  1. If I remember correctly, the only way to get an Mk. 8x to airburst is to put a long probe at the front, i.e. a fuze extender. So when the probe hits the ground, the bomb goes off. Works well against dismounts, which aren't modeled in the game.
  2. I think some friendly AI needs to be improved, such as heading out 100 kays to make an attack (not real so, but if you want to boogie, mit wingman, it's impossible) and having to repeatedly call them in. On the other hand though, the AI is much more dependable in LOMAC than it ever was in Flanker. This creates the bias that wingnuts are good targets for the enemy AI, and treated as such, or an additional bomb truck. But I feel more safer when I got one.
  3. Actually, it's better to put the camo layer "under" the panel lines, or rivet layer. That way if you stick to 100% opacity, you won't have to Multiply the camo layer  I got a modded MIG-29S line layer that I can send to Alex if need be, it's what I did for SK and Cat. Though if he's interested, I'd suggest emailing me as I don't stop here that often...
  4. Eric, Not correct Eric....this only applies to "active" units such as aircraft, ships, vehicules etc. CLSIDs for countries are not listed in the Lockon.exe - you can generate a new CLSID yourself, assign it to a country entry in the MEinit, and it will work "in-game"......if the country entry you made in the MEinit is composed corretly of course :) . Email me sometime, as I got an Iranian MIG-29 that I sent to Cat, that could use a home, but then again, it's more than just adding the CLSID. And could probably use another project to do.
  5. I would say no. The AIM-120 is easy to evade, roughly by jinking, and some chaff. It's also easier because it's an active-radar, so it doesn't have too much of a strength. The AIM-7 can be defeated by diving down, then pulling up and re-acquiring, so either way, you have to jink and re-acquire. It's a pain of a missile, since it's guided by the fighter's radar. Usually the best way to determine what's fired first is to understand Russian engagement philosophy. Funny I should mention this right? But usually an IR missile is fired first, to get the enemy to jink, into the path of a SARH missile. Then the AI coding is sometimes it will maneuver to get within IR missile range, not radar missile range. Except for the MIG-31, or F-14, which will definitely try to pick you off at extreme range. Sometimes the AI will fire the ER missiles, but even then, expect an R-27TE, other than an -27RE. As for the American aircraft, it will fire an AIM-9, fired by either an AIM-120, or worse, an AIM-7, which will get you while jinking, if you're not careful.
  6. I believe it was Iran he was trying to add as well. Yeah, the stuff is there, but the thing is that the CLSID's aren't there, or even part of the Lockon.exe, which "sees" them, and therefore allows them ingame. I had some stuff developed for it, but it fell through. You can always just modify one of the countries that is existing, and modify that through the MEInit.xml
  7. Trackir don't make the grounds targets more visible  Nor does everybody use TrackIR, so the padlock function is necessary..
  8. Plus you got more in case you missed. Of course, doing this requires proper leading techniques. It'll probably take a couple or few missiles, but it's all about timing..
  9. And that means....? BTW man, how are things going? It means that it is something that is being considered. I'm doing great. How about you? Back from the sandbox yet? If so, welcome back. If not, do you need another CARE package sent? Cheers, Carl Gotcha. Actually no, I'm not back yet, and considering staying another year here. Crazy? maybe, but I think I can stay in the fight one more year...
  10. And that means....? BTW man, how are things going?
  11. The only thing I can add is that the Pre-designated targets are pretty much "troops lasing for you". It's not really implemented, but would be a good mission building tool, where you have to figure out angles of observation, but it's assumed the designator has eyes on, and is doing his job.
  12. Well, it could be a hidden agenda, but to me it seems they just like quality, and there's nothing wrong with that. The only problem is, that most people are used to "survey sims" and in-depth detail (a la F4), so in some cases people just don't like it. It however, has a potential to be a training tool, but let's just say that most gov computers couldn't handle LOMAC.
  13. Actually that's pretty much how real life CAS is done. There aren't any waypoints since most of the time CAS is on-call, not preplanned, unless of course you're talking about a large operation. As for ID. The best thing to do is A) have friendlies move, enemies stationary, waypoint pointing to target area, or B) reverse except still have waypoint point towards the engagement area. Or the mission builder should be VERY specific if it's supposed to be a meeting engagement, in which case, leave it to the AI and just take out anything you think may be the enemy. Or at least code it so that the pilot has a pair of binos (binoculars) to visually identify the target. Then again, I've done a CAS mission where the direction was correct, as well as the distance. It's very easy to perform, but then again, we're not talking about hills, valleys, etc. But apply the above to mission design, and should hopefully solve some problems. And on the Bradleys. M2s carry seven, M3s carry 12.
  14. Yeah, but it may be either a bug (highly unlikely), programmed that way, maybe to "seperate" the weapon from the aircraft, model-wise. I'll be honest in saying that I don't see AMRAAMs fired everyday so I can only hypothesize on what does happen.
  15. Okay, that was a lucky shot then.... As for 152mm rounds (or 155) not being a standard AT weapon, sure, but a mobility kill is bad bad for a tank. You can't shoot and communicate if you can't move..
  16. Well, given the current work, and setup it's alot easier to keep it in 512 x 512. Granted back then there was an emphasis for higher res skins, but it didn't materialize. There is alot of detail you can add to the Flanker, but you're talking alot of rivets man. And that makes the MIG-29 EASY.
  17. It's because once they leave the rail, they initiate the upward climbing profile, and it happens pretty quick, so it seems like they do that. Plus it's the fact that there really isn't a collision zone through the aircraft 3D model. As for the sideways stuff, if you're in a turning fight (mainly where I noticed it), the release from the hardpoint, combined with inertia, "throws" it off. The F.3 has a rod that extends to ensure 100% release from the aircraft, as normally they (I think) use a very small charge, or something to that effect.
  18. The side panels of the M1A1/2 are a composite layer that can reduce the effects of an RPG, but if something like a 7V, then it could damage the tank. Note that it also amounts to the gunners skill in firing the weapon. One scout showed me a picture of an RPG that missed an M1A1 on a road, and got a civilian car. And such Active Defense systems work in open terrain, not in the confines in the city, where it wouldn't react in time. It can happen, though I really haven't heard much on a .50 disabling a tank, but then again, the insurgents here don't use those very often. And IEDs (particularly artillery shells) are effective. If they don't destroy the tank outright, then it's not moving after that, that's for sure. I have to openly say that this is turning into another flame-war about the supposed superiority of both tanks. Each has thier advantages, and disadvantages. But you two do need to chill out.
  19. I think I can sort of be guilty of that too. I have done alot of stereotypical things, such as "Comrade Major" et al. I honestly haven't asked about it, just sort of put it out there, and see what happens, and my general feeling is that it's okay, not as good as Cat's writing. It's tough figuring out misisons (current writers block, and haven't been flying recently) that justify using an Su-33, so my missions have to be longer and more intricate than flying an Su-25T, I got so much ordnance to plan to use. And finally read the story today Cat, guess I gotta do another story eh? BTW, isn't the forum software able to put a "Post A Reply" button at the bottom of the page. I'm pretty sure the setup is ascending for Russians, and descending for English.... could you look into that Dmut?
  20. Maybe they just like to see something extra when shredding a tank, always looks good....
  21. Well, just scanning it looked good, gonna read it and possibly drool :)
