  1. Lol never turned back the detail that far, I'm usually trying to squeeze in every last bit of detail in my rig will allow :)
  2. Yeah we didn't need them fancy schmancy textured polygons, they will never catch on  Maybe one day we could get a 'legacy mode' for DCS World, just coloured polygons, no textures just for old times sake :D
  3. I still have my Flanker 1&2 cd's for old times sake, I'd love to find an app so I can install them on my Windows 7 64 bit system. That Papa Doc image brings back memories of the 'heated' debates that used to rage on the comp.sys.ibm.pc-games.flight-sim newsgroup over which sim was better between Falcon and Flanker fans :)
  4. That's a pretty comprehensive strip-down of a Fighterstick :)
  5. Yes but that's the RRP, the HOTAS Warthog had an RRP of £369 but you could find it sold for much less than that at retailers
  6. Choice is a good thing, surely a standalone throttle will follow? it may well sell well to those with other brands of stick who long for a split throttle, I know its a popular talking point in my forum. A standalone Cougar throttle would be good, they have all the moulds still surely and could hopefully revamp it and replace the dodgy pots with hall sensors. Pedals have been a long time coming and they never did get around to producing those additional handles that were talked about when the Cougar was released.
  7. Very cool, $120-$150 would be interesting
  8. One of the reasons I bought the HOTAS Cougar waay back when was the talk of additional grips, I thought it was a great idea that was wasted by Theustmaster. The Cougar had its issues but the Warthog seems like a good platform for them to build on. They may have changed their mind on add-on products now as they made an add-on F1 style wheel rim for their T500RS wheel which can be easily changed but maybe flight sims are more niche and its not viable?

I think I'm going to give it a go when its released, look like it could be fun. I don't think many people hack ARMA II because not many people play it but its very easy if the way the script kiddies are hacking the DayZ mod to spawn helicopters and tanks and blow up buildings
  10. Any UK players might want to look at my friends server he set up for our FPS gaming group LazyAssGamers, just type LU15 into the server filter and it should show. He's on there most of the time and any hackers are usually dealt with swiftly. The server might be down Friday though if the Dayz server admin boycott actually happens
  11. I've used ASUS for years, really good boards and really reliable and I'd use them again but on my last upgrade two years ago I went with Gigabyte and I've been really happy with my choice and in my experience so far there is nothing to choose between them when it comes to reliability. I don't think you can go far wrong with either brand.
  12. I think TrackIR delivers so much more immersion than a HOTAS no matter what brand or price and without TrackIR you end up losing a hat switch or mouse cursor on your HOTAS too
  13. Hopefully ED can give us an answer in the next few days? and maybe a rough estimate as to when the BS2 upgrade users will get access. While I don't subscribe to the conspiracy theories about ED trying to make more sales out of this it does make me wonder if things like this might put people off being early adopters for any such future upgrades to software and potentially harm revenue to ED.
  14. I suppose this is another example of the pitfalls of being an early adopter of a product. I’m really disappointed not to be able to try out BS2 in DCS World :( I’m not about to march on ED’s HQ with burning torches and pitchforks or set up an online petition, just a little disappointed but can ED give us a rough timeframe as to when BS2 upgrade users will be able to get access to the BS2 module for DCS World? :joystick::pilotfly:
  15. You're still thinking of A-10, BS2, P-51 as separate entities, its DCS World that ties them all together, the planes are just modules now so their version number is not as relevant as they were when they were standalone products.
  16. That looks fantastic, great job!
  17. I'm surprised people downloaded this expecting to fly all over the world, the download size should have given something away that this was not the entire planet in one 5GB download. I don't think there is anything misleading about the name, its the place where everything to do with DCS is contained, therefore it is 'DCS World'. Thank god they didn't call it DCS Universe, I can't imagine the complaints that would appear because users couldn't fly around Saturn's rings etc
  18. I would be nice to have an official DVD sleeve released at some point for those like me who have an OCD for having their ED sims lined up in boxes on a shelf :)
  19. I feel compelled to hit the buy button but my OCD for owning boxed versions of ED's sims is fighting against it, will there be a boxed version?
  20. Please release a printed manual
  21. I've been a TrackIR user from the fiirst model and the performance for me has come from the increased resolution with each new model. The firmware unlocks a lot of new features that are now available to developers for the first time with this new SDK and firmware but I know you're not big on reading so I'll leave it at that.
  22. I'm guessing you've never used Kinect of Forza 4. Forza 4 uses a lot of head sway and bobbing to give the sensation of speed, having played a lot of Forza 4 with the Kinect (the developer hasn't done a good job on implementing it either) that video doesn't really show lag at all in my opinion as you can't reallly tell how much the players head is turning and how much of the view is actually the head bobbing and tilting as part of the game itself giving that sensation of speed. Even on the 360 I find the Kinect fine for small movement, very good alll round but its large quick movements where iit can lag but for head tracking on a PC with the new firmware they are adding to the Kinect then I am cautiously optimistic. It seems you've already made up your mind though that its going to fail, scepticism is fine but I'd hate to think there was any of the old PC snobbery element coming out just because this has come from the console platform.
  23. I think the video showing facial movement shows how good the system can be. I have a Kinect for my XBOX 360 and it can be laggy in certain conditions but I wonder how much is down to what system resources the Kinect is allowed to use as to make the device cheaper Microsoft stripped out some of the onboard processing and used the 360's resources. The one problem I see is that so many games support TrackIR and they have been very protective of their technology and not shared it so would Kinect be able to provide any backwards compatibility for TrackIR enhanced games? If not I'd have to keep two devices hooked up for older sims which would only have TeackIR support.
  24. I have a TrackIR and a Kinect, I'd love to be able to just sit down in front of my PC and use the Kinect for head tracking than have to put on a cap or some other refelctive material or LED array for TrackIR
  25. You can program the Cougar in TARGET, they are both USB devices so as long as your sim recongnises more than one input it should be fine.
