Steam Sale! DCS: A-10C for $20 till Nov 28th
Conure replied to kylania's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hehe, is this your first sim? -
What I mean is, it seems from an theoretical point of view to be possible. It's nice to be able to debate these things and consider various possibilities. Also, the poster who commented regarding the radar system may well know what he is talking about as not everything is always completely black and white. There could well be engineers/experts out there who would consider a radar system on an A10 to be perfectly viable...Just because it doesn't exist now doesn't mean it's not worth discussing, nor does it mean it'll never happen, however unlikely. Anyway, I can't debate on the viability of said system because I don't know enough about it. All I know is that things can be and often are subject to change, and that I found following the discussion interesting. I thought the poster was very polite and wasn't really sure why some people were talking to him in such a disrespectful manner - they wouldn't speak to him like that in real life (unless they are particularly unlikeable individuals) so why do it on the forum?

I'm quite disappointed that Topol-M was treated like he was pointlessly arguing and stating his opinion as fact. His comments seemed perfectly reasonable and were interesting. It seems quite possible that a radar would be perfectly viable on the A10c, but most likely for financial reasons they just haven't been installed. It's not like all US equipment is the absolute best existing outside of budget concerns, for example I remember talks about upgrading the engines which were dropped for (I believe) financial reasons.

Yeah I expect it'll improve loads - look at RoF and DCS when they were in pre release state versus now! Hopefully lots of people will buy it so they get some extra income to improve the sim! It's about time we had a good modern day civilian sim - pretty much our only option right now is FSX and as much as I love the PMDG/REX/UTX/GEX/MTX combo, the lack of quad core support and the fact that the game is optimised for use on a single core 8ghz cpu means we really need something new!

Hey all, Have a few questions on this and hope someone.a bit more knowledgable can help. is xplane 10 a ready to go package ala fsx, where you install it and the whole world is ready to fly in? Any idea from the demo what sort opf performance I can expect from my rig on average settings! I also presume that the stock planes will be pretty crappy, and there will be nothing of pmdg quality available in the foreseeable future?? Apologies for grammar, mobile device Con

hey all, i'm about to move into a new place and unfortunately the only way to access the internet is with wireless broadband. it is a fast service but i'm concerned the signal wont be enough for gaming ( living alone i will have little else to do). anyway, i used my phone (i am pedantic) and can only get 2 bars of wireless signal out of five. is that sufficnent for skype and gaming etc? dont want to be stuck in a room with nothing to do! ccheers

Cheers guys and thanks for the thorough explanation Ethereal. Here is a system that I've put together for general family/business use excluding games. core i3 2100 3.10ghz Gigabyte GA 461M socket 1155 Corsair 4gb DDR3 1333mhz memory module Arctic power 500watt PSU Standard case... asus HD 5450 512mb WD 500gb Sata 2 hd That's about it for the main components, I have the cd drives, keyboard and mouse etc, and a 19" monitor...that all comes in at about £450.00 which I'm finding it very tough to beat given the components! Any thoughts?? cheers :)

Hey there, I have a copy of Vista that I plan to put on it! Is it really cheaper to get a pre built then? I've managed to build a core i3 sandy bridge, 4gb of ram etc etc for £450.00 including a monitor! I know Vista isn't great but I'd imagine it's absolutely fine for general use?? Thanks

Hey guys, I have been asked by a family friend to assist in building a PC. Budget is (within reasonable limits) nothing too strict. Basically it will be used for general office style duties and media use. Internet browsing, etc etc. I was basically thinking, some sort of core i3 cpu, and a very low end gpu. It won't ever be used for gaming but I've always had the impression that it's better to have some kind of GPU rather than using integrated...And finally, what would your recommend regarding storage? I've been considering using an SSD, as this machine is unlikely to be updated for a few long time and I should imagine that an SSD would have a positive impact on applications like Itunes, photo albums etc etc. Any input?? Cheers :)

Thailand floods: HDD prices will skyrocket?
Conure replied to FreeFall's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I bet a few smart people stockpiled a whole load of HDDs when that happened. Best wishes to those suffering, which is definitely more important than our HDD prices :) -
Sandy Bridge-E about to land
Conure replied to EtherealN's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can't help but upgrade my PC every 8 months or so. After real world flying and my social life, I'd say computers and simming are probably my greatest passion! Come to think of it.... I need a new CPU:D -
After patches we have to do everything different
Conure replied to vortex360's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Completely agree with the OP! You should have left the game in beta! I was perfectly happy with my cannon slowing my fps to 2 and then you went and 'fixed it' I HATE YOU FOR IMPROVING THE SOFTWARE THAT. WE INVEST our time in. -
That's one awesome offer :D Not too far from the UK either :)

Four hours later and all I have to say is WOW! How're you finding it?

DCS: BS2 graphics -- with the times, or ahead of the times?
Conure replied to Stretch's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Enjoy :) it's easier than you think and you'll be hard pressed to break things! Remember to discharge static before touching anything, touch a radiator or the case regularly! -
Please go the "Open Beta" route next time.
Conure replied to PeterP's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I think the performance seems to need tweaking but then I'm not programmer so hardly able to speak! Agree with PeterP regarding the Beta. As a side question, what was the purpose of DCS Black Shark? I mean, I thougth these were made for military use, who would want a Black Shark simulator for practical purposes??
