  1. @swaps I started on the A10CII (and haven't left yet despite having a few other modules) - which I would recommend - as the tutorials are pretty good, taking you through basic flight manoeuvres, navigation, MFD use and weapons employment, plus use of the DMS/TMS. In addition the aircraft is slow and fairly forgiving (ish). You may have noticed but the community here is pretty good (apart from the odd grouch) and will help, advise and assist where at all possible. If you get the bug I thoroughly recommend a decent HOTAS setup and head tracking (which is an absolute game changer).

  3. Hi @Red.01 Screen is a Wimaxit 11.6" monitor from Amazon UK. Not sure if this forum allows links but happy to PM you the details if you cannot find it. The face plate the MFDs are mounted on is 2mm thick - which is thick enough to take the countersunk attaching screws without them pulling through.
  4. Personally use MSAAx4, and SSAAx2. Anything less than this and I get shimmer that no matter how hard I try my eyes are drawn to - even the slightest telegraph pole!
  5. You could fit both MFDs to a 11.6" monitor - then mount it using the monstertech center mount? I have just fitted 2 MFDs to a 3d printed faceplate that slips over a 11.6 screen - which you could then fit onto the center mount. I chose to leave them on the screen stand located just under my main monitor.
  6. After seeking a solution to mount both TM MFDs onto a single 11.6" screen 'cleanly' - I have finally managed to end up with what I think is a fairly decent and useable solution, with the remainder of the 11.6" screen now being covered. Nothing in the realms of a full on cockpit sim - but gives the functionality and appearance that I wanted - i.e both MFDs together under the main screen within easy arms reach. Firstly - many thanks to @Zulu_Uniform. Following his posts here and some additional advice I took his 3d model and tweaked it a little bit - namely to add a box section at the top of the faceplate to allow it to sit firmly on the screen and add a bit more rigidity, some channel guides at the bottom to better protect and feed the USB cables through, and a small raised lip around each cutout to assist in locating the screens. I used M2 14mm countersunk screws to attach the panels onto the plate, which I covered with 1mm thick self adhesive sealing foam to protect the screen underneath. Apologies for the self indulgent post, but felt I needed to tell someone (anyone). If anyone is interested happy to share the 3d file.
  7. Started an Instant Action Mission in the Nevada Test Range, which auto selected Jean Airport as my mission start. I couldn't contact ATC so assuming it is non operational - not having flown from here before? On easy comms but couldn't see the airport on the dropdown list to broadcast to. The mission generator gave me two JTACs - who steadfastly refused to give me any co-ordinates after making contact - but did ask for me a read back - which when I initiated (I) uttered something in Russian (I think). Is this a known issue?
  8. To me then it appears all is well, as I wouldn't expect any steer bars due to daytime low wind conditions - so runway ILS would have been turned off - hence the flags. Thanks.
  9. After some feedback as to whether my ILS is working properly or not? I was returning into Senaki - day sortie, contacted ATC who directed to use runway 09, with windspeed of 3 m/s - so expecting ILS to be off. Dialled in the TACAN and ILS frequencies and turned both systems on via their respective control panels. ILS and TACAN were then both selected to on in the NMSP (not sure whether that is 'allowable' but seems to work OK). As expected I had no steer bars on the ADI but did have the warning flags, but then selected ILS off on the NMSP - at which point the vertical steerbar appeared and the flags disappeared. Is this correct as cannot recall this happening before - but could be wrong?
  10. Hi @Oddball52, as I think Bossco alludes to in his post, it may be worth investigating a separate boot drive - I have a separate M2 drive for Windows, Office and such like, another M2 for DCS only, and then a further SSD for all other games. It might be seen as total overkill - but I like to be able to separate things out if they start going wrong. In addition - just so you are aware - the drive you are looking at has cooling fins on the top (I think) - so you wont be able to refit the M2 slot 'lid'. I have an Asus Rog, and the M2s are fed by a cooling fan which pushes air through the M2 chamber - so not sure how this would affect the cooling of the drives with a built in heat sink - I am guessing not by much - and sure someone will chip in if there are any adverse affects?
  11. Thanks @The_Nephilim - advice well received. Managed to get a small USB switching unit through Amazon - more of a KM switch without the V - which works just fine as the V wasn't needed. Just now trying to track down a decent powered USB hub. One more question different subject - contemplating getting the TM MFDs - are they worth it?
  12. Hi All, After some help and/or advice if possible. I am looking to purchase a KVM/Switch unit so I can use my keyboard and mouse both on my personal PC with DCS installed, and also on my laptop sat on a docking station. Both the PC and the laptop will have a separate monitor, so graphics capability won't be needed. From what I can see I can get a reasonably priced unit that will allow me to hook up my keyboard/mouse and up to 2 more peripherals, and then output it to both my PC and my docking station - obviously used at different times. Questions are: 1. Is it as easy and straightforward as it appears to be? Is there any lag when using? 2. Any suggestions or experience as to a decent reliable unit - looked on Amazon and there are so many I am not sure what is good/not good? 3. In addition I am also contemplating using a powered USB hub for my DCS setup - as I am running out of USB ports on my PC - for my TM Warthog and Pedals. Will this solution work ok or is it best to keep them plugged in to the PC direct? Thanks for any help in advance...
  13. @Yurgon 37T did the trick very nicely. I cannot replicate what I did - I think I may have 'released' the other flight into action after the initial start up cue to do something with the radio using F10 - so were rolling in when I was still trying to figure which way was up. Either way all seems to be now working as advertised - thanks.
  14. Thanks @Yurgon - all comments noted. Once 'aloft' again I will see what I can get...
  15. I have just 'upgraded' the single missions to A10C2 by opening up the missions in ME, and selecting A10c2 and an appropriate loadout - but not sure if they are working correctly. I had an issue with a mission - possibly 'Shooting Gallery'- that involves JTAC support. The 9 line co-ordinates seem messed up, in that if I create a waypoint from them the target is around 80 - 90 miles away. Then after around 30 seconds the target is reported as destroyed with an abort message. If I offer support again the same re-occurs. I watched the map after getting a 9 line, and sure enough a missile seemingly appears out of nowhere and takes the target out. I see here DCSW A-10c - Single Player Missions (Patch for game) (v2.55x) (digitalcombatsimulator.com) Maddog uploaded new mission files for 2.5 as they were broken - does that still stand for 2.7 or are they all now working correctly?
  16. I have the original training qualification campaign modules (Maple Flag), and have commenced the Basic Aircraft Training - which I am finding quite tedious to be honest, hopefully the advanced and tactical will be better. It is almost that you need to trained and competent before embarking on them - so more of a test of what you know already rather than training as such. As I posted elsewhere sometime last year I found the inbuilt training missions good for basic understanding, walking you gently through various systems and selections with nothing too manic, then branched out from there re-running them a few times to make them a bit more 'second nature'. I then set up my own 'simple' missions to practice with navigation, instruments, weapons, start ups, shut downs etc, gradually introducing longer nav runs to target, multiple targets, air defence and so on... That aside I have just purchased the Iron Flag module as the description sounds interesting...
  17. Think this is still a bit 'iffy' - though haven't checked lately. By all accounts to be fixed in a forthcoming update...
  18. Agree with mastersetter. Do the built in training missions - run each one a few times so things start becoming second nature. As some point during those missions you will be looking for more - which is when I got my head into the books, and to be honest the forums are pretty good if you cannot find a specific command or way of doing things. Additionally look at setting up your own simple missions - be it navex, weapons training, landings etc with varying weather and time of day - which will give you the opportunity to learn specific systems without any pressure. Also - remember 'active pause' on such missions - so everything halts but you can still set weapons up, see what you can/cannot do re target acquisition and generally have a play - which when learning for the first time is pretty handy (don't use it if you have SAM or suchlike in the vicinity - they will still shoot and kill!).
  19. What are your advanced power settings on? I had this problem after building a new PC (3070 and 32gb) and found that with my advanced power settings set to balanced I had this issue, when I set them to high the frequent 'dips' disappeared.
  20. To be honest I like it. Gives you a training ground feeling before going 'in theatre'.

  22. What is your PC power setting at? I had similar issues after building a new PC, whereby the FPS would drop like a stone every few seconds. Windows Advanced power settings were set to balanced. Set it to high and the regular FPS drops vanished.
  23. To get a better idea on whether it is playable, maybe worth posting the PC specs - CPU, GPU, Ram and Hard Drive. Look here for system requirements: DCS World 2.7 (digitalcombatsimulator.com)
