I kept my HOTAS Cougar throttle in the hope that one day we would get the F-16 in DCS, I just need to get the Realsimulator USB adaptor. Surely Thrustmaster still has the tooling and moulds to make a USB modern version of the TQS? The HOTAS Warthog stick is close enough.

Introducing the Final Part of the VPCockpit - VPC Rudder Pedals!
Revvin replied to Cyph3r's topic in VIRPIL Controls
The new line-up looks fantastic, Virpil certainly has come a long way 8n two years, congratulations to the team. -
Wrong on every count, I am not, and never was a CH retailer and I didn't switch to a Warthog a good time ago though I do own one and still have the grip and throttle from my old HOTAS Cougar among other assorted controls from over the years.

I wonder if with DCS:F16 coming why Thrustmaster don't re-release the HOTAS Cougar TQS as a standalone throttle like they did with the Warthog eventually. Some updates to the internals, pots changed for halls for example and its good to go. They must still have all the mouldings to make the parts surely so no development costs for that. I still have my old TQS, I might buy the RealSimulator TUSBA and hook mine up

Cinematic feat. M83 - A New Era (F/A-18)
Revvin replied to I_Gamer's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Love watching stuff like this, it just reminds me how far we really have come from starting out with Gunship on the ZX Spectrum to DCS now. Even into the Amiga and Atart ST era and early PC sims you would be amazed if you got a CGI cutscene that looked even a fraction as good as what we have now. -
Recommend a good headset for DCS please...
Revvin replied to slicker55's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've been using a wireless Corsair Void 7.1 headset and find the sound quality and mic superior to the ASTRO A50 headset I have for console use. Friends who have used my headset on my PC have mentioned how comfortable it is and light. It has micro fibre breathable material on the ear pieces so long stints with them on don't get sweaty like the cheaper fake leather cups on other headsets. The section on the end of the headband that attach to the ear pieces and allow them to move and swivel are made of metal so durability shouldn't be a problem, I've had mine for about 2 years and not had any issues with the hardware or the software for the headset. https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Color/void-pro-wireless-config-na/p/CA-9011152-NA -
Give them a chance, we all know this is a relatively new start up with not a lot of staff to go around all the various forums and judging by the way the T-50 sold out they are in high demand at the moment.

Please combine features of grips to a new one...
Revvin replied to Vannipo's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I don't use twist sticks but if its a lockable feature why not include it for those that do? -
Are the T50 grip and Warbird base going to be available....
Revvin replied to ElCuco68's topic in VIRPIL Controls
The Warthog stick does not have an analogue brake lever, it's a lever with a button behind it. The throw of the lever can be adjusted by a small screw under the lever to make the button activation a little quicker. -
It's been reported, there's really no need for this kind of behaviour

If I bought this bundle do I get separate codes that I could give to someone else? I only need the Gazelle

It will be interesting to see what TeamSpeak can do to re-establish itself. The group I play with use Discord now but did use TeamSpeak and we'd switch back to TeamSpeak if it proves to be the better. As for the links above, I assume they are the same person as they make the same unfounded, unsubstantiated rumour and innuendo. There are many examples of successful entrepreneurs or CEO's have failed or sold businesses behind them, there is a Japanese proverb that says "fall seven times and get up eight". If there is a good reason to drop Discord then I'm all ears but comments like "sinister" and "It's like it's grooming kids" are not very helpful. We bleed information every day no mater how much you try and secure up accounts through social media like Facebook, Google, mobile phone use ,web browser, credit/debit card purchases and satellite TV viewing.

They look really nice but recent products from Thrustmaster's racing line have had silly price tags

Congratulations on the new factory, are those BRD pedals in the background or something new?

Response from Thrustmaster re. F/A-18 HOTAS
Revvin replied to Garyss's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If they do have a new product they will have invested a fair chunk of money in marketing, lining up preview articles and reviews from trusted websites, YouTube influencers and partners, they would not blow all that just to tell (no offence meant) some random guy who sent in a question from their website who would then release the information in an uncontrolled manner across a flight sim forum. -
I miss the old glossy manuals we used to get, depending on price I'd be interested if it were possible to be shipped internationally, I think I still have Nic Cole's LOMAC manual here somewhere.

Any Thrustmaster FA-18C hand grip tie-in/pre-purchase?
Revvin replied to Nordo130's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm surprised someone like Virpil hasn't announced a stick already after releasing the others in quick succession. Its a shame TM have never capitalised on the replaceable stick design they started with the HOTAS Cougar. -
Be careful on the pedal width, I think you might be ok but the Obutto Ozone won't fit the wider pedals like the Crosswind's. Other than that the Obutto cockpits are great for all manner of game genre's and for doing work on. I have the Ozone and its great for switching between flight sim mode with a centre mount for the stick and then for racing. I have a Fanatec CSW v2 hard mounted to the acrylic table top and I just remove the wheel and slot the joystick into the centre mount without any of the hardware clashing. Simply remove the centre mount stick and swing the keyboard and mouse tray around and I'm ready for FPS or RTS gaming. You can fix the tray in position but I find its stable and suitable for FPS games without tightening the fixing screw. The articulating tray on the R3volution is even better. With the acrylic table top I can place work documents on there and use the keyboard and mouse tray to work from home quite comfortably as the seat is comfortable and can be adjusted for comfort.

I know the stick is plastic, I was just curious about the part on the base of the stick that screws onto the metal thread on the base/gimbal. Thrustmaster went with a plastic thread on the gimbal end and a metal thread on the base of the stick which always worried me about cross threading and the metal chewing up the thread which would render the base useless.
-
Good to know, the finish looks so good you could be forgiven for thinking its plastic, its something I thought was odd with the HOTAS Warthog to make two parts that rely on strength out of two different materials and I wondered about the long term durability if that was the case with the Mongoose as Virpil are now starting to produce more sticks to fit to the base.
-
Is the screw mechanism that fastens the stick to the base plastic?

Introducing the VPC Constellation Series
Revvin replied to Cyph3r's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Dual stick setup's seem to be all the rage right now in space sims which have enjoyed a big resurgence in recent years, not sure I could transition from pedals to a second stick but I think its a good move to make their space stick ambidextrous as it caters for both groups without having to manufacture a left handed version. I think their products are already keenly priced compared to other manufacturers for what you get, I'm not sure I see the need for a cheaper base. Thrustmaster squandered the ability to switch sticks so its great to see a manufacturer cracking on with producing more grips for their base without the need for adaptors and additional parts. -
