Updated my laptop last Thursday from Windows 8.1 to 10, no issues. I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft and did a clean install last night but it didn't recognise my Windows 7 key so went online to Microsoft's tech support and they gave me a brand new key, no questions asked. The funny thing was the CSR wanted to remote access my PC to help and sent me a link to do this but it wouldn't work in IE 11 or their new Edge browser so the Microsoft tech asked if I could install Firefox or Chrome and use them instead lol

TrackIR was a revelation when it arrived on the scene but it hasn't really evolved past the TrackIR 3 I own. It's a great device but needs correct positioning and I never found the sweet spot in my Obutto cockpit. When I look down to instruments it tends to lose itself and I don't like having to wear a cap or a fragile LED array. Recently I started using EDTracker which doesn't require a camera and instead uses a gyro and accelerometer to give an output like a 3 axis joystick. The device is tiny and easily secured to the headband of my headphones. Its an open source project and you can download the circuit diagram and part numbers and built it yourself around £10 or buy one from the developers web-site for £27 which is far cheaper than TrackIR. Any game that allows an axis to control head movement will work directly with the EDTracker and apparently the latest version of Opentrack supports it for games like DCS World that only allow TrackIR or mouse control. I wrote a small article on it and listed the games I tried here: http://www.ch-hangar.com/edtracker/ For games that support head control via an axis I find EDTracker as good as TrackIR though it does not have 6DOF but I don't mind that as I no longer need to wear a hat or have a fragile LED array on my headphones. The USB lead to the EDTracker is fastened to the USB lead of my headphones so I don't have to fire up any software I just load the game and go. I wish Eagle Dynamics would open up head movement to be mapped to an axis and break the monopoly TrackIR has here.

Awesome, just bought the Sabre and updating to 1.2.9 now too
-
The Sabre looked fantastic at Duxford today
-
I don't know who I spoke to at Duxford today but it was great to see some of the new stuff coming through. With third party support as passionate as those at Duxford today DCS is really going to rocket skywards with new quality content
-
I was at RIAT today and Duxford tomorrow, really looking forward to it

I pen an open letter to Eagle Dynamics

Good post, I hope this thread can stay positive. I've used ED sims since the first Flanker and played all of them since. ED went up against established franchises like Janes and Falcon and are still here creating sims when others have closed up shop or moved on to more lucrative markets like console games. Without ED the future is quite bleak for jet sim fans and for sims in general the choices are not huge. If the financial hit on ED was too great what do people want? to get their freebie's and see another sim developer potentially go under and we don't see any further development of the DCS series? -
Probably not but it would be nice to see them acknowledged for doing the right thing, not just giving backers a choice of aircraft but for standing behind the WW2 project when they could have just directed the burning torch and pitchfork crowd towards Luthier. Someone mentioned in the last thread about the previous announcement being bad for long time ED supporters. I was quite happy to give my spare key to a friend and I've been using ED sims since the original Flanker sim and played them all ever since and I was more concerned about the financial difficulties the backer reward program would put on ED. ED are one of the few developers who have managed to stay in business when many others closed or diverted into console games but they stuck with what they did best. Without ED its a pretty bleak outlook for jet sim fans.

Well I'm happy with my rewards, I would have liked a choice as I already own allDcs modules but it's not a big deal, I'll give my P-51 key to a friend to get him started. I really wondered how RRG could make the $40 dollar level financially viable and I'm glad ED took the difficult decision to restructure. Really ask yourselves, would you like to get your modules and then possibly see ED go bankrupt and never see another product from them again?

I'm going to RIAT I will have to come over and have a look

Because you can't buy a new Cougar and they are becoming rarer on eBay and why buy a whole HOTAS when you could just buy the throttle? You have to buy a HOTAS and then an adaptor and it can't be programmed in TARGET. They sell the stick as a standalone it would seem the next logical step would be a standalone throttle unit so people can mix and match although a ED Falcon module would surely help drive sales.
-
I saw that a few days ago, handy if you have a Cougar and a Warthog, you could just quickly plug in the Cougar throttle when flying F16's. Thrustmaster should release and updated standalone USB F16 throttle, they must surely still have all the tooling for it tucked away somewhere? With some tweaks and a few hall sensors chucked in it wod be a nice unit to have.

You could just use the TARGET software to program the Cougar

Corsair Vengeance 2000 wireless headset. I find the microfiber padding on the ear pieces really comfortable compared to the ones on my Logitech G35 headset.

Track IR Broken, Replace or Wait?
Revvin replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You could be waiting a while before the OR is released as a retail unit, I guess it depends on how much flying you do between now and say middle of next year? If that was my parrot he'd be pining for the fjords -
[REPORTED] Fw 190 Cockpit Bar! (answer Post #173)

So release the plane with a mod that removes the screen seal as long as all the Luftwobble pilots fly with wet underkrackers -

The Official "Where's my Update" Thread
Revvin replied to Revvin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Great update, as Mysticpuma says its not about being angry its just about wanting some kind of interaction. I'd have been happy with half of the information that came out today, even if Luthier had said a few days ago "hey I'm suffering with connection issues, I will be back on the forums soon" it would have helped. The new cockpit images look fantastic I wasn't expecting to see that stuff so early on. The project takes as long as it needs, if it runs over I wouldn't have a problem with that just as long as Luthier keeps us posted its all good. -
The Official "Where's my Update" Thread
Revvin replied to Revvin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Look, all I asked for was an update, I made no threats, I did not use vulgar language, didn't call anyone names. I just pointed out that Luthier had been - until yesterday inactive on the forums since the 16th and made reference to what I felt was over zealous moderating in closing/deleting/moving threads of a similar ilk. I feel the moderator title edit of this thread is just another opportunity to poke fun at those requesting an update - it may not have been meant that way but that's how I took it. My previous thread was deleted without any explanation. You'll see from my posting history I've been a long time supporter of ED starting with the original Flanker sim right through to DCS. I'm not throwing my toys put of the pram and making demands or posting to make mischief, just a simple request for an update. ED have put their name to this title and anyone working under it should remember their actions or lack of them can also reflect badly on ED. As we know there are a few people out there who will take every opportunity to talk this title down, is it really wise to give them an open goal to shoot at by not interacting with a community that have already stumped up cash for this title? -

Revvin replied to Revvin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Asking for an update from the developer and asking mods not to delete a reasonably worded request for that update is childish? Strange world you live in. -
I don't agree on IL2:CoD but certainly IL-2 is the reason I supported the Kickstarter campaign.

Yes a rather childish update to the title by one of the mods because I dared to criticise -
The Official "Where's my Update" Thread
Revvin replied to Revvin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
It doesn't have to be an official update with pictures, just popping in every now and then and telling us how things are going or perhaps a nice feature they are working on. This early on I think Luthier set himself up for a fall by mentioning two weekly updates this early on but no communication at all is not the answer either. -
I posted a thread earlier referring to Luthier's inactivity here, I wasn't rude, I didn't call anyone nasty names I just pointed out that its been over two weeks now without any kind of update from Luthier and that got deleted, someone else's thread was locked and another thread moved into another forum. Mods> We'd just like to hear from Luthier even if its just to say they are still working hard and will have an update as soon as they can but this silence is deafening and reminds me of the periods Luthier went AWOL in the 1C forums after the Cliffs of Dover release. Many of us paid in to the kickstarter in the hope that Luthier could realise his dream and make a sim that we would all enjoy, I don't think anyone expects daily updates or even the weekly ones he planned but some new would be nice.
