back on. Either way it works and is a really fun touch.
