  1. There is a software called "phantom server".. It was mentioned in that thread. It allows you to record a flight and then replay the flight on another computer acting as a server and fly with the phantom online. I'm not sure if its being updated or not but its an old lock on software you should ask maybe someone from a Virtual aerobatic team like someone from the Virtual Blue Angels, Virtual Thunderbirds, or Virtual Patriots they might know. Also If you really wanted to fly formation alone you could set up an AI with a route and fly on his wing but I don't recommend that. There are a couple of phantom servers in Flaming Cliffs 2 but I'm not to sure about DCS. The whole world thing is fairly new so I doubt the creators have updated it to be compatible with DCS world. Also read SilentEagles post in the thread WildBillKelsoe linked.
  2. Man I'm skeptical about these guys I was nearly praying for a super horrnet but since noone seems to know who they are, their model was copied off of turbosquid, their Web page isnt finished and the fact that they announced it on a fb page makes me skeptical. I wish they would come here and introduce themselves and tell us their game plan and where their from. Wags can you confirm if they have the go ahead to get a DCS tag? I was really hoping that ED was going to announce their next aircraft as F-18SH but now I have a feeling their doing an F-16 or maybe a f-18C still. Maybe even both. But Id be happy either way. Anyway good luck to them.
  3. I just hope that ED does the F-18 (preferablly the Superhornet(s)) that way they can be the first one to do carrier ops the right way. I want an F-16 but I feel that there are plenty of 3rd partys capable of that. I have a feeling the next aircraft will be announced later this year after combined arms, P-51, DCS world are done with beta. I think neveda and FC3 will be either open beta, released, or at least next on the list by the end of this year too. And I feel that ED is real busy right now. I feel they have a lot on their plate and now they have to help 3rd parties. Although they are making progress it might be awhile before we see DCS world full of aircraft.

    DCS: FPS

IMHO I don't know what EDGE will offer but things are looking good in EDs future but the engine their using now seems like their downfall. Looking at Outerra (even though its not complete and hasn't been tested in a real flight sim) it seems like ED is far behind as far as terrain engines. If ED were to make a new engine after they finish US Fixed Wing, DCS World and let 3rd party's that are approved by them take over, they would may be able to pull it off. Of course it would still take time. But I think it is time to start thinking of what DCS will need 10 years from now. Pretty much everything they're doing now but on an overall better terrain engine that models the world, with the same level of physics, a better sound engine, multi GPU/CPU support, etc. You guys keep saying itll kill ED if they tried to start from scratch but TBH they should have done that in the first place and you gotta start sometime somewhere.
  5. Wellll now that f-15E is being developed by IRIS that leaves two more options for US fixed wing: the F-18 and the F-16. I hope ED does the F-18 because they should be the first to take a step into how carrier ops is going to work. The F-16 could be done by any good third party really. Hopefully by the time the F-14 gets released will have a full functional carrier by ED. Edit: As far as asking about a carrier for IRIS it's too early to tell.
  6. So far the options I've seen are: - 2 player online (must hav IMO) - AI controlled backseat/frontseat (player gets to choose) - player switches between the two seats I say if its possible in a reasonably amount of time (which I doubt). Why not have all 3 of these options for the player and host to choose. This might be an impossible task because I honestly have no clue on how much it takes to impliment even one of these but if it works out it would be an excellent solution.
  7. Why? Why would you ask to spend more money on something? I mean I know DCS is a good product and games like COD are money hungry but that doesnt mean DCS has to be. I never understand why people ask to raise the price. I know you want to support ED but Im sure there is multiple ways of doing that other than asking to pay more. Just be happy you only have to pay 40 bucks for a prime sim.
  8. @leafer Cold world. I'm 16 and I'm black but I must admit I don't fly right now. 1. because my pc isnt good enough 2. because theres some things that I feel I should settle in real life first But I hope to fly soon maybe after I'm done with HS.
  9. my wish list 1.) An outerra like map/engine optimized to perform well in DCS 2.) multi cpu and gpu support 3.) better sound engine. I havn't tried the p-51 but on the vids I've seen it does sound good. I'm just hoping future jet aircraft will sound as good. like this: 4.) An integrated multiplayer lobby system 5.) vapor effects based on the weather

    DCS: EDGE

ED makes their own Outerra engine I know DCS edge and Nevada terrain hasn't been released yet, so this might sound like an ignorant post. I was thinking about the 3rd party terrain and theaters people will develope when the tools get released. Than I started thinking on the reason FSX is so popular. 1.) the mods and 2.) the ability to fly anywhere in the world. Well lets be honest the terrain in DCS could use a whole make over and EDGE I'm sure will do just that because it looks promising. But as I said I know EDGE hasn't even been released yet but what about the possiblity of ED creating its very own World engine like outerra but of course itd be optimized to fit DCS needs. They could purchase the Outerra engine but it might not be of interest in their personal needs and they would have no control over the engine I'm assuming. I understand that this would be a massive project but if ED would create something like that DCS would most likely be 10X as popular as it is now. Any thoughts or commets on this idea and why it will/will not work. (negative or positve)
  11. Yesss. Someone needs to contact VRS and falcon team and see if their interested in becoming 3rd party devlopers... That is unless the next DCS fighter IS a falcon or horrnet then they may not be necessary:smilewink:
  12. I'm supriesed noone has recognized you on your find.. It could mean nothing but I bet it means something
  13. lol I was about to make a double post but I knew I made a thread about this someday.. I guess it's not a very popular idea. DCS world did part of this and I know its still in beta but I think the multiplayer lobby part should be included also.
  14. I think your misinterpreting the word "Digital". I think the term was intended to mean computerized as in the DCS series itself is computerized and not 'everything in DCS has to be 21st century digital'. Think of it as "computerized combat simulator". But I agree ED made a really good move on the 3rd party developement path. I'm sure we'll have new modders come into the DCS world and not only make aircraft but terrain, and other amazing mods. I can imagine with all the great modders I've seen on this fourum that there will be a lot of great aircraft coming soon.
  15. So I was roaming around The Battle Simulator website and noticed a couple of things. First I noticed that the layout of the menus and map, shown in some screenshots and videos, were like the ones in the orginal Flaming Cliffs. Than I noticed that in the "UAV Generic Workstation" video that the (I'm not sure what they are called honestly) but the little corner cameras in the video look like the MFDs of the a-10 warthog. Also in the "Joint Fires Training by TFC" video the a10c was flying. So I'm not sure when these videos were made but: What are the technical differencs between DCS,BS,FC2 and the battle simulator? If the product in these videos were all made before the release of the actual commericial products (DCS,FC2,BS) what took so long to release it? I know ED had to do some changes but at least in the videos the products looked good enough to release. One more thing I found it could be nothing but in the "Pilot veiw" section of the website I found this. Currently nine flyable aircraft (A-10A, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, MiG-29, Su-25, Su-25T, Su-33, Ka-50) with more under development (F-16, F/A-18). I'm pretty sure thats been there for a while but If anyone had an explanation for it I just wanted to know. Heres the link btw. http://www.thebattlesim.com/index.php?end_pos=9&scr=list&lang=en Sorry I might not have been clear of what I was tryinng to say I could find the right words to explain myself but I guess I'm tryinng to say that: If The Battle Simulator was released and ready long before DCS than why did it take so long for it to release in the civilian market?
  16. Does anyone know what would be the best gaming laptop to max out or get the best performance out of DCS? Im looking for under 1500... Really Im looking around 1000 but 1500 might be pushing it. It will probally usually be connected to my 1440X900p moniter when playing if thats considered a factor.
  17. Is there a way a moderator can reset the poll and add more aircraft. Since I know every thread like it gets moved. But man you guys have to agree this list is too short and doesnt even inclued any of the main aircraft people like to talk about. It needs to be reset to get a good idea on too what a majority of people would prefer. It should have f-16,f-18,f-15,f-22,f-35,mig-29,Su-27,typhoon,rafale. You know what I mean. More selections like that.
  18. Thank you for the replys. I already knew about the low power supply but even if these parts were "cheap versions". Isnt that still good for the price. I mean as long as the parts dont break down or start acting slower than they are suppose to, isnt this still a good price. Also rember that this is the sale price. Like I said I think the real price is 900 something but thats still pretty good... Right? Well this was also when it was on sale but It came with like a free 3 month warrnty so as long as you have a good trade in warrnty do you think its worth the risk. Although that might have been a free offer when it was on sale too.
  19. I saw this computer on newwegg last week at this price. Its sold out now but it was before black friday and Im just wondering is there a catch because I never saw a computer like this that cheap even on sale. Also I think the orginal price of this without being on any sale was $970 USD. Which in my opionin is great for how good it is. Im not a computer expert but Ive been researching the past couple months so I do know that as far as Ive been seeing computers like these go around in the $1000-$1200 range. Thats just an estimate right now could be a little more but any ways here. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229283
  20. You should have added the F-15 even though I like the horrnet its a good way to see what the majority of people would prefer so please dont close this thread but you need to add the F-15
  21. Yeaaa buddy. Any hornet with properly inputed carrier ops and ground crew and a good jet noise that would make it sound like a true hornet would be Amazing. Imagine this in DCS level of quality. Honestly if ED can master this they would master almost anything and probally get a lot more people interested in their products. Dreaming:music_whistling:
  22. Well assuming that the next DCS will be a US fighter, most likely a f-18 or f-16. IMO I dont think it is neccessary to add another US fighter aircraft into FC3 but it would be interesting to get a European aircraft as a flyable since we already have russian and US aircraft in FC3. Itd be interesting to get the gripen, typhoon, Mirage whatever or if the next DCS is the F-18 hopefully another NAVY fighter to go head to head with the F-18 other than the Su-33.
  23. Am I the only one that thinks of "DCS flying legends" being a whole seperate game from the other DCS, Yes it is part of the Digital Combat Simulator series but the way he said it made it seem like it was a whole other sim. As in what ever aircraft that will be modeled would get put in a different scenario with different planes from its time period. If this is right this means that most likely it wont be compatible with the other DCS modern aircraft and it will have guns. I dont think ED would model a sim on a combat aircraft without weapons About the Flying Legend aircraft, the proof points toward the p-51 because thats the first plane that came to my mind when I read "Flying Legends" and Wags mentioned earlier to research the fighter collection. http://fighter-collection.com/pages/...tion/index.php But it would be cool to get a vietnam war era aircraft because those aircraft havnt been modeled to much
  24. Read number 5 on Wags post... Here
  25. I think this what you guys were talking about above but I think that DCS is taking long enough to drop new modules as it is but I do like fc and would still love a fc3. I think that the best way to maintain production and satisfy everybody is to make DCS and it should have the standard DCS complex mode, an arcade mode, and a mode in between that ressembles the complexity of Flaming cliffs. This would satisfy everybody I beleive. The only problem I can think of is that servers would be seperated a lot and the host would have to choose what difficulty everyone has to play on to be on his server otherwise it might be slightly unfair. Of course I could be talkin out of my but and may not be understanding the problems to this but if this can be done with little problems than I think it should be.
