Thrustmaster Warthog Extension
metalnwood replied to zahry's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
On the shipping form dont write 'extension for thrustmaster'. Customs over there are very protective of their adult industry. -
Whats happened in thw world of the cube? Real life caught up? :)

I recently got simvibe and 4 transducers that I use on my racing rig. I am unsure of the reason and it may not apply to you but car amps just didnt work well at all. It could be because simvibe sends signals through the amp which are not usual for an amp expecting basic and easy sine waves or it could be that they are generally not powerful enough for a transducer. I would do a bit more reading to see people doing it if you dont already have a car amp. For the cheap price of an aura I would do that over a driver from a speaker. I have seen people do that but not with great results. The coils and in particular the piston wasnt really designed for it so I dont think you will get as good as you could for similar price.

Thrustmaster Warthog Extension
metalnwood replied to zahry's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Right, I see where you are coming from . I think the most effective way to use this mod is to bring the base up as high as you can so that you only have to extend the stick 75-100mm. Even 75mm makes a world of difference to using the stick and the tension is just right, when you start to go longer then the stick starts to lose resistance fairly quickly. I think there are a number of threads around where people make some platform to raise the stick base, this imho is the way to go. -
Thrustmaster Warthog Extension

Sabre, unless you are certain about that length and have tried it before you may not want 30cm, thats on the extreme end for this mod and you will have to make a lot of movement, also the stick will not support itself in the center, it will fall to the side when your hands are off. -
As Flim mentioned, I have his seat which is why I didnt keep the plans for the other one around. If one can be had from Flim in the future it would be a very good seat.

If you can find dxf files that would be best. I have in the past taken that PDF you found and converted it to dxf. It would be an expensive way to get your cnc guy to do it like this. I cant remember, I may have been able to import the pdf directly in to my cad software and then just resize the parts until they were the dimensions listed, I think that is what I did as the pdf contained the drawings as vectors. Unfortunately, I do not have the dxf files anymore.

Arduino, EOS and other funky ways to interface
metalnwood replied to agrasyuk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Merlin, while a little more expensive the ultimarc uhid stuff is good. You can get them with few or many inputs. Each input can be configured to be a keyboard key/macro or joystick button/analog axis and they will allow you to add rotary switches amongst other things. So if you are looking for a small thing like that then I can recommend them as a customer who has bought a few things over the years - including the ipac for my first arcade machine :) -
I still think for similar money that something like this gs-4 seat is a good idea for flight sims. The seat doesnt move but it has internal zones that do and they apply pressure, including the bottom of the seat so it can lift you up a bit to give you the sensation of heave, it can also sustain the feeling of forces. The thing I like about it for a potential pit is that it doesnt move or require a large base so it can fit with what ever you have. Here is a vid that shows some of the top of it without the cover so you can see a couple plates moving. I havent tried one but I have only heard good things.

I think this was the first cockpit I built that wasnt based around a desk, quite a few years ago now and before I had all my CNC gear. It was good, I think I used foam padding for the seat but all in all it was comfy enough. Probably too late now but doesnt the software you use have some sort of fillet like 'dogbone' or t-boneor similar? I use it for this type of stuff so I dont have to chisel out the inside coreners to make them square, the cnc takes care of it by notching the inside corner so a sqaure piece will fit.

I have used an ipac in an arcade machine, the main thing to be aware of is that it does not appear as a joystick to the game, it is a keyboard encoder so it only sends keyboard commands to the computer. This is not a problem for arcade machines which it was made for but might be an issue for you unless you know all your commands are bound to keyboard keys or you know they can be.

Flim, so you will have a light panel between them?

Acemark, pitbuilders rely on the export scripts top get information from the game to drive our external gauges/lights/switches etc. Helios, tars, ipad apps etc are examples of things that require DCS to export in game information through those scripts. I would have to think it's a typo otherwise how else does ivibe get their information?

Try cleaning with isopropyl alcohol if you have some, it works with my laser max.

pretty sure that would not include a more complex gauge like the ADI or HSI for $30, more like just the simpler engine gauge, single, maybe two pointer gauges.

Read the thread in the mods section about jgsme, it will help you out a lot with reinstalling mods.

You can use the feature 'manage attachments' on the forum to upload them directly to the forum.

I dont suppose you have a flickr account and have autologon going? Just wondering if you have to have an account to see them?

I cant see your photos?

I bought this software some time ago, it works well and all gears produced on it are fine so far. http://woodgears.ca/gear/index.html Gadroc, if you give me the basics of what you need I can send you the dxf for it. You can download the free software, check it works and then send me the parameters?

Searching for the guy I suggested Duckling you will see in his signature a link to his website, from memory it has a number of drawings with dimensions for various panels. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=66885&page=7 As far as the 3d printer, I like them very much :) What I usually don't like about them is the ones that joe average can afford :) The quality of the parts is not good enough for me although with additional work on the parts they could be made acceptable, I.e. printing some of the hard to get knobs etc. #d printing is great but great 3d printing requires some $$, Most people on these forums use a laser or CNC router, a recent thread here generally gave the nod to a laser as being the more useful tool in the hands of a panel builder. Of course none of these options are particulary cheap and when you say the budget of joe average I dont quite know how much you would invest? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99652 Hope that helps.

I don't know what joe any guy can afford but search for reprap to see DIY 3d printers. Research to see if the output quality from DIY printers is acceptable to you, it isn't to me, you can't expect miracles from them with the fit and finish on parts. You can find dimensions for existing panels right here in the forums. Search for guys like Duckling and follow links in his sig. Searching will find others.
