Actually, no we can't. Since Black Shark is being pirated 1C/ED have decided that they will not make Blackshark available for download for western countries.. And instead of downloading a torrent, I am willing to pay for a hardcopy from Russia.

Thinking exactly the same thing... And I am NOT a potential customer.. I AM a customer! I have the money ready to get AND the russian version, AND the Multilanguage version AND the manual. Just spend around 2000 euro on a new system/hotas/trackir4Pro.. And I am sorry, I am not waiting for 3 months. I'll see if I can get some russians to start up a mailorder bussiness... ;)

True... paying say 20-30 euro's for a couple of months flying DCS BS looks like a good deal to me. I do hope someone will post screenies of the UI with translated text, but knowing the community, someone will do just that. :)

Just look at FC payment There are lots of questions on the forum about payment. I have recently purchased FC from ED's website, and these were the options I had for paying. Just remember, this was from the english language website, I tried to get a screenshot from the russian version, but couldn't get it. And I haven't heard a confirmation that we, outside russia ( the "west" ) can even buy the russian DCS BS online. Mind you, I haven't heard otherwise either..

Can a russian program run on XP UK? Years ago I ordered a russian version of Il2 Forgotten Battles in Moscow. ( The Deluxe version as I got a T-shirt with it ) Unfortunately ( Well.. not really, had 2 english versions already :) ) the game wouldn't install on my XP version ( english) So like most people I am thinking of buying the russian version while I am waiting for the UK vesion to be released. But before I do that, can someone (now or later) confirm that the russian version will run on western language windows ? Koriel out

I completely agree with the sentiments expressed here that a sim should never be used to lean the basics. Some parts of flying can be explained and sometimes even practised in a desktop sim. Procedures, especially IFR ones.. the story of Zorrin reminded me of a student of mine. In the early 90's I was teaching at one of those flightschools where we did 10-day instrument ratings, 2 or 3 day multi-engine ratings and the likes. And we did PPL crash courses.. In walks this swedish student, gets assigned to me, forgot his name. His flying skills (handeling the a/c) a bit below average, not unsafe, but he was thinking too much.. Anyways, our flights were usually filled with exercises from t-o to landing. And departing the airfield to the practise area we already started flying "under the hood" tracking radials outbound after a couple of hours. On this particular flight I was planning on introducing him to this practice ( he had 4-5 Hours) but time constraints made me forget/skip the briefing. I mentioned this to him while climbing out, and he replied basicall like Zorrin's student.. I know how to do it, no sweat.. So under the hood he went, and lo and behold, he did just fine!! I was testing him, and let him do intercepts, tracking in and outbound etc.. Ok, coming back he did mess up the ILS, but that was due to his handling :) Before he came over he had apparently practised a whole lot on Flight Simulator, ( version ?? 2-3-4? Have no clue, was early 90's) So he makes a perfect example of what you can and can't learn in a basic sim.. No handeling skills, but using IFR equipment and procedures is fine. And going a bit further about full motion sims, I have flown quite a few, but i wouldn't say that you can learn how to fly on one of those.. Every 6 months I have to remind myself that it's a computer,and not an a/c and I do fine..

Improved "conventional" behaviour One of the things that have bothered me for years now is the way the AI behaves during normal operations. ie: - level change enroute, (climb).. Full AB to maintain speed, when level using a bit of airbrake to maintain speed again. - Descent, not using an economic descent profile using altitude to maintain speed with reduced power settings.. oh no.. airbrake is being used again. - Not using a slow lane after landing, not vacating at the earliest option, but using the whole runway to clear. - AI won't land in squence after each other.. Which is a standard military practise. - Helicopter behaviour, the way heli's perform look very unrealistic to me, I'd like to see some "snappy" moves And one of my main gripes: The way traffic behaves round an airport. A/c just do their thing, and when they get into each other's zone they take evasive action !!! There "should" be some kind of ATC.. not necessarily verbal, but a way to keep all the a/c in the pattern and just recover a bunch in a short time. A couple of years ago I submitted a proposal to improve the whole traffic area around the airfields, thereby improving traffic flow and vastly increasing the airfields capacities.. Sadly no-one followd up.

I voted for less then 1 I work for a living.. ( Most of you wouldn't call it work though ;) ) And when i do I am gone for a few days at a time usually.. so on average, per week I guestimate less then 7 hours. But then again there will be weeks where all I have to do is sit by the phone ( on standby ) kids gone to school, wife working... Soo.. I hope for lots more, fraid it's gonne be less then i hope for.

Looking at the screenies and knowing LockOn I'd say yes, there will be airborne threats.. There will be a lot of different AI ac flying around.. and if they are from another faction, they will shoot.

IPv6 support? future ready... Hoi all, Just read an article that some isp's in holland are nearly IPv6 ready, or will be within 1 or 2 years. Got me thinking. DCS is supposed to be a series that should last for a few years at least, and seeing how people still play with F4 more then 10 years after release, how future proof is DCS? Or can IPv6 support be implemented at a later installment when needed? Koriel out
