Have given the first three missions a try and really enjoying the puzzles it creates thanks. I've changed them to cold start though, will that adversely affect anything?

The main issue I have had since the update isn't getting onto the F5 tail but him diving consistently below the hard deck. In fairness as a game plan to lock out the F14 it's great! Is a little frustrating though and no idea how you would stop them doing it. To recreate I suggest using the teaser 1v1 as he has done it 5 out of 5 times for me in that one. That said in the larger multi aircraft engagements with missiles, the new ai has definitely made me have to rethink the gameplan and the above is less of an issue.

I had this also where we had downloaded a multiplayer mission with lots of different aircaft, targets etc. Worked out that there was a 'feature' conflict in the server settings. So the model of the carrier was pushing but clipping making it shudder. The fix is to have the person leading the server to remove that object and it fixes it.

Question..... has the Spit fuel bugged out? I have just redone mission 3 and landed without the fuel gauge once flickering and starting to drop. The settings are correct for fuel feed and whilst I was much more conservative with my engine settings I was still taken aback by how much I had left. The external drained at a pace I expected but not the internal. As much as I would like to say it was me I wonder if its above me and if anyone else has noticed more generous range lately?

Yes I agree and hope they do it justice. I don't understand the vehement anger this map has produced though? OK, you don't like it, then don't buy it. Why are you all trying to shout down those that are interested. Yes it's the same area but it sounds like it's much more than a simple patch. How many of you would expect to get a free book or coffee simply because you had bought one in previously? If this was just an update then yes I would be angry about paying more, but it's not. It's much bigger and clearly involves lots more work. If you don't want it then fine, but the rest of us don't need to know that. Sorry for the rant all but these forums seemed to have changed since ED started releasing new upcoming projects week after week. With so much content there is bound to be things individuals aren't interested in but others are. This is a good thing, it's allowing DCS to become more individual and people to focus on what they like. Not everyone is the same and that's a good thing.

I'm hoping that this new 'Normandy' will include such iconic landmarks from further afield as Vimy and Thiepval included as well as maybe something more discrete such as Newfoundland Park, the Ulster tower etc. Likewise it would be great to finally see la Cupole and the bunker at Eperlecques. Knowing the new map goes as far west as Paris I have my fingers crossed that these will be finally recreated in DCS.

I have no idea? My sidewinder hit a missile directly in front of me and I few through the cloud. Lost the HUD, VDI and TID and it was flying a bit off. Both engines remained good and the steam gauges continued working. In fairness the only warning lights I had were for the roll SAS so there could have been an element of paranoia and role-playing in there? Glad I did though, loved it!

OK so I've played this campaign multiple, multiple times now but with the new model AIM-54 I thought I'd give mission 7 another spin. Long story short during the tussle I somehow managed to shoot a missile out of the air with an AIM-9 but ingested a load of crap. Lost all sorts of systems and so immediately knocked it off and aimed for the nearest airfield as a divert. This happened to be Groom Lake...... Well played Sir! Well played

Have just finished reading through the above and want to say a huge thank you for the work you do. Although I haven't had a chance to put your latest teachings and observations to practice yet, I do feel much more confident now in understanding the how's and the whys. You are definitely the community SME in my mind and alot more helpful than the contradictory rants on the heatblur forum at the moment.

Having spent an evening playing I'm loving the new models and you can really feel the difference when watching on tacview. Think I need to learn new tactics now though.

Thanks @IronMikefor everything you and the team at heatblur do, can't wait to give this update a try! Going through the changelog, does this mean the explosive fuel dump bug is still ongoing? Its become a fun little trick to get in close formation with someone, get there attention then flip the switch and hear their reaction

So @Cobra847 , as every man and his dog seems to be announcing new maps weekly at the momen, is now the time that the dream of the Southeast Asia map becomes a reality? I know it would be a shedload of work but I'd feel happier Heatblur doing it above anyone else. I'd even stop pestering about the A6 (for a little while ).

@Jayhawk1971 the A1 would be pretty spectacular in DCS! Gets my vote!

OK.....how about Cobra hinting at the Southeast Asia map in the far flung future? What with the F100 being announced, F4 and A6 on the way A4 mod getting more and more complex....

F4 I knew about. Who is doing the F8?

Great episode for of lots of interesting ideas and news. With regards to other cold War jets may I suggest the F8, the Thud and the Hun! Also it's a sold here for the full fidelity A6, super carrier forrestal and East Asia if they happen. Thanks for all the hard work and honesty in the interview. Lots of food for thought.
